This girl is amazing! As for people leaving rude comments, she was 7 years old... I'm sure all of of you judging her were pro's when you were 7 years old. I'm not going to lie, i wasn't even this good when i was 7. And i have been in Ballet for 16 years...
Amanda can do everything unlike most people out there. my daughter will be 7 this year and is doing a ballet solo as well as jazz and tap. She is no where near as good as this but I am proud of her for trying. It takes alot of dedication and a love for dance for these girls to put in all of the time and energy they do. People should only leave positive comments here.
Amanda is an extremely talented, dedicated young girl who I have been fortunate enough to have taught her in the past. It is so sad to see such an immature, rude and tasteless comment that you thought needed to be written about someone. It must be sad to be that bitter and angry in life at only 18, I am embarrassed for you jjphillips90... you're talking about a child.
You Rock Amanda! You are wonderful and I am so proud of you, Miss C
I hope someone has reported you. This comment is unacceptable and incredibly unpleasant when directed at a child. I assume you are a child yourself to be so immature as to make comments like that.
maybe its just the tutu, but on her arabesques in the beginning, she should tuck her hips under a little more so her leg would be in the back more, not the side. otherwise, this routine is flawless.
She is very sweet and talented. No one can possibly give negatives on her as she is only 7! WOW!!! Great talent and you can tell she loves it! Wishing her lots of success! xxx
Hello! We are fine thanks but I am so fed up with the negative/nasty comments re my daughter I am thinking of removing my videos. Like this child she is only young but there are so many hyper critical people out there who feel the need to be unpleasant! I only leave nice comments! Hope you are okay! :0) x
this is a beautiful dance for someone as young as she is.......but i can tell ballet isnt really her thing. Mainly because none of her recent solos are ballet, And I think personally that she shines more in Jazz and Lyrical. Im sure shes still a beautiful ballet dancer, but just doesnt like competing those routines anymore.
she is very good!!!! Must have tough teachers... you must be very proud. She is great and gracefula nd she is only 7 and was good at 7 imaagine her at 15 or 16. She is going to be a star!!!!
yes, Baby1995, they SHOULD wait until the feet are fully grown but fanatics think otherwise. I went on pointe when I was 9. And guess who's 23 with arthritis in the feet?! :)
She is very very talented and will go far when she gets older. Definitely amazing for a seven year old! All she needs is her style to mature a bit with tiny things like arm movements and she has a one way ticket to NYC ballet!
well that is not good they should keep her in ballet it is the base of all dance and tap is very fun but not for everyone a studio should offer everything and should not focus to much on one they can have strenghths but also include the other stylesthanks and it is ok i know u did not mean to be rude it is a comoutter and i take no offence
potentiol?yes but she's not all that great at cassical ballet variations bluebird is usally 58 or 59 seconds long! shorten the variation the judges don't want to be bored!! i would say more practice! and look up tap1snap1 her blubird is very good plus the girl that is tap1snap1 has a lot of talent i would take some notes from her!
I think that this video not only shows Amanda as a very talented young girl, but one with ALOT of potential. As you know, there are many critiques I could give regarding her turnout, feet etc. but this is not my place. That is for the teacher. I think that if Amanda worked very hard at her ballet (as i am sure she has been doing), she could reach a very high standard. Have you thought about full time ballet school? She is just the right age now! And good luck with the pre pointe work!
I think you are *fantastically amazing* at your other dance genres. But unfortunately I see no technique here, which is what is fundamentally important in classical ballet, even at the age of 7. You do not articulate your feet, rise on demi point well (it's either too low or sickled) and your posture is incorrect... You do show potential for ballet, please make sure you get excellent ballet training and remember classical ballet can not be rushed, it's a slow and steady discipline. Good luck.
Even if she could, the video says she was 7. Kids shouldn't start point before 12 or 13 because they can really damage the bones in their feet. She is relly good, though!
this was on soft shoe ballet shoes w/ribbons sewn onto them. Amanda is 10 now and has just begun the preparation to be on Pointe. That is her new Love...she is very driven.
That will be very interesting to see. Normally girls don't go en pointe until they're at least 11 and have been doing at least 3, ninty minute, classes per week of solely ballet technique (hopefully Amanda has had this ballet schedule). I'd love to see a video of Amanda doing ballet now, to see how she has improved in ballet :) Good luck to her !
she is a great dancer!!!!! and at all types of dance too. i saw some of her other solos, and there just...wow!!!!!!! i REALLY like the "i got rythem" tap solo. that was just awsom!!!!!!! this girl has talent!!!!!!!!!!!!
not in a bad way, but i c hyper extension in the arms, etc. other than that it's great, but 1) i thot the variation was shorter? 2) i noticed the music at the beginning was faster.
