  • Bass players like this are the reason why the bass should have more presence in music.

  • Holy shit, this is amazing. Wow...

  • keep it up man =)

  • that a pretty epic song, i love it

  • Oh my (insert bad word here) goodness. Talk about an inspiration for even 4 strings.

  • This sucks.

  • @yumadplayah Fuck you, he could shit something more beautiful than you could ever conjure up out of your dismal perception of what life is for you, you cocksucker.

  • Absolutely beautiful! I subscribed! :)

  • +1 for great music

    +infinity for the google shirt

  • No...Im sorry dude....but it's nothing like Zander. BUT...I had jim jams when hear you playing.

  • @kozkakoz I mean you are really talanted.

  • what effects do you use to get that sound?

  • i would actually pay for your music, you got my respect dude^^

  • what bass is that? sounds really cool.....*love that song

  • @rifaTBS Thanks. It is a Spector Legend 6 string bass.

  • @drchicken3000

really cool......last question...what tuning do you used for that? :)

Thanks for time, and grats again for that song!

  • @rifaTBS I used all fourth intervals here, the standard 6-string bass tuning. From lowest to highest BEADGC. I've been thinking about using a tuning more similar to the guitar in the future though..

  • Wahnsinn ......... super gespielt ! Schöner Sound !

    Liebe Grüße

    Peter

  • love your videos! could you tell me what kind of video camera you use, and how you get that sound quality? do you use an external mic?

  • Hey! I record the audio and video seperate, then sync them together on the computer. I use a Sony HD video camera (which I DO NOT recommend buying) for the video. For recording audio, I have two options. The keyboard behind me is a Yamaha Motif XS. I have sampling memory in it, so I can just record straight into the keyboard and the put the audio file on a usb disk if I want. I also have an Olympus PCM recorder, which I record into as well.

  • I use the keyboard for any effects, so I'm plugged into that regardless of how I decide to record. To sync the audio with the video, you can use any generic video editor, or the video sequencer in Blender 3d (a free open-source program). Also, I record a lower quality audio with the mic built in the camera so syncing the higher quality audio from the keyboard is just a matter of listening to the two tracks interact.

  • Thanks for replying, great info. I'm looking to start recording some of my originals and even classical pieces on my upright yamaha. I'm not sure if recording the audio and video separately would be the best idea in my case, they'd have to be synced perfectly or it'd look really weird. I think what I'm going to do is get a camera with a plug for an external mic and buy a nice recording mic..? The video quality isn't half as important as the sound quality to me. Tell me what you think?

  • By recording separately I meant that I play the song, but have the camera record the video and the keyboard record the audio. I only play the song once. The audio and video are in sync just as much as using a microphone. For recording acoustic instruments though, getting a good mic to plug into the camera would be best -- you do not have to manually sync the audio to the video.

  • I would recommend you just research into a good microphone set-up (what types and how many mics are generally used for acoustic pianos) and get a decent video camera. Like you said, the audio quality is what is more important.

  • Wow, that is really beautiful!!! Such a deep and inspired composition. Love it!!

  • I learned to warble from you about eight months ago! I posted a comment on your video of jazz whistling...

  • Hey, I remember that! I hope you're having fun with the warbling. It takes a lot of practice to get to the point where you can control it well enough to use it musically, but when you get to that point it is really fun. I hope you keep whistling! And playing.

  • absolutely gorgeous! i love it so much. so, the reverb and delay are both coming from your keyboard? it sounds so amazing, both the tone and composition. 5 stars!

  • Yes. I use my keyboard for doing all the effects processing. I also have a little bit of tremolo as well as delay and reverb. Also, my bass is tuned slightly lower than standard: in between standard and one note flat. It gives it a cool tone.

  • wow man, i admire it so much :D

  • amazing. what is the tuning? i know that's a 6 string bass but is it tuned BEADGC?

  • Yes, it is 'standard' six string bass tuning; all the strings, though, are a few cents lower than the actual notes BEADGC. It gives it a neat sound.

  • Amazing ... I discovered this video of yours by lucky accident, and now I can't stop listening :-)!

Beautiful composition, and really well played. Thank you for sharing your talent!

  • Thank you.

  • what's your amplification set up? i like the sound

  • The bass is plugged into the keyboard (yamaha motif xs8) directly behind me, which records the bass and processes the effects (mostly reverb and delay). I usually have the sound play out the monitors, which are on the floor; in this video though, I have earphones run through the back of my shirt and to my ears (you can see the earphone cable at about 2 seconds). I sync the video with the audio in Blender 3d's sequence editor. Blender is an open-source CG art program. Hope this helps :)

  • You are going to be big someday, Keep it up!

  • Very nice work man!!

  • DANIEL. Im gonna freakin kiss you mannn. this is amazing work.

  • this is amazing and I love it

  • I like the shirt...

  • I'm actually wearing that same shirt right now...

  • Epic video. Anytime you need a vocalist, cellist, bassist, or guitarist, just ask!

Your bass set up has a very snappy an ethereal tone to it. Can we get a vid or something explaining your recording set up?

  • I usually just use my motif xs8 synth (behind me) for the effects, then use an Olmypus handheld recorder to get it recorded in wave format. I've heard that you can also do resampling to get your stuff into wave format as well..

  • wow, this is beautiful! Nice work, daniel!

you're a great basist. Nice transitions, and awesome sound. Keep up the amazing work!
