  • I saw him fighting in the opening sequence of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and INSTANTLY wanted him in my party~

  • Caius: Prepare to fight me.

    Me: Alright.

    Caius: Over 9000 times.

    Me: FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU-

  • Caius won me over with his sexy ass voice. I mean he's epic in other ways of course, but that voice drives me up the wall.

  • i want his sword >_<

  • This song is a testament to the quality of the music of Final Fantasy after Uematsu's departure. I know many were worried when he left, but Uematsu left several worthy successors in his place.

This song is phenomenally beautiful and perfectly describes the kind of character Caius is: A fallen hero. A man who would destroy the very fabric of existence to prevent the suffering of the girl he swore to protect.

  • Resalution, Determination, Power and misery all in one very emotional piece.

  • Best Part: 1:15 - 1:55

  • Caius is better that Sephiroth!

  • Caius VS. Sephiroth!

  • Latin Lyrics Translation Please?

  • I can't help but just see this guy like Barbatos .. overrated as f*ck.

    C-A

  • if u love final fantasy add my psn skyrin1234 i love to talk about final fantasy

  • well wen it comes out i will be 15

    btw i love you serah

  • Well...there is one thing I know. If Square Enix does ever make a Final Fantasy 13-3, I take the risk to say that Final Fantasy 13 it's gonna be the biggest Final Fantasy (and also the best) ever made. Example: Imagine if it happens that in FF XIII-3 all the Final Fantasy XIII-3 go after Caius Ballad like in VII with Sephiroth, it would be awesome :D

  • Caius was the only antagonist who made me feel like the bad guy...

  • His sword reminds me of Soul Edge

  • Thumbs up if you think Caius should tell kids "Don't try this at home" before he jumps out. Its too epic not to try unless he tells us not to.

  • You know with the DLC, they could make a battle vs. Sephiroth. Just like they did with Lightning

  • Most fucking epic villain in history of videogames!

Finally a villain who has a reason to do what he has to,and one of the few succeding

  • Well we all know who is going in dissidia 3 XD.

  • In my art class we can listen to mp3 music while we paint.

I played a half hour loop of this, and I painted like a fucking boss.

  • I'm going to jump out of the balcony out of epicness

  • Sephiroth vs Caius for the first time sephiroth might lose

  • @Drawnzered Uh, hello, Cloud and friends killed Sephiroth in ff7, Cloud then killed Sephiroth AGAIN all by himself in Advent Children lol so I think you mean for the third time... but I don't care, Caius would still kick his ass, cause he's effing awesome

  • @Drawnzered sephiroth isn't a gaurdion he can't even kill caius

  • @Drawnzered If they fight in Valhalla, Caius is super strong but mortal, since he can die in Valhalla due to unusual flow of time and life. Outside of Valhalla, he is immortal but weaker because the chaos of Valhalla isn't there to boost his power, since it primarily only exists in Valhalla.

To be honest, I don't have a real opinion on who would win. If I had to choose their reasons, Caius b/c of all of his Bahamuts, but Sephiroth because of swordsmanship.

  • @SirApathetic Caius cant be killed by Seph.. Only a guardian can "truly" kill Caius. Like Noel.

  • @PwnzooooR Noel isn't a guardian. There is and can only be one guardian (Caius), and the only way they can be killed are by those blessed by the goddess, Etro, which Noel is (which is how he can use his magical abilties). But you're still right, he wouldn't be able to die by Sephiroth's hands, but I believe Sephiroth can easily restrain Caius if that were the case, which would be a sort of victory, in my eyes.

  • Nightmare called, he wants his sword back..

  • Really cool char from a FF, loves his design and background! Thx Square for this villains =)

  • Time traveling scumbag! He's so cool.