Please... if this very talented girl does not already... GET HER A GREAT BALLET TEACHER!
Her other styles are fantastic... but a good ballet teacher can do so much more to complement her other styles too(which i assume are more impotant to her). It is obvious the teacher/Choreographer of this solo does not understand that good technique of simpler steps is SO MUCH more important that advanced steps with little technique(for a myriad of reasons including the safety of her young body!)
make sure u poite ur feet but it doenst matter becuz UR WICKED GOOD!!! i saw the other one...party girls i think it is called..and yes she pointed her feet! she is wicked talented....wen i was dancing at this age...i couldnt do haff the stuff she can do in this video!! oh and also i saw u on the Maury show...i hope u won that contest!
ya it doesn't look hard at all... but i know it is.. just saying all her other ones actually looked hard and this one doesn't. its kind of dissapointing. but it is balle so there wasnt too much more at the same level of difficulty that 'looked ' harder. good job!
how many solos has she done in her life how many a year and maybe if she has any when she was younger can you put them on i love your daughter she is amazing
Well, replying to some of the negative comments here, yes, [I think] she needs to improve on her turnout, pointe and her "flowiness". But really, it's amazing that she can do a solo like this.
Amanda has very good potential. I think she just needs to improve on certain aspects so she won't have a hard time later on. Anyhow, she's an awesome dancer, most especially for a seven year old. :o
And I agree that her tutu is absolutely gorgeous. ;)
Thats a beautiful tutu she has on. You can tell she loves performing. She could work on pointing her feet and turnout but overall it was very good for her first ballet solo :^)
that was fantastic! She was obviously not en pointe, so those of you who are saying she was, but sorry-- they were just demi-pointes. aka soft ballets which one normally wears when learning ballet. Again, fantastic for a seven year old. She just needs to remember to extend her point and find her center when coming out of turns, but again, for a seven year old this is absolutely fantastic!
For those that think it's pointe *OMG* do you know anything about ballet ?!?! She's a little girl whose dance teacher (is she even a registered ballet teacher?) should be shot for letting her perform this! This is a pointe variation and it's very poor to see a wee girl with no technique at all for classical ballet, attempting this. This is a perfect example of a "Dolly Dinkle" dance school - shudder.
By the way YES she was a registered ballet teacher, however, she does not teach at our studio any longer. And no one should be "shot" for allowing a child to do something they enjoy doing. Your opinion is not shared by everyone. Granted ~ we could have waited and let her do it later on but not everyone follows "the procedures of ballet" and btw Touch of Class Dance Studio is no way a "Dolly Dinkle" studio. Maybe you shoudl be as educated about competition dance as you are about technique.
Wow! I know this girl she went to my studio! I thought she was only good at jazz but this video proves me wrong! And no she's not en pointe on this video.
What studio is that? Just wondering because Amanda has never gone anywhere except Touch of Class (besides 4 months at a Neighborhood studio when she was 3/4 that closed)
It was Touch of Class in San Diego! :) It was a nice studio but I went to a more serious ballet studio and now I'm switching back! :0) She is amazing! I bet I'll see her in the studio next month so I'll say hi! :0)
She is admittedly very very good for her age, considering most seven year olds are still working on the Grade 1 syllabus. BUT... this variation may have been a bit too difficult for her at that age... she did do VERY well, but I saw little bits where technique had been allowed to diminish for the sake of step complexity, and this should never be allowed to happen... but overall, very pleasing, in a few years when she has mastered technique more, I would like to see her perform this again.
Thank you for your comments. This is a perfect example of people making positive criticism comments. I do appreciate your point of view. Not being the Mother of a true ballerina, I found the Ballet solo to be a challenge that Amanda wanted and I allowed her to compete it 4 times. Even now, her technique is very much improved; however, she does not have the desire to compete a Ballet solo again. Thanks so much for your input.
