I remember the first time I heard this song in my car a cold rainy afternoon in December; the car got filled with sun and soul! Gee, I'm still doomed! This Video still works; it has a very seducing style. I l o v e it!
@MarlonMillburn : I love your comment, and you have a lot of heart and class....and the best taste! I miss RP so much! So much good music we missed when he died so young, yet he left us so much. :) Pamela
OMG. This is such a fabulous track, it makes me feel so happy! Thank you for this - it's 'made my day' - ha ha. Do you, by any chance, have a clip of Robert's version of the Todd Rundgren classic - CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS? It was amazing, and much better than the original. xxx
ok guys...I´m drunk. This song was my favorite during the last months...
It reminds me of my relationship with my girlfriend... it´s not like it used to be. I don´t know... times have changed or something. She´s the best girl in the world, but somehow everthing has changed... I don´t know what to do.... but until I know it, I´ll hear this song! Greetings from Germany
Even though he is dead, and is forgotten by the new generation of people. His music will be constantly rediscovered and cherished. Long live Robert Palmer! R.I.P
There can be little doubt that this musical giant is now looking down on us from heaven, sporting his 'trademark' smile, happy at the fact we enjoy his music so much!

YES...Long time Fan... really a genius in his own right right ? In reterospect he had a flavour of a song style & craft that blended Reggae , Soul , Rock ... way ahead of his time in recoginizing & implimenting that FEEL in a well thought out musical landscape & lyric that was oso smooth but with an edge...This BTW is an awesome performance!!!!!!!!!
Bittersweet song! Especially in this video, as Robert appears almost phantom-like...Never will be another man like him! Hope you know how much you are loved Robert Palmer! (and I believe he does)......HE OUGHT TO KNOW BY NOW.....
I'm going through a tough time right now ... so I'm drowning the world out by listening to this with my headphones on. I reckon I'm going to listen to it over and over again ... I just love this song and the beautiful man singing it. Thank you, Mr Palmer, for helping me to get through the evening.
@SuperHurricane6 I just wanted to say that it's awesome that this song helps you out, and makes you feel better, during tumultuous times. I completely resemble that remark, and I'm pretty sure that one way or another, music (and other arts, too of course!) will save the world. *hugs to Palmer* I hope somehow he knows that his music is omnipresent and positively affecting our lives. Time to hit "replay!"
Magnificent lyrics and melody. A lesson learned how loving from the Heart and not what Hollywood conditioned us to believe love is: I NOW get it. :-)) What a beautiful voice Robert Palmer has; those lyrics reaching right to MY HEART. What a gift from My Angel Being. Came through once again with a Gem. Thank You!!! To the poster of this Vid of beauty thank you so it could be shared with me. <3
Who wrote these lyrics?...wonderful and so classy and intelligent.JUST LIKE MR. PALMER...hope he can see from heaven how much he is loved....and I think he can!!!!
Hey, Robert ..we miss you Babe..your manific Voice, your smile at your plays..and your great outfits(..and tie`s..*smile*) are uniquiley..in the sky you for all..
Palmer's father was a British naval intelligence officer stationed in Malta. Palmer moved with his family to Scarborough, Yorkshire in 1959. Influenced as a child by blues, soul, and jazz music on American Forces Radio, Robert Palmer joined his first band, The Mandrakes, at the age of 15 while still at Scarborough Boys' High School.
If there ever was a role model for solid musicians, he was it, still waiting for his successor! What concepts for videos! As real as it ever got for me!
Every time I watch one of his videos, I still can't believe this talented, versatile (and by all accounts simply wonderful) man is gone. Like many, I think this song was written for Mary, and if she ever visits, I hope her heart is warmed by all these expressions of enduring affection for RP. If it's still a loss for us, I can't imagine what it must be like for her, but she must know she brought him the happiness he told us all to take a chance on.
effortlessly cool, great voice in ANY style he chose..i was envious of the man when he was with us, now i wish i could still be. Johnny and Mary is a song i listen to everyday, to me it feels there's an under-current of sadness musically?. the vocals and guitar parts are great. of course that was mr palmers diversity which very few karaoke stars.. oops! i meant Top Stars have now. missed!!!
Wow. Robert Palmer was immensely talented. He was taken too soon ... I still cant believe hes no longer with us, he had so much more to give. No doubt about it - he was one of a kind. Not only did he have an amazing voice but he was strikingly handsome, always incredibly well-dressed and ... quite simply a thoroughly decent guy. He was never defined by any one particular style of music. This song & the video are AWESOME, so iconic! God Bless you Robert, your music will live on forever!
Robert, you are a great player ..it´s a fantastic song. In the sky you can it singing with your pefect clothes (*smile*) and finger tapping anytime..I miss you, baby..

This song really touches my heart.. and I agree.. it is a shame we will never hear what could have been.. what an awesome talent.. Thank you, Robert, for sharing you voice and your soul with us through your beautiful songs..
First time I've heard this song... fits in nicely with the rest of his stuff. A little mellower, which kind of makes sense, as he was getting older. Shame we'll never know what else he would have been able to bring us.
This song was on the radio when i was born, and i haven't heard this song since but i somehow know ALL THE WORDS! i'm proud to have been named after a great musician like him
Very clever key changing; zingy Strat tones; exploding bomb drumming; and the cool dude vocals of Robert Palmer....compare to today's scruff bags with joined up eyebrows staring down at their grotty trainers...I MUST be getting old!! The young 'musical' troglodytes...all bass and drums, and any guitar mutilated by distortion effects...YUCK!! Roll on total deafness if that's all we're going to get!! 2 rusty six inch nails is the cure to 'gangsta rap'!!
Clear to see by the numerous smiles during the clip that Robert had a good sense of humor. Never had the chance to meet him, but saw him once on 57th in NYC going into a restaurant with his entourage. Seemed like a gentleman. In today's world of rapper thugs that is a rare thing.
Why is this song not on iTunes USA? The album isn't either. Any ideas? I know there are songs that appear on iTunes UK site but not on the USA site, which can be quite frustrating. RB had something a lot of artists don't, and that is class.
