  • Goosebumps, anyone?

  • Did anyone else see/read Planet Hulk? I feel like it must've been based on the John Carter book. If there anything alike, this film should be killer!

  • 0:37 he looks like Jack Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia !

  • I thought the girl was supposed to be completely naked apart from some jewelry?

  • 0:31 I honestly thought this was going to be another Prince of Persia movie.

  • shocking to a see for the first time ever a movie of this caliber by Walt Disney.

  • shocking to a see for the first time ever a movie of this caliber by Walt Disney.

  • Peter Gabriel ~ My Body is a Cage (Oxford London Temple Version)

  • Peter Gabriel ~ My Body is a Cage (Oxford London Temple Version)

  • Wow I can name about 10 movies this one's ripping off....

  • This trailer gives me chills. It's like they made a final fantasy video game into a movie

  • Not Bad

  • That's Gambit from X-men Origins Wolverine and the girl played Wolverine's wife

  • so Avatar + Star Wars + cowboys and Aliens = This??

    I guess It won't blend !!

  • @faresfaz oh my lord son, look this is an adaption of a book written in 1912, before the creators of any of those things were even born!

  • Texas forever.

  • eh....

  • beast master rip off.

  • Avatar???

  • it looks sweet.

  • can someone tell me the name of the song.

  • @rioter43 Peter Gabriel ~ My Body is a Cage

  • THE END: TOO BAD, ALL THESE GREAT MOVIES WILL COME BUT THE END OF THE EARTH WILL END IN 2012

  • wheres the scene when he fought the big animals

  • So, Avatar, meets Episode I, meets Gladiator? Heck yeah.

PS: Whoever put Led Zeppelin's Kashmir into a movie trailer format deserves a medal.

  • george lucas said thanks to this series of comics he wrote star wars

Tolkein said this inspired him to do the lord of the rings

Cool to see what inspired greatness

  • Every time they say "John Carter" I think they are saying "John Connor"

And that just makes me wish this was a terminator trailer. :(

  • Looks terrible. Seems like it will be a Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia meets aliens. Mark my words it will be crap.

  • I hope he didn't get to Mars the way they got there in "Doom" film

  • RIGGINS!

  • Dovakiin?

  • Woola? :(

  • there are t-rex on mars ? 1.11

  • 3.9.12 is also the the 5th anniversary of Super Smash bros. Brawl :D

  • 1:15 Is that BROLY from Dragon Ball?

  • I ACUALLY and i just want to say first off that the shawshank redemption, terminator 2, aliens, transformers are amazing movies. but just watching this. i want to say na i dont wnat people to think im completely wrong but this looks like a true grit/AVATAR movie. i think avatar was an okay movie but to me. this looks so epic ITS BETTER the AVATAR. because to me this looks like best movie of my LIFE right now an possibly best movie around the world maybe. just saying! lol the music got me!

  • what would john carter do?

  • Chronicles of Riddick meets Conan, still worth watching.

  • why so much hate on this movie? I think it will be epic. Probably cause the only reason some of you will hate it, is because you're tainted with already watching Avatar, Conan, or Clash of the Titans and thinking this is just a low mash up of all the movies. Don't judge a book by it's a cover. Disney is finally getting out of its comfort zone and releasing this as a PG-13 movie. It should be good. I bet on it.

  • This trailer should have had FROM THE CREATOR OF TARZAN.

  • I've been waiting for this movie since I was thirteen years old. I'm forty-five now.

  • john carter save Mars? Ha thats why Mars its a dead planet by now

  • Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins look like cheap knock offs of Barry Watson and Jessica Biel. LOL. I thought they were doing a Seventh Heaven thing.

  • Ah well this trailer is better than the other teaser trailer before it. I've read and am familiar with the series..hopefully Disney will make it as close to the Barsoom series as possible.

    Can't wait to see it!!!!!!

  • I hope this movie is bad so Andrew Stanton goes back to making Pixar classics like "Wall E" and "Nemo".

  • it's interesting enough <3 what's the name of the song anyone??

  • Is this just like Sherlock Holmes?, no Cowboys and Aliens, no no Prince of Persia, Avatar? Star Trek?!

    ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) WHAT IS THIS?!?!?

  • BEFORE ALL THE MAJOR SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY MOVIES AND NOVELS OF THE LAST 5 TO 9 DECADES, THE JOHN CARTER NOVELS BY EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS IS THE ONE WORK THEIR WRITERS AND DIRECTORS IN HOLLYWOOD PAY HOMAGE TOO. ALL RESPECTS TO TOLKEIN AND LUCAS, BUT THIS IS THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL!