She is working very hard, and it shows. At the same time, she needs to work on port de bras, epaulement, etc. (the audience is also in the balcony). But, she has plenty of time to do that; I only hope that her teachers put it on a priority. Some jumps may be hard on young growing legs, as hard as pointe work. I would love to see more in a few years.
do you have that solo on tape? if you have the chance to post it, that would be amazing! (or if it's already posted and you could point me in that direction, that would be even better)
I was noticing that while she was amazing at ballet for a 7-year-old, she excels so much more in the other styles. You have a very talented daughter! It's great that she enjoys performing so much and that you are such a supportive parent.
she's good....but she have to practice her pointing techniques more.also her arms..they're too uptight..in what i've seen..she can be aprofessional someday...nice job!
i think she has talent at dance but I think it is a bit more preferable to see a simpler solo for a young dancer so they don't feel pushed too hard, some of the steps in here such as the tour jete I think are a little advanced for a 7 year old to be trying.
its not safe to go en pointe until a dancer is atleast 10 or 11 or older, going on pointe when your feet and ankles are not developed can cause injury :^)
she only rises to demi-pointe and appears to be in soft shoes (maybe demi-pointe, aka pre-pointe shoes, but she's still not doing full rises). that's the way ballet works before you get to pointe. she's not doing anything she shouldn't be. demi- (not semi-) pointe is not the least bit dangerous.
i do, however, think she needs to focus on pointing her feet a little more (again, NOT dangerous).
Take away her jazz tricks and you see that, despite the fact that che is flexible and can turn well, she has no turnout, can't point her feet, has no sense of timing, and can't do anything that 'flows' or is supposed to look elegant and beautiful.
I know that was a tough critique for a 7 year old, but the people who practically worship this girl need to look past her extensions and fouettes and see that dancing is more than that!
i totally agree.... she is amazingly flexible and the choreography shows that off but apart from that it doesnt flow and is a bit stiff in some places
yeah i agree with you on this- its much better to master basic steps with good timing, turnout and tecnique before moving onto advanced moves when your not ready
but this is a ballet solo...instead of giving her advanced steps the dance should focus on technique, which i think in this dance there is none...every foot was turned in and her feet wern't fully pointing and stretched.
don't get me wrong she is very talented buit maybe the steps were a little advanced for her to keep her turn out and exstentions.
ok, she's only seven, so no one expects a flawless and artistically mature performance, but does she have a tecnique... only, is she going to be able to walk when she's 25? plisetskaya once said that not dancing too many hours a day kept her performing until she was what, 75?
She's AMAZING for her age. I definitely could not have done all that when I was 7, especially not attitude turns and fouettes. However, she does have a bit of cleaning up to do. She needs to point her feet everytime they leave the ground and turn out more. Just some con crit from me, and I understand that she's very talented, especially at her age. Great job, keep dancing!
Vanessa: your daughter is absolutley AMAZING. she was soooo born to dance, and she is so little but has a TON of passion. i see it in her dancing. very great job, and tell your daughter to keep up her amazing work!!
It's very fast, she probably could have done better if it were a tad slower. She is adorable though, and a much better dancer than I was at that age. She no doubt has a great future in ballet ahead of her.
I like all her other pieces except for this one. Many people are critical on her technical behalf, but I just think it's the version they decided to use.
The tempo is just way way way too fast. The first part was really....eh. It was not fluid-like at all. Her choreographer could have toned everything down because it looked way too choppy to me. I've seen this variation done better when the tempo was slower.
i saw her other videos and shes really good but her technique wasnt very good in this video because she didnt stretch her feet in her jumps but otherwise shes really good for her age
omg u r such a bitch that was amazing!!! she looks about 6 or 7 and she totaly kicked ass!!! that was great 4 being so little!! shes probably beter than u!!
You can see that they put ribbons on her slippers and she is not on pointe, but just releves to demi-pointe.
He ability is good for her age, but it was a little messy. I think if she focused more of technique, rather than the height of an extension for example, it would have been less messy.
how did this routine do during the season, vanessa?

if my dance teacher could get our 7 year olds to be as disciplined and focused as she is i think she would collapse in disbelief.
hahaha
txcapp 3 years ago
Well, replying to some of the negative comments here, yes, [I think] she needs to improve on her turnout, pointe and her "flowiness". But really, it's amazing that she can do a solo like this.
Amanda has very good potential. I think she just needs to improve on certain aspects so she won't have a hard time later on. Anyhow, she's an awesome dancer, most especially for a seven year old. :o
And I agree that her tutu is absolutely gorgeous. ;)

yup i agree totally with you. she does seem to have a passion for performing

Thats a beautiful tutu she has on. You can tell she loves performing. She could work on pointing her feet and turnout but overall it was very good for her first ballet solo :^)
Lilyluvhorses007 3 years ago
that was fantastic!
