@linam1201 No, he means demographic. He basically said look for a course offered in your neighborhood, county, etc. This refers to a population of people, more specifically consumers and the needs in that area. This would effect whether or not the course is offered online, or at a facility who tests/certifies those interest in being personal trainers.
@j14mp When you go to school wether its college or a vocal school. Most of learning comes from self study or research. School stops teaching, after grade school and not to mention it is way over-priced. So if they license this than all they will do is find a way to make an extra buck. You sound more like a lobbyist or a know it all teacher. If you are attempting to be a personal trainer; then the best way is to study and learn from every and anything. Set-up a work plan that you fill might work.
I'm sorry and don't be angry with me, but if your not in school learning hands on in a lab environment or striving to achieve a degree in the field.. then your test results don't matter to me :-x IM SORRY but I hope to god this field becomes licensed. Let's face it, the educated is more credible. sorry sorry sorry lol
@j14mp at myself... lol but im not putting down the guy in the vid or anyone.. i don't know him or any of you for that matter, but im just stating and opinion because I think it takes a little more training. I might add Im taking the ACE exam in a month then ACSM. All my text books revolve around ACSM so it will be interesting to see what's different. I study ACE study packets given to me by my teacher so we will see. Risk factors or generally the same though if not exactly the same.
I agree! Sorry to say , thats how most CPT's get certified. ACSM and NSCA are good.
I took a 6 month class with course materials and in gym training. Training others that is. My schooling was through NPTI, they have schools nationwide and are based on NSCA, they also teach nutrition.
I guess it depends on what kind of person you are and what kind of trainer you want to be.
Does a weekend workshop over a few hours give someone the know how and practical knowledge need to safely help people achieve health/fitness goals?
Chronic exercise can be dangerous if the client/patient is not properly monitored and/or taught exercises. The results could include over use injuries, nutrition problems (psychological/physical), or heart complications.
I would recommend certification by the most demanding organizations: ACSM, ACE, or NSCA. I believe ACSM is the GOLD STANDARD!

there is no online course that needs to be passed to become ACE certified, it's just the exam.