  • Sword with piercings ftw

  • saundtrack like a god

  • There's no way in hell SE is going to leave the story like this. I just want to know if the continuation will be 13-3 or 13 versus...perhaps this is why its release is so delayed :O

  • @gabranthjudge Versus 13 is not connected to FF13 & FF13-2. They only share the same mythology, with the goddess Etro, etc ^^ .. But alot of people believe the story will be continued on with DLC packs for FF13-2. I don't think they can wrap all the story up in DLC, they should make FF13-3 xD Trilogy

  • I think Nolan North could have done a better job on his voice.

  • "Everything I do is for Yeul." He'd do anything for her even kill the Goddess, Etro, for making her suffer countless deaths. He's one dedicated guardian O_O.

  • Caius has 2 other themes. "Followers of Chaos" & "Heart of Chaos." Both epic, but if I had to choose...I'd go with "Heart of Chaos."

  • @P4CK3RS12 Heart of Chaos is the bestttttttttttt

  • @P4CK3RS12 'Heart of Chaos' is amazing. I'd probably go with that, too. Though 'Followers of Chaos' really pumped me up as I ploughed through the enemies in Academia.

  • Comment removed

  • such an amazing theme, Caius is a full on pro

  • @thealexkwan + Purple too :P

  • There are some parts in Caius' theme that remind me of the music from Howl's Moving Castle. Pretty cool

  • Caius ftw

  • Sephiroth + Kain = Caius

  • "Know this. You will kill me Noel" o_O

  • Meh he's good but he's no Kuja

  • Caius Ballad = Such a BOSS.. But somehow SE is going to screw him over. If they put him in Dissidia, that would be sick oO

  • @PwnzooooR i got a feeling he'd be a tad OP in dissidia,

granted i would love to see him and emperor interact, i think caius is the only character he wouldnt be able to control.

.....ok pure fanboyism here but emperor > caius, yah caius did win but emperor destroyed fucking heaven and hell and killed god and satan to become a almighty overarching entity, thats just to badass for words

  • @jsh020 true, but we haven't really seen Caius's true power, have we :P. All this time he was fighting for Yuel, trying to protect all the Yules etc.. In Dissidia he is probably not going to remember anything so he might go rogue with all the powers :P And didn't SE state that Caius is the most powerful villain in any FF series ( if not, then one of the most powerfull)

  • @PwnzooooR well if caius didnt retain any memories then he wouldnt be a bad guy.

and i think we have already seen why they said hes the strongest in the series, he was the only villain who won

  • @jsh020 heh yeah :P But still^^ I like Caius for some reason, he is just badass :P

  • @jsh020

I forgot Emperor. Emperor is the only FF character can defeat Cauis with the exception of Kefka and Sephiroth.

  • @PwnzooooR I was thinking the exact same thing. They should TOTALLY put him in in the next dissidia. He actually wins in the end, something I cant remember any FF boss doing at the moment, except for maybe Kefka.

  • @dudeiamthedude Yeah mate, I don't want them to screw Caius over, by making them beat him. I mean he did what he set out to do. He mind fucked them basically :P. But he is a badass. Caius vs Sephirot vs Kefka. lol

  • @PwnzooooR Goes like this in this FFA: Kefka annoys the shit out of them, so they both gang up on Kefka. Kefka gets killed, but not before killing Caius with Light of Judgement. Caius just comes back though, lol. Then Caius and Sephiroth have an epic duel, to where Caius wins by either Comet, or Jet Bahamut.

Being unable to die and knowing all of time kinda helps in your favor.

  • @dudeiamthedude hahaa epic dude :P The ultimate battle. but still i don't think Caius has shown how really badass he is, when he was fighting Noel, it looked like to me that he was holding back. idk why I think that, but there must be more to it :P & we finally got a villain who happens to not be a crazy mental person that goes crazy and goes on a killing spree :P

Seriously I would pay to watch Sephiroth vs Caius in a CGI battle lol because you have to admit, Sephiroth is awesome :)

  • @PwnzooooR Well in the end he wanted to lose, therefore winning. So... yea. Wonder what would have happened if "Killing" him would actually stop his plans. Because either way, If he lost, Etro dies. If he won, Etro dies. Such a master plan could only be pulled off by the single person that the goddess herself trusted enough to contain her strength.

