Btw. I bought the moog voyager before I bought this, I use this mostly for fx and arps :D I was thinking about getting the SH-101 but Im not so sure anymore :P
how does htis work then? how do you get the main melody synthy sound that is playing? cos you arent hitting the keys and i dont see a step sequencer- i am a noob to analogue synths...
wondering what synth to make a good first monosynth... i considered the sh-101 but i was turned away by the lack of two oscillators for a nice detune control
A beautiful sounding Sound Engine housed in a crappy case. Damn...this thing has the worst keyboard action i have ever played. Case is made of wobbly plastic. But well...it's very flexible (great Mod-Matrix, Sequencer...) and sounds phantastic. :)
@silverdroid : what do you mean by that? I'm asking because I'm thinking of picking up one of these. The construction should be the same or similar to the prophet5 which is considered one of the best analog synths ever. This is basically the monophonic version of the P5
By construction, I meant physical construction of the synth, not it's sound or architecture. The front panel is a very flimsy plastic, knobs are weaksauce, pots are blah. The mainboard itself is suspended by a few screws whose mounting sheeths pop out easily. The keys for most of the models are horrible, they built some like Minimoogs (uses an actual hammer), the balance use this cheap computer pad that makes contact with plastic.
@cathrynn : oh crap. Well I just bought one. Hasn't arrived yet. Hope that the key action and the construction doesn't bug me too much. Do you know if the p-5 has the same crappy construction and key action?
Resonance is pointless in compositions? Surely you must be some kind of professor of sound design or something! Maybe you should invest in a Casio CZ-101 if basic filter components turn you off.
electronics in the "controls" and "buttons" are getting old, and there is scrap sound when I turn the controls. Does somebody know how to renovate it? Contact spray?
brilliant video demo of the pro one....its such an underrated bit of kit, but prices are starting to creep up to nearly £1000 for a minter, which really does reflect its value as its so much more than a minimoog in terms of sonic depth.
I love my Pro One and P-5 and will never part with them! For those that aren't familier the ProOne has a very fat and distinctive sound and can actually at times be somewhat fatter than a moog! I have compared it side by side and although the mighty moog is legendary-the ProOne can do it one better with it's arp/sequencer and fat sound! You can't beat it even when compared to the minimoog..for the money nothing else compares to the ProOne for sound and bang for the buck value!
Another tip for those wanting one-make sure you get the J-wire version since the keyboard is not it's best feature and can be somewhat flimsy..The J-wire version is much better since you can clean or replace the wires..after cleaning contacts the J-wire version will work fine..another way around this is to simply get a midi/CV converter such as a kenton pro solo like I have and then you can use a midi controller and tweak to your heart's content without having to worry about keyboard issues.
anyone want to trade one of these for my rhodes 73?

both synths are great but the Pro-One is more flexible with 2 VCO´s and the modulation matrix

@retrosound72 Is this better than a Waldorf Pulse for those elastic type basses and metallic overtones? Cheers

Wow. Seeing that DSI put "Pro-One 2" on the circuits for the Mopho, can it sound like this incidentally?

the sound is different
not so organic and powerful as the Pro-One

sounds f*cking amazing indeed, I use it all the time :)

Worst construction in the entire history of synthesizer production! Some people have actually gutted the whole thing and made table tops with it.

No contact spray!!! It destroys the contacts in the time. Clean the contacs with Isopropanol (alcohol) and google for Deoxid from Caig. The best way.

Are you running the 606 into the CV/GATE in? If so, I take it that it automatically syncs with the internal sequencer?