  • @luis6079 And then in the sequels, after he leaves Barsoom, everything goes to hell. So when he goes back, he does it all AGAIN! And against greater odds!!

  • @luis6079 One maor difference between avatar, and A Princess of Mars... John Carter didnt need to turn into an ten foot tall green alien to do anything!

  • @Joecbg100 Hey, just looking through old comments, saw this one, and didnt see that anyone responded to it... In the books, Edgar Rice Burroughs is Carters (favorite) nephew, and the story is actually Carters diary given to Burroughs to be read after Carters death.

  • I wonder what this would look like in a Kingdom Hearts game...

  • I wonder what this would look like in a Kingdom Hearts game...

  • oh my god. he's hot!

  • Stumbled up this trailer and thought it was cool... which led me to read the book 'A Princess of Mars' by Burroughs, published in 1917. I hope that they (and it looks like they do) stay true to the story.

If you believe the likes of Roddenberry and Lucas (to name a few) weren't influenced by Burroughs' work, you ought to read this book.

  • @trevreiten r u aware of the low budget movie princess of mars?

  • @Jfrute The movie actually looks awesome, don't know what you're smoking. Granted, I could be wrong, but it's being directed by one of Pixar's mainstays.

  • @Jfrute DUDE THIS STORY IS AWSOME IT"S A HUNDRED YEARS OLD AND AS LONG AS THE GET IT RIGHT IT WILL ROCK

  • @fucktardickis WHY ARE YOU YELLING?????

  • Okay time for the next trailer!

  • Actually the Music is Awesome.(Peter Gabriel just gets Better!) The Movie is Very close and true to the Edgar Rice Burroughs story writtrn in 1923. ERB was a NYC Cop! before he became an auther in Penny Dreadfulls of the Sci Fi Genre. ERB also created Tarzan the Lord of Greystoke. The seems a little modernized but not to the detriment of the story! It Looks AWESOME!! See before ye Judge cinema goers!

  • @red5llaw This movie doesnt modernize anything . . .. . ti takes place post civil war, John carter a civil war veteran

  • @red5llaw I agree, the music is fitting :)

  • @red5llaw 1923? Try 1912.

  • @Jfrute did you watched the movie already?

  • I think Disney should do a direct-to-video anime anthology in the spirit of The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight to tie in with the movie.

  • This looks so awesome. Can't wait to see the movie in March.

  • 300 million to make this movie hahahahahaha th

  • @Jfrute You do realise that this is based on a book (A princess of mars, 1920) that inspired bascially every space opera film since. Even the NASA program. Don't want to sound like a dick, but I think I just did.

  • @Jfrute This looks lame?

  • Andrew stanton- finding nemo..nuff said

  • @djfjsd45 and WALL-E nuff said

  • "INTER MUNDOS" means "Between the Worlds" Earth and Mars

  • ohh i love it it reminds me of old Si-fi novels and books and i so missed those.

  • @Greendragon902 That is EXACTLY what this Story is. Classic Old Sci Fi from the Master ERB Edgar Rice Burroughs. Bless you ERB

  • @red5llaw Well said.

  • Trailer makers take note: you can make anyone want to see any movie with the right music in the trailer.

  • Why does modern disney always use Peter gabriel music???????? Why???? Try something a little more EXCITING.

  • I've dreaded the making of this film for years. Only because it is one of the most influential sci-fi adventure ever written and I am always disappointed with the interpretation and changes the film industry makes. This series has been inspiration for many other sci-fi books, movies, and television series. For example you may have heard of star trek or star wars. Edgar Rice Burroughs(R.I.P. September 1, 1875 – March 19, 1950) you are a legend to all us who love literature.

  • @Jacshipp1

I have heard that Star Trek was inspired more by Homer's Odyssey.

    Can't say for sure,

but maybe that partly inspired this, too.

  • It sure would be nice if Disney would really start a massive promotional push for this film the way Lucasfilm did for Star Wars back in 1999! The promo sweep for Star Wars was epic with Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC all at one with the Force.

I'm very excited about Disney's John Carter of Mars and The Lone Ranger. I plan on buying the first issue of the Marvel one shot shot John Carter as soon as I can. Go Disney! Go!

  • 1:13 star wars anyone?

  • @Fetusash Star Wars . . . . what? Since when did star wars have a copyright on the concept of alien creatures

This is a movie based on book written in 1912! That alien is a fairly accurate representation of the "green martians" from the books, probably female given the facial structure and the larger tusks (females had larger tusks in the books)

Oh also, here are some select words from the books (all written before george was born)

    Jeddak, Jed, Banth, Sith

do you see a pattern yet!