Well if you think about it, he was kinda insane. But in a logical way, I guess.

Either way, he makes more sense than Seph's motivation.

  • @dudeiamthedude Master plan!! , wonder what happens next, in the DLC's or if they ever make FF13-3. Because we all know he is not dead, in the end you can see him talking about how he succeeded by making them think that he was dead etc :P

Because he stabbed himself, otherwise he can only be killed by a Guardian/Noel and Noel didn't really kill him xD. And Etro's heart. I just cant wait :/

  • @PwnzooooR he is dead

listen to what he says to noel and serah

the heart of chaos beats in my chest if it would stop beating etro wil die and the shadow of vallhala wil be unleashed and history wil be whiped out

that happend to an extend(they stopped at the point though) the darkness escaped and so wil it engulf the world once more and who knows

he is dead though due to the goddess etro died aswell

  • @DarkDyllon Gather 160 Fragments and you will see. If you paid close enough attention. Many times in the game it says "There is no such thing as time, life or death in valhalla. Time doesn't flow as it should" Why do you think he chose to bring the fight into valhalla in the first place? It was a double edged sword.

  • @PineappleAlex im at 154 fragments(damned serendipity) so i dont know that part yet and im not gonna look it up on youtube not to spoil it:P

but also earlier if you do the paradox endings the 1 where you kill caius with the paradox scope on during the noel solo fight

noel takes over his heart basicly because hes to weak to resist its power

while later on when he actualy grows stronger he kills caius(didt want it)

but due to him being stronger he didt took it over and etros dies

    creating valhalla

  • @DarkDyllon It didn't create valhalla. It released the chaos in the heart making the world the same concept as valhalla. He didn't kill Caius though. Because there is no such thing as death in Valhalla. Where you fought him. Which is why when he said he killed lightning to serah and noel and you see lightning at the end. She is only in a crystallised form

  • @dudeiamthedude

I disagree. all of this because of a GIRL? he isn't really evil

  • @Retrostar07 A good villain doesn't have to be evil, heck. Some great series have villians who are actually fighting for a greater cause than your own. But ideals clash.

  • @RoyAndKimble i beleave that caius was the first villain that actualy didt want power but just wanted yeul to live normally withoud the damned visions of the future

  • @Retrostar07 he isnt evil wel he is due to him wanting to destroy the entire timeline but he does it to protect yeul from seeing the future again

    cant wait til ff13-3:P

or a DLC that wil finish the ending since it sayt to be continued

  • @Retrostar07 Rofl I have a great comment for this one: Yesterday I was playing minecraft multiplayer server, and one of my most trusted teammates decided to blow up my entire island, ya know why? He was excited and crazy because he just got a girlfriend. Then he left the group, the bastard.

  • @PwnzooooR Cloud vs. Caius... Big Sword vs. Bigger Sword... sweet

  • @AnimeFreak6781 Caius" Lose yourself in battle, and rejoice!".. I think Caius would win lol. ^^ Cloud would be like "Your sword is so BIG oO"

  • Best "post enix" final fantasy. This series may still have life in it.

  • the best soundrack ever

  • A friend told me that Caius and Sephy are going to have a battle in Dissidia. I hope that's true, that would be so awesome to see.

  • @95A1140 square would just be stupid if they leave caius out of dissidia, granted he may be a tad bit.....to overpowered

  • @wendysnailland but if they were supposed to die at Augusta Tower then why didn't they?

Actually, fuff. I'm not going to try to understand the time travel concept anymore.

  • @TrueTubePoops wendy explained it lol, They fought the probubability. Battled the odds. It's not that hard to grasp

  • @LordRoto Yes, but in how did they die at Augusta Tower if they didn't die at Augusta Tower? Is there some version of reality where they went to Augusta Tower and died? How come it wasn't explained or shown? Or did they never die at the Tower at all but Caius thought they did?

