Shock collars should only be used for safety for your dog and others never for training. Ex. wireless shock fence is something used as a precaution even though my dog knows to not run outside it gives me peace of mind that he will never run out onto the roads chasing some squirrel all it take was 5 mins and now lesson learned. Also there are many video tutorials and shows that teach you how easy it is to train your dog not to constantly bark. Dog whisperer teachers you a lot of useful things as well. And if you really don't have time to train your dog at all, then you simply have no business having a dog in the first place.

It simply makes them so scared of getting hurt by that shock that they simply dont even want to do it anymore which is pretty damn shitty and inhumane. But of course this is for lazy fucks who don't want to take a few minutes to train their dogs not to bark at things like door knocking. It does not take long at all. I trained my dog within a few weeks. Age doesn't matter either.

My dogs spend a couple hours outside in the fenced in yard when I am running errands, etc. and they bark uncontrollably at the neighbors or anyone who walks by the yard, including kids who stand outside the fence and taunt them because they are barking so much. The bark collar serves to teach them when I am gone that it is not ok to bark at everything that moves. I would never use it in the house or while I am around to correct them

We have had to buy a shock collar, but only after 2 months of constant training, we employed several pet trainer experts and the last one said she was stumpted at why he was so stubborn. He would bark at everything and anything, and no matter how much we trained, he would still do it. Very cruel and it was sad to see him in pain, but a suitable last case scenario. Don't over generalize.

We have a very safe, very humane bark collar for my dog. It's only a correction. The intention of the collar is not to hurt the dog but to correct the behavior. They usually only yelp for the first few times because it's something they're not used to, it shouldn't hurt them With the type of collar that we got, if the dog barks for more than a minute then it can deliver a pretty severe shock but the dog will usually stop barking with the first correction.

I had to use one on my dogs. One dog would back the other snuck out of yard. After a few shocks the dog never snuck out again, even with out the colar. The other dog did not care and kept barking throught it. The difference between a stick and the collar as that you are not the one doing it to the dog so it does not get scared or fear you.

I worked with hunting dogs and we would train them to stay away from snakes with shock collars. It is better for them to associate a snake with a shock than for them to try and sniff a snake while out on a hunt.

I have also seen aggressive dogs that would kill cats and were going to be put down. The shock collar taught them to not chase cats. This saved the dogs life.

This makes them think that you (the alpha) don't want them in the pack. they will try to avoid being noticed (developing emotional problems), or run away. The preferred physical correction is to hold them, or pinch them, but the neck cuz this is what dogs do to correct. A shock collar is just a way of correcting from a distance. I have been shocked, it sux, but not that much.