SK7166 3 years ago
For those that think it's pointe *OMG* do you know anything about ballet ?!?! She's a little girl whose dance teacher (is she even a registered ballet teacher?) should be shot for letting her perform this! This is a pointe variation and it's very poor to see a wee girl with no technique at all for classical ballet, attempting this. This is a perfect example of a "Dolly Dinkle" dance school - shudder.
krayziedance 3 years ago
By the way YES she was a registered ballet teacher, however, she does not teach at our studio any longer. And no one should be "shot" for allowing a child to do something they enjoy doing. Your opinion is not shared by everyone. Granted ~ we could have waited and let her do it later on but not everyone follows "the procedures of ballet" and btw Touch of Class Dance Studio is no way a "Dolly Dinkle" studio. Maybe you shoudl be as educated about competition dance as you are about technique.
VanessaOcampo 3 years ago
Sheesh, krayziedance your comment is just laughable.

Wow! I know this girl she went to my studio! I thought she was only good at jazz but this video proves me wrong! And no she's not en pointe on this video.
dancin4God4ever 3 years ago 2
What studio is that? Just wondering because Amanda has never gone anywhere except Touch of Class (besides 4 months at a Neighborhood studio when she was 3/4 that closed)
VanessaOcampo 3 years ago
It was Touch of Class in San Diego! :) It was a nice studio but I went to a more serious ballet studio and now I'm switching back! :0) She is amazing! I bet I'll see her in the studio next month so I'll say hi! :0)
dancin4God4ever 3 years ago
She is admittedly very very good for her age, considering most seven year olds are still working on the Grade 1 syllabus. BUT... this variation may have been a bit too difficult for her at that age... she did do VERY well, but I saw little bits where technique had been allowed to diminish for the sake of step complexity, and this should never be allowed to happen... but overall, very pleasing, in a few years when she has mastered technique more, I would like to see her perform this again.
RoyalBalletSchool 3 years ago
Thank you for your comments. This is a perfect example of people making positive criticism comments. I do appreciate your point of view. Not being the Mother of a true ballerina, I found the Ballet solo to be a challenge that Amanda wanted and I allowed her to compete it 4 times. Even now, her technique is very much improved; however, she does not have the desire to compete a Ballet solo again. Thanks so much for your input.
VanessaOcampo 3 years ago
all hater comments aside, it is a gorgeous tutu :)
gemma1507 3 years ago
She is working very hard, and it shows. At the same time, she needs to work on port de bras, epaulement, etc. (the audience is also in the balcony). But, she has plenty of time to do that; I only hope that her teachers put it on a priority. Some jumps may be hard on young growing legs, as hard as pointe work. I would love to see more in a few years.
bigposercroise 3 years ago 3
do you have that solo on tape? if you have the chance to post it, that would be amazing! (or if it's already posted and you could point me in that direction, that would be even better)
dancernerd32 3 years ago
I was noticing that while she was amazing at ballet for a 7-year-old, she excels so much more in the other styles. You have a very talented daughter! It's great that she enjoys performing so much and that you are such a supportive parent.
dancernerd32 3 years ago 2
Oh my god. She is good for her age.
balletlovergirl 3 years ago
she's good....but she have to practice her pointing techniques more.also her arms..they're too uptight..in what i've seen..she can be aprofessional someday...nice job!
belat997 3 years ago
i think she has talent at dance but I think it is a bit more preferable to see a simpler solo for a young dancer so they don't feel pushed too hard, some of the steps in here such as the tour jete I think are a little advanced for a 7 year old to be trying.
Lilyluvhorses007 3 years ago 3
ohh.let her do it na with pointes!
mhistee 3 years ago
its not safe to go en pointe until a dancer is atleast 10 or 11 or older, going on pointe when your feet and ankles are not developed can cause injury :^)
Lilyluvhorses007 3 years ago
.. or 13 or 14. She's not fully up either, sort of semi-pointe, which is even worse. This girl is going to have some serious foot/ankle problems.
KCfn 3 years ago
im pretty sure she's not en pointe in this.
they're soft shoes.
i mean, thats what it looks like, i could be wrong.
cheesinnn 3 years ago
Why would she have ankle problems going on demi pointe? Shes not meant to be fully up!
Counter00Hand 3 years ago
she only rises to demi-pointe and appears to be in soft shoes (maybe demi-pointe, aka pre-pointe shoes, but she's still not doing full rises). that's the way ballet works before you get to pointe. she's not doing anything she shouldn't be. demi- (not semi-) pointe is not the least bit dangerous.
i do, however, think she needs to focus on pointing her feet a little more (again, NOT dangerous).
awesome job, especially for a seven-year-old!
cyn042 3 years ago
it's so sad when parents do this stuff to their kids.
landcmg 3 years ago
what if this girl wanted to do this....
if she did not want to do this, then why does she enjoy this so much
xoxoluv94 3 years ago
Take away her jazz tricks and you see that, despite the fact that che is flexible and can turn well, she has no turnout, can't point her feet, has no sense of timing, and can't do anything that 'flows' or is supposed to look elegant and beautiful.