  • the reason caius won is just because the protagonists were weak.

  • @organnerhure Yeah, it's serah's fault she wasn't reincarnated like yeul was. sure

  • Fighting Caius like, what, 8 times throughout the game did get a little repetitive though... =\

  • @EvanescenceBlade 3 of the fights against him were optional lol

  • @EvanescenceBlade only 4, if you dont count his bahamut forms

  • im lookin 4 the song that plays wen caius does an attack it plays wen fighting lightning in beginin

  • @komujimaru eternal fight, thats what song your looking for

  • I kinda loved XIII-2. Fuck the reviewers.

  • @WhiplashSL fuck the reviewers? quite litterly only one reviewer gave the game a score less and a 7.5 and that was just edge magizine aka one of the worst ones out there currently

hell the games gotten a few perfect scores to boot

  • @jsh020 I'm pretty sure they state that "XIII-2 fixes all the problems that XIII had", yet they proceed to give it a lower score than what XIII got, like GameInformer did.

  • @WhiplashSL oh yah, thats BS, its just a clusterfuck though

like gameinformer said the gameplay was amazing but story sucked

playstation magizine then says the story is a beautiful tale with great characters and so much heart but hates the gameplay

honestly the only reviewer that seemed to actually play the game was gametrailers, and their usually awful so its kinda surprising

  • @jsh020 I actually loved the story in XIII-2, needless to say it was confusing at first, with the whole Paradox Effect and whatnot, but it made sense after the Bresha Ruins.

  • @WhiplashSL yah i agree but i though 13's story was better and ultimately 13 was better

i though noel and caius were 2 of the best characters square has ever written but serah taking the top shots held it back and aside from hope all the original characters got buped down to side characters

i wish they would have spent more time on it, fix the frame rates, and make it longer, also have more party members, hey 13-3/dlc sequel pretty much forces noel, hope and sahz to party up so theres that

  • @jsh020 I never had frame rate problems, aside from my ventures into 4XX Academia.

  • @WhiplashSL 4XX is where its most apparent, all the academia were bad with the frame rate

you can tlel they didnt finish what they original set out to do int he time they were shooting for

  • @jsh020 But for a game that was in development for a year (XIII launched in March of 2010, while XIII-2 launched in January of 2012), it's really impressive.

  • @WhiplashSL incorrect, it was in development for borderline 2 years, 13-2 start in january of 2010 before it had even released in america, to top that off square did not work alone, tri-ace developer of star ocean was a magor helpt to the development of this game.'

yes its impressive to make a 20 hour game in that time but seeing how 13 was only in development for even less time than 13-2(13 didnt start development till 08) and that game was 40 hours its quite disappointing

  • @jsh020 13 started development in 2006 i believe dont quote me though

  • @3andathumbdowm in technicality 2005, but that wasnt the 13 we got, it was a version for the ps2 that got canned and restarted, just like versus they worked on it here and there but it never went into full production till 2008(versus went into full development last year)

so yes in technicality the games been in development since before 08 but not really.

  • @jsh020 ya it was something along those lines. i remember a trailer being released in 2006 but as you said not even close to the 13 we got in the end

  • @3andathumbdowm that was a cgi trailer showing what they wanted the battle system to be like. 13-3 was alot more closer to that trailer than 13 was, and im only saying that cause of the odin and caius's first final boss form fight where the battle stage was moving

  • I like that Caius is likeable, and not just evil like regular villiains. It's nice to have an insight into why a person chooses to do something, instead of the run-of-the-mill crazies who just want to see shit hit the fan sometimes.

  • @sesshomaru022 agreed he had a reason for all this, for Yeul.

  • This theme is on par with One Winged Angel no doubt. Best villain themes I've ever heard on ANY videogame PERIOD. However as a villain, Sephiroth is still miles ahead IMO. Caius may have "won" but he just lacked that certain... Evil wickedness about him...

