All of the very worst opinions I've heard about Carter serve to paint a picture of a Presidency that was still nowhere near as bad as the tenure George W. Bush.

I remember a failed 'rescue' effort, brought on by the world thinking Carter was a weak President. Unfortunately the world was right.

BTW, America was the largest creditor nation in the world but turned into the largest debtor in only two years under Reagan. Also, we ripped the canal zone away from Columbia and created Panama in order to "Legally" purchase the Zone.

Carter's approach to foreign policy, says Young, was to listen to what the other countries wanted to do. He says that as if it were a compliment.

Jimmy Carter was so set up. From the arms for Iran travesty to the manipulation of the oil markets. Jimmy was blamed for everything from the demise of the American steel industry to the Tea Pot Dome scandal.
