JIMMIE VAUGHN HAS LOTS OF SOUL .COMPLETELY DIFFRENT STYLE FROM HIS BROTHER WHERE STEVIE IS CLOSER TO ALBERT KING AND OTHER KINGS ,JIMMIE IS MORE LIKE EDDIE TAYLOR OR LUTHER TUCKER AND MAGIC SAM
Fender Coronados are Fender's black sheep due to their pickups, which are on the weak side, prone to feedback and microphonics, sometimes painfully bright, and darned near impossible to fix. But, as you can see, they can be used quite well in the right hands!
What a groove...JV is king of rhythm man - no wonder the Fabulous T Birds had such a cool groove. Ya gotta love it when you play so selective, you got less room for mistakes.
ain't that the truth! Jimmie is so conscious of the whole band sound, he is the king of the rhythm players, those first 4 T-Birds records are the standard for me. and the solo stuff he's playing here is SO tasty and hard to play! he really digs into the spirit of Eddie Taylor, nobody else is playing like this. Derek O'Brien is awesome too, as is the whole band.
@jayscott49 dont know who you are but just wanted to say I agree with every comment of yours that I've read. The early T-Birds are still the benchmark for any blues band.
@roywebber@roywebber - hey Roy! thanks, i'm just a fan, saw the early T-Birds allot, my benchmark too. do you have the Rockpalast DVD? also, the Omar Dykes 'Big Town Playboy' CD is f**king brilliant, maybe the best JV ever imo, all the way into Eddie Taylor and then some with the same line-up as 'Jimmy Reed Highway' and also produced by Derek O'Brien, check it out and thanks again!
@jayscott49 -you're welcome Jay. I'm just a fan myself but here in the UK people tend to go for the bluesrock stuff mostly so its always nice to find someone who appreciates the old school styles. Seen clips of the Rockpalast dvd and I'll check that `Big Town Playboy` cd too. Thanks.
@roywebber - it's the same over here, but maybe less so, for everybody who likes this there's dozens of 'tube screamers'. know you'll dig 'Big Town Playboy'!
Little brother Stevie Ray called Jimmie 'the best rhythm player I ever heard'. I saw the T'Birds in1980 and I will second that!
Billy Gibbons is great, too. There's film of him on YouTube playing solo.
There's a few guys - Kid Ramos, Steve Cropper, Rusty Zinn and others. My favourite was Robert Lockwood, alleged stepson of Robert Johnson. His best ensemble playing was with Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson. You probably know all this!
Couldn't help but thinking from hearing the first bars; "that guitar's a tuff cookie even for a genius like jimmie". A tribute to the man he even makes THIS guitar talk. He's the rythm king. Luv'ya also Oh-Mar !!

Love this clip more, every time I watch it. Special mention for Wes Starr on drums with that 'unique' left hand grip, what a groove.

I agree. Jimmy's guitar work here is oozing with that Eddie Taylor sound. Too cool.