  • I think someone resurrected Wagner to do this song O_O Wait...Valhalla, Lightining looking like a Valkyrie and riding Odin...Awww, clever clever Square~ *adjusts monocle*

  • Why does he look like kain

  • Holy shit, Caius was is fucking GENIUS.

  • @JegLikerKylling *was a

  • @JegLikerKylling Too bad he's in this game and not one of the other FF games

  • Dunno why but when I first saw Caius I thought of Kain (FFIV)

plus they have somewhat similar names :P

    random thought of the day.

  • @reklom2334 if u played dissidia 012, kain and caius is voiced by the same person.

  • RIP:

Caius, the greatest villian of all time, with intentions and the will of a god.

You won in the end, now let's pray by some paradoxial twist that you are still alive.... I want to spoon you later.

  • @RoyAndKimble he is still alive, search fornthe secret ending.

  • @krat0s9001

    *Sigh....

He is dead, that secret ending was from the "beginning" of the game.

  • @RoyAndKimble sorry but it wasn't, you're talking about the second one where Caius talks to the player.

  • @RoyAndKimble no the secret end is after, the 2nd secret ending is but thats only what replaces the opening after the games done

caius wasnt kidding when he said he was immortal, the guy litterly can not die

  • @RoyAndKimble hes not dead

  • @jsh020 Yeah... He is dead anywhere time cannot flow.

That secret ending was at the beginning of the game.

  • @RoyAndKimble dude just listen to the freaking diolouge, hes talking about how etro and light are dead, the world is in chaos, and how every time anotomly has been fixed and the future has been chosen, why the hell would he say this stuff if this was before the game

and like i said, your probably getting the secret ending mixed up with the scene that replaces the opening after you beat the game 100%. caius is alive dude. and hes so far the only villain to win

  • @jsh020 Caius is not alive...

If you understand, time does not flow where he died, he cannot exist within ANY reality.

He still won, but he is dead....

*Sigh... He knows the outcome... so that's why he said in the beginning...

Stop trying when you evidently haven't put enough thought into this.

  • Never really thought about it till now, but this theme almost serves as a precursor to his victory. For instance, at 1:34 it sounds very triumphant, as though he had already won then and there. Brilliant work on the artist's part.

  • ladies and gentleman, the new One Winged Angel. move over, Sephiroth. we have a new fave villain and his theme is more badass and he actually did what he set out ot do.

  • @kingofmonsters14

wow. he is badass but he isn't memorible. Kefka and Sephiroth are still better.

  • @Retrostar07 I disagree. I thought he was memorable. The scene with him and Noel on Valhalla's shores is one of my favorites from ANY RPG.

  • @Retrostar07 okay. but Caius actually completed his goal and destroyed the world. true, we all know Kefka did but he got killed in the end. Sephirtoh didn't even come close but got to give him credit for summoning a mideor. Caius, on the other hand, made his goal a reality and destroy the Goddess Etro. and then the game ends, signifilly that Caius is the first villain that won and kept his victory. well, until a DLC or XIII-3 comes.

  • @kingofmonsters14 Caius' goal was to save Yeul which meant destroying the 'true' world. Sephiroth did come close, as he had JENOVA Absolute and achieved his 'safer' form as well as the Meteor heading for Earth. Then later plagued the land with a disease. He did a damn sight better than most villains. And Caius wasn't out to win, he was out to save Yeul. Bearing the pain of a thousand Yeul's he corrupted the timeline to save Yeul. Etro was his means, not his end.

  • @JustARTificial

Correct. People forgot that Caius wasn't even destorying the world because some evil purpose. He did this to SAVE YEUL, not ruling or conquering the world like II or XII and destorying the world like V and VI. I still top Kefka and Sephiroth as the two best unique villains because their purpose and personality.

  • @kingofmonsters14

I know but Kefka and Sephiroth's characters outshine Caius and they are more evil. Caius did this because of one girl.

  • Comment removed

  • @kingofmonsters14 Not to mention his sword is more badass than Seph's and Clouds combined!