  • @Ralokone I think it is supposed to be Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkas

  • @tmtmcclaskie807 the green martian we see in this trailer is sola, trust me I have dont my homework on this subject!

  • anyone else remember this guy in star wars? 1:13

  • @Fetusash no?

  • I hope they don't screw this up. This is one of the first books I ever read.

  • @MessianicLight that tends to happen alot in movies or stories about people going to other worlds like in Narnia and Tron.

  • Looks...expensive

  • For me this is the movie event of the next year. I just cannot wait for this, it looks so enigmatic, ethereal & breathtaking, just immense.

  • @arweiss100 you and me both.

  • Am I the only one that can't help but be EXTREMELY excited for this every time I watch this trailer along w/ hearing Peter Gabriel's voice?!

    EPICNESS.

  • If the movie is even half as good as the trailer it'll be fantastic.

  • John Carter = the ORIGINAL Superman...

Very few people alive today are even aware of this fact...

3.9.12 >>>>> You Will Believe A Man Can Fly.............

  • @samsandoa25 No, Superman = The original Superman. If John Carter was the original Superman, his name would be Superman. As cool as this looks, even though it's a Disney movie, and not having any knowledge of John Carter prior to this, I stand by my original statement.

  • @TravisTrixta85 The idea of a man travelling to a different world and gettign superpowers like super strength from being on that world originated with John Carter in 1912

a couple of decades before superman was created

  • @samsandoa25 P.S. Christopher Reeve made us believe a man could fly back in 1978. Carter is 34 years too late for that tag line.

  • @TravisTrixta85 If you knew anything you would know that John Carter was made in 1911, way before Superman was even drawn on paper

  • @samsandoa25 John Carter never "flew". He jumped on account of the martian lower gravity.

  • Its directed by Andrew Stanton (directed WALL-E for pixar) if he can make a kids movie feel so deep and adult at the same time, then i can't wait to see what he can do with a block-buster film with actors. Just the use of Peter Gabriel rendering his awesome voice for the music theme should tell you that its going to be epic...that and this is going to be a trilogy; they have put alot of thought in this

  • Could the nine blue rays be the telepathic password that opens the gates of the atmosphere control center?

  • @dmnbaazrr it should be. But from what I hear it is a device to send carter home that dejah thoris somehow had on her . . . . for some stupid reason

It sounded stupid as hell when I read what it was supposed to be

  • Awesome Dafoe voice over at the end!

  • @Jfrute lol, the song is awesome!! because of it i started looking into john carter, i eventually downloaded A Princess of Mars on to my Kindle and it's a really good book, i am half way through and am really enjoying it! i am more psyched for this movie to come out, hopefully it won't disappoint

  • @dl2amirez I did the exact same thing! I finished the book in less than a day...It was awesome!

  • You guys should really read the first Princess of Mars story. Its actually really entertaining.

  • It looks awesome and I will watch it. But doesn't any one of you Hope for a Live Action Movie of Tarzan? That would sound awesome. The Trailer is great.

  • @Cococrash11 Check out "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes". Very mature rendering of the story.

  • I never thought they would make a film adaption of "A Princess of Mars" but it looks great!

  • looks amazing ... cant wait to see it.

  • If this movie makes less than 200,000,000 at the box office im gonna eat fish..... and i hate fish!!

  • @TheHampton14

    That makes two of us.

  • Looks like a good fantasy story

  • Nah, looks Rubbish !!?

  • Reminds me of Cowboys and Aliens

  • Edgar Rice Burroughs was a master at sparking imagination & transporting the reader to other worlds! I really hope they do John Carter some justice with a fine movie. Looking forward to it & any sequels to continue the original novels. Now, one can only wish for Pellucidar & Carson of Venus movies!! Had enough of Tarzan movies.

  • great ! just great !

  • Song name?

  • Riggs?!

  • Obsessed with this. So inspiring...

  • This sorta looks like a combo of Treasure Planet and Atlantis...

    But it looks amazing!

  • He-man?

  • @DezzmanX Ya, I checked out He Man and it sure looks like he was copied from the John Carter of Mars books, that were written about 70 years prior.

  • Amazing trailer... Beautiful music

  • @pasha1423 peter gabriel is amazing

  • 300million dollar budget?!?!

  • 1:13 Why is that Thark not 13 feet tall?

  • @Dragadur 18

  • Must know the song in the trailer name!

  • @ironshadow89 "My body is a cage". It's a Peter Gabriel cover of an Arcade Fire song from the album Neon Bible. Both versions are awesome.

  • Wait...so when the movie comes out, it will be a 100th anniversary of the book? THAT'S AWESOME!

