I'm getting an emerald in July. Do you have any advice for a would be owner. I've done tons of research, and I plan on getting one from Emerald Forest in California :) Im not sure what types of toys to offer haha, they seem so playful though :)
alright. it must not be to often though cause i dont believe i have ever heard one unless in the jungle that loud call is their mating call or just monkeys.
He really is great. toucanets require a diet which is quite different from the majority of pet birds, and they really like to have a lot of attention and affection and be played with, and of course plenty of space to hop around and stretch their wings. I let mine out of the cage a lot so he can fly all around. I have a website that I wrote about toucans and toucanets for more info, I can message the URL to you if you'd like.

do they make noise? i dont mind it its just that id never heard it =)

they do make noise, not nearly as much as most birds though. They purr, cluck, snarl, hiss and make other noises too.

With some exceptions (Hawaii coming to mind) it is legal to keep a toucan as a pet in the US.