  • @kingofmonsters14

    Couldn't agree more. :D

  • Liam O' Brien, always playing the complicated bad guy - good guy character.

Me: "Caius is a bad guy!"

    SE: "Not exactly..."

Me: "Kain is a bad guy!"

    Square: "Not Exactly..."

Me: "GAARA IS A BAD GUY!"

    Masashi Kishimoto: "Not Exactly..."

    Me: >.<

  • @CrimsonVermillioneye If they make another Dissidia, SE would be balls to not include Caius! I want to see the villains have this conversation! XD

  • I gotta say. Caius is actually the best ff villain in a long time. Since Kuja, actually. Im putting aside spin offs by the way (I liked Genesis).

  • Lyics in english: GODDESS OF DEATH, I have sworn to keep beloved GODDESS OF DEATH, save that during straight lines BUT IN THE HEART OF CHAOS OR PROPERTY shall make war against occurs and I will go WAY! Translation: GODDES of Death, 1 Keep WILL MY VOW MY BELOVED, GODDES of Death, 1 WILL SEE TO IT IS TIME That STEERED The Right Direction THOUGH DRAWN BY 1 AM The Heart of BEAUTIFUL CHAOS OR FORTUNE; 1 shall Bear IT works are AND me and 1 shall make

  • Just finished this game, Final Fantasy never disappoints me, never.

  • @Beatheduck Say that to the millions of people who died in the new cocoon

  • I have never seen a villian this mysterious.

It took me a while to figure this guy out, a lot was explained about him in the end...

And thats when he became real badass!

  • That's an interesting outfit you got there, Kain.

  • Caius, Grimoire Weiss, Kain and many more outside FF... Liam O'Brien is a great voice actor...

btw: imo this villian theme is really one of the best in all FF (but my favourites are Kuja´s and Seymour´s theme, they´re somehow related i think)

  • The game was great i hope there will be a 13-3

  • The ONLY FF boss that actually accomplished his goal! What a Great Villain!

  • Caius: Hey guys guess what?

    Sephiroth: What?

    Caius: I won.

    Kefka: Bullshit!

    Caius: No man. I won!

Exdeath: Bad guys can't win. You're going to screw up in some way in the near future.

Caius: Square Enix wouldn't screw me over, right? Right?

    *silence*

  • @CrimsonVermillioneye Chocolina: I won, the game of life, choco-bobo-lina! *flaps wings*

  • @CrimsonVermillioneye Ah, so you played through the end I see, but yes, sadly in many ways, he won. Time's screwed up due to everyone jumping around too much, the goddess dies because of caius's heart was the heart of the goddess (but wait...), and Serah dies due to seeing the future too much, there by ever hoping to stop him now. I'm curious to anyone reading this, what are your thought about this? (Yes, while it has not been confirmed, there will be a XIII-3, waaaaa....)

  • @CrimsonVermillioneye

The only villain to win. Every other one had a few minor victories and won some small battles. But Caius won the war.

  • @CrimsonVermillioneye

Caius : Well, now that I think about it, I did destroy the timeline so now that future don't exist anymore who cares xD

  • THE GODDESS IS DEAD!

  • only think i wish his character design had diff. remove the white random fur lined boots and some more well placed armor pieces! but other than that! AWESOME!

  • Best part starts at 1:34!!!

  • what disc is this on i bought rhe collectir edition and it came with the sound track i just wanna listen to the every day caius > sethiroth

  • @baileyk740 Disk two, man. It's track number 16. If you look on the left part of your case, where the game is, you'll find a booklet behind the game manual that has the track listing.

  • No other man can look as sexy in purple better than him

  • Better than One Winged Angel?

    I think so :D

  • Willing to sacrifice humanity, life/death and time to save a girl. Now that's A MAN

  • Epic!

  • Caius was never a bad guy in my eyes

  • -_- y do people type in 'Caius theme' to talk about Sephiroth...plz...stfu it's CAIUS THEME