  • COOL

  • I'll wait a while before I make my mind up about this. This trailer really doesn't do the film any favours.

  • i'm loving the music man!

  • :o What is that song?

  • @Hawkshadow56 my body is a cage - peter gabriel

  • @crdf ty

  • @Hawkshadow56 Peter Gabriel - My Body Is A Cage

  • whats it about?

  • i kinda feel like Disney should'nt have picked this movie b/c the secnd and third book kinda deal with genoside. idk lol

  • I thought it was strange that Edgar Rice Burroughs is the kid at the beginning of the trailer until I read, either Gods of Mars or Warlords of Mars where there is a note from the author saying something to the effect of *I have translated where possible all martian units of time from Captain Carter's notes. By the way, was that a common thing for authors to do at the time? Maurice Leblanc used the same convention where his fictional character Arsene Lupin gave him his story through interviews.

  • I think they made a decent choice for Dejah.

  • i expected dejah thoris to be prettier...

  • is that the woman from wolverine origin's?

  • @superAztec101 lol both of them are

  • @harryP0tt3rDANfan01 I believe it is "THE" movie another movie about a person brought into a world away from reality, who is destined to save it, or change it

  • If the world does end in 2012, i will go to heaven (or hell) so happy. The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hobbit Part 1 and this

  • what's the music in the trailer?

  • Oh my! Taylor Kitsch!

  • is this the series where deja thoris came from?

  • it looks just lyk prince of persia

  • Prince of Persia??? xD it remind me it!!!! xD

  • He-Man?

  • i read all of the books in this series and i read all of the books in the tarzan series edgar rice burroughs is my favorite author! i have read a lot more books by him also. this movie kinda looks like its nothing like the book though, well at least thats what the trailer makes it seem like. i am looking forward to it however just because its based off of one of my favorite books.

  • @MsJiggy16 I'm sure it will not be exactly like the book, but what move ever is? 20,000 leagues under the sea was also done by Walt Disney in the 50's (The one with Kirk Douglas and James Mason) and it was an excelent movie, but nothing like the original Jules Vern book. So I doubt I will be dissapointed with this new movie as I dont expect it to be exactaly like the Burroughs origanal.

  • @SAHLINROB yeahh my mom tells me that i have to learn to recognise that movies are movies and are never going to be exactly like the book because i always get mad when i read a book and then watch the movie. i think they should have gotten someone better looking for dejah thoris though because shes supposed to be "incomparable"

  • Looks dumb.

  • @FreemanFilms1 Seeing as the film isn't coming out until next year, it's likely that the CGI on the Green Martians isn't final.

  • @honeybadger81 I agree with your point. :)

  • @xFourStepsBehindx PG-13 films aren't targeted towards12 year olds, you know ;)

  • Something was eating at me... until I realised that it's Gambit (Kitsch) and Tayla (Collins) from Wolverine.

Trailer's making me feel a lot happier about seeing it. Gonna have to do some reading too.

  • Compare the shot of the New Mexico mountain Shiprock (:30) with a Google Earth 3D view. It reveals significant digital alteration, including an apparent ancient (and dry) canal, as well as an arch or land bridge to the left of Shiprock. This evidently is a good example of how Stanton will be tweaking actual landscapes to create Barsoom. I think it's sure to lend an aura of reality.

  • From the director of Finding Nemo and Wall-E, Andrew Stanton!

  • I read the comics when a kid and found them quite well done, for comics. If by cheap you mean costing 15 cents or so, yes. But, if you mean not well written synopsis and graphic representation of the plot or theme of the ERB's books, then you are dead wrong.

The science of Mars, shape of moons, type of soils, rocks etc. better be correct,

or you are going to get SO much FLACK from amateurs astronomers & SyFy aficionados

that it will overshadow the movie. Looking forward to a great series

  • It's the dude from Into the Wild?

  • Excellent! I can't wait! The John Carter of Mars books were the very first science fiction books I ever read. I found them in a "used book" store, and was immediately "hooked". I'd hide them in my school text books, reading them during class, and got caught once, because I didn't notice that the teacher had dismissed the class. I don't care if DIsney makes the movies. I'm just glad that someone finally has! Bring them on!

  • I'm not sure how Edgar Rice Burroughs would take to this. And as someone said, being it's from Disney will take a lot out of it. But then Disney has always been known to "borrow" stories and ideas.

  • Looks like Prince of Persia, Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, and Cowboys & Aliens all rolled into one trailer

  • Gladiators vs Aliens!

  • Time to turn this movie into a game.

  • now i know what i'm NOT seeing

  • The movie looks promising but it also seems like a mix of Conan and a live-action version of Atlantis: the Lost Empire