I know that was a tough critique for a 7 year old, but the people who practically worship this girl need to look past her extensions and fouettes and see that dancing is more than that!
dancinfroge 3 years ago 2
I agree, people need to get over her.
her jazz, tap, and lyrical are stunning, but I think that ballet just isn't her thing.
I'm the same way :P
55nolan55 3 years ago
i totally agree.... she is amazingly flexible and the choreography shows that off but apart from that it doesnt flow and is a bit stiff in some places
but still her turns are way impressive!
dancingislyf 3 years ago
you have to remember she is very young u cant excpect her to be a professional at age 7
xoxoluv94 3 years ago
yeah i agree with you on this- its much better to master basic steps with good timing, turnout and tecnique before moving onto advanced moves when your not ready
Lilyluvhorses007 3 years ago
how old were you when you started dancing? i was 3 (: YOUR GREAT

3pointhotshot 3 years ago
a little repetitive? its the bluebird variation, duh. sleeping beauty!?
so maybe its a little repetitive but shes just a little girl
dancexisxlove223 3 years ago
Thank you missshorty02 that is what i think but everyone thinks she is soooooooooooooo good at the fouettes.
FreedClassicLover 3 years ago
she is an amazing dancer.
but this is a ballet solo...instead of giving her advanced steps the dance should focus on technique, which i think in this dance there is none...every foot was turned in and her feet wern't fully pointing and stretched.
don't get me wrong she is very talented buit maybe the steps were a little advanced for her to keep her turn out and exstentions.
=]
missshorty02 3 years ago
ok, she's only seven, so no one expects a flawless and artistically mature performance, but does she have a tecnique... only, is she going to be able to walk when she's 25? plisetskaya once said that not dancing too many hours a day kept her performing until she was what, 75?
katerina41704 3 years ago
She's AMAZING for her age. I definitely could not have done all that when I was 7, especially not attitude turns and fouettes. However, she does have a bit of cleaning up to do. She needs to point her feet everytime they leave the ground and turn out more. Just some con crit from me, and I understand that she's very talented, especially at her age. Great job, keep dancing!
madxhatter07 3 years ago
Vanessa: your daughter is absolutley AMAZING. she was soooo born to dance, and she is so little but has a TON of passion. i see it in her dancing. very great job, and tell your daughter to keep up her amazing work!!
:)
balletchick9088 3 years ago
It's very fast, she probably could have done better if it were a tad slower. She is adorable though, and a much better dancer than I was at that age. She no doubt has a great future in ballet ahead of her.
ecalliope 3 years ago
Oh and...
I just realized this was staged before...
For older girls on pointe. My friends did this a few times... I think they should have given her easier choreography. Nice try though.
MiserableParodies 3 years ago
I like all her other pieces except for this one. Many people are critical on her technical behalf, but I just think it's the version they decided to use.
The tempo is just way way way too fast. The first part was really....eh. It was not fluid-like at all. Her choreographer could have toned everything down because it looked way too choppy to me. I've seen this variation done better when the tempo was slower.
MiserableParodies 3 years ago
is it just me or does she look Black in this video??
maryyyxoxo 3 years ago
i saw her other videos and shes really good but her technique wasnt very good in this video because she didnt stretch her feet in her jumps but otherwise shes really good for her age

i think this variation is too hard for her age..she needs to work on closing in fifth and turning out, however, she is an amazing little dancer.
dancergirl221 3 years ago 2
that was amazing! she is probably better than me and im 7 years older! that is the cutest thing i have ever seen in my entire life. :]
DrakeBellbby 3 years ago
Dont get mad. Point you toes, stretch your knees, fix your arms, dont arch your back, and dont do fouettes if they will be sloppy.
I know she is only 7 but if she is going to to hard steps she will be judged hard.

OfficalCutieE 3 years ago
You can see that they put ribbons on her slippers and she is not on pointe, but just releves to demi-pointe.
He ability is good for her age, but it was a little messy. I think if she focused more of technique, rather than the height of an extension for example, it would have been less messy.
Still she is very talented!
LovelyDancer92 3 years ago
Amanda is not on pointe nor does she take pre-pointe ballet. She takes 5 hours of ballet a week.
VanessaOcampo 3 years ago
I know shes 7 and all but i think she is good enough to be on pointe one of my friends started pointe when she was 8!
