First, seatao is around 500lbs, he is one of the LARGEST wild feline in South Africa right now. Secondly, JV, who you are a fan of, who is shown in these videos, who has over 40 years experience with Big Cats has mentioned that he has interacted with both cats, and a tiger would beat a lion most of the time. A lion may chase away a tiger but if you put them both in a cage where they cannot escape, where a tiger is cornered and forced to fight, you have a dead lion.

What people fail to see is that most if not all the accounts ( Lions and Tigers ) all happened in captivity. In captivity, there behavior is very different than in the wild. In the wild both have their survival instinct always at a maximum. In captivity, they associate humans as there means of survival so they stop being dependent on themselves and depend on humans.

Yes, I don't say that lions ALWAYS win in the wild, just that in the only account where one side won the lion killed the tiger. There are a few more encounters, but they were always standoffs - shows again that they're pretty much equally matched.

@bigwaverider1000 So with that being said when both are in captivity, both well fed and taken care of, it depends on the individual animals personality. The animal with an aggressive personality will almost always win in a fight. The less aggressive animal is just so much more dependable on humans for survival that it depends on the human caretaker to stop the fight. Usually its too late though.

The bigger stronger male lion takes the pride and the bigger stronger tiger takes the territory. Now if the biggest of the two WILD species some how met, the tiger will most defiantly win hands down. Siberian tigers are the second biggest carnivore right behind to the polar bear.

- It truly depends on the tiger, let me say first "Yes".... of course tigers can drive off 3 or 4 lions as same as a lion did. But reasons for lions attacking ruler lions are for 1 purpose to kill and claim his females and land.
