I´m from La PAz and i do also spearfishing, i mean legally cause I just catch fish for eating it, but this guys are destroying our sea-life, that really sucks. We should all do something, and the government should do even more!!
I cant belive how the mod change our minds and how we think, sorry por las grocerias pero aunque sea cierto y no lo dudo digo que el video se ve falso por el equipo y las capturas, yo no mataria nada que no me quite el hambre, que hace profepa? SOLO ESPERO QUE CUANDO LOS SERES DEL MAR REGRESEN A TIERRA NO NOS JUSGUEN IGUAL A TODOS, THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
this video can be fake, i mean the camera men give some money a estos pendejos, tenian que ser de guaymas, because they are killing even the non edible or high market value fish
pinches gringos igualitos a bush, he will send naci seals to protect the fish and declare the sea of cortes a usa posesion
There is nothing fake in this video. I live here and have seen the destruction these people wage first hand, leaving NOTHING alive in a reef when they are gone. They take all from the legal fishermen whose communities are left with NOTHING to live.
What you dont seem to understand is that if they kill ALL today what the hell are they gonna eat tomorrow? The fact is not to stop fishing, but doit properly. If not there wont be nothing for nobody.
Another perspective: in 2004, one state (Louisiana) legal, commercial catch is over 1,000,000,000 pounds (that's 9 zeros). Source: Lousiana DNR. The practice complained here, in an attempt to pull in donor's cash, is 1/1000th of that catch on an annual basis--that' 0.1% of ONE US state.
But balanced perspectives aren't sensational and won't pull in cash for Portland-based Seawatch, will it?
Here's a perspective: What did Seawatch do since coming down in 93 to help the Mexicans transition to small scale fishing (family-based hook/line, spearing, taking out tourists..). Zero. I guess that little detail is not sexy enough to pull in donor's money, we'll leave it to the Mexican locals to deal with how they feed their families... Give us your money, and we'll demand they stop today, never mind that there is no jobs, no prospects--who cares about the local Mexicans anyway.
Nice scare tactic video and pulling the heartstring for cash. FYI: This is poaching, and the average Mexicans will report it readily. The practice seen here is illegal in Mexico, period. Poaching happens everywhere, even in our own more "enlightened" backyard. Actually, if one compared what is here here to the destructive and legal trawling we do off Mississipi, Florida, etc... this spearing ought to get an green award by Greenpeace--no joke.
Patetico.
