Hello Sunnchilde & KS, Hitler had to start the the war when he did because Germany was running out of money. The long term effects of Fascism on any economy are disasterous. The depression was broken in Nazi Germany by massive government spending. This spending was paid for by confiscating the assets of their enemies (in Germany before the war, in occupied Europe after), currancy manipulation, and by supressing worker saleries. In fact, Hitler wanted to start the war in 1938 at Munich.
@DingyHarry59 You're probably right. But as crazy as Hitler was, he should have been smart enough not to go to war with Russia. At least not until Europe had completely fallen and the United States was clearly losing the Pacific war. The US was the quarterback in WWII. The only way Germany was going to win WWII, really win it, could only happen with the destruction of America. Germany should have told Russia anything, given them anything to placate them until that was accomplished.
This is so scary. What it seems like is that what Nazi Germany needed was just a little more time and they could have won the war. If they would have had another two years, who knows what would have happened? A stealth bomber with an atomic payload over London and New York? Really scary!
@sunnchilde That is probably true. But Hitler should have started his massive rebuilding of his army 1 year earlier + should have invaded britain before invading the sovjet union. This would have removed an allied staging place for an invasion and avoided all the strategic bombing the allies made. Hitler had too many fronts. Afterall he only had 1 country.
@KageStodder I was just thinking the same thing. If Germany could have delayed the start of the war proper for another year and then made sure to completely destroy England before beginning with Russia, it would have denied the Allies a toehold in Asia. But this is all conjecture. Thank God the Germans made all those mistakes, or the world we live in might be a very different place.
Hello DG, I am of German decent and, yes, we are smart. Thanks for noticing. However, despite their intelegence, the Germans of the 30's and 40's blew some big judgment calls, rejecting democracy, blaming Jews for societies problems. Oh, and declaring war on the US, the industrial and technical giant of the 20th century, in the middle of a war in which industrial production was critical. Also, their best designs never reached full service. Most 1000 Me262s built never flew, no fuel!
This aircraft is not in a "secret" government warehouse. It is at the Smithsonian Institute's Silver Springs, Maryland warehouse (one of dozens of historicaly significant aircraft awaiting the funds required for restoration). Someday, it may be displayed in the National Air and Space Museum. But, that may never happen.
Remember, it is a foreign (and enemy) aircraft. It never went into production or combat nor did it inspire any post-war designs.
@DingyHarry59 there is no way of saying that it didnt inspire post war designs because that is classified information. you should know that the guy who lead the design of the Saturn V rocket was a nazi and designed the first missiles.
There is a well documented chain of R&D done by NASA, the US Navy and Air Force, most of it dating from the early 60's (after Gary Powers' U2 soot down) and the late 70's (after the heavy aircraft losses in the Vietnam War). After radar defeating technologies came to prominence, the qualities of some older aircraft were noticed, like the Mosquito, the Northrop Flying Wing, AND the Horton. None of these aircraft were built for radar properties
now why would THIS still be under high security lock and key at a "secret" govt warehouse? technology and such that is over 60 years old.. that doesn't pose a threat to ANYONE right now should have been restored and put on display for all to see it in a musuem.
@ad220588 Try watching these Northrop Flying Wing YB-49 Test Flight at Hawthorne Airport 1947 Newsreel, Flying Wing YB-35 and XB-49, Restored 1940s Northrop Flying Wing + Flying Wing Northrop N1M & N1M-2.If U Google,"Northrop 1929 Twin Engine Flying" U will see Northrop 1929 Twin Engine Flying that flew 16 years ahead of Germany while Horton's were using Balsa Wood gliders. Accept it Northrop invented the flying wing 16 years ahead of Germany, boy that must break your little Nazi heart!
If U Google "Northrop 1929 Twin Engine Stealth Flying Wing U will see 1st Northrop twin engine stealth flying wing that flew 1929 16 years ahead of Germany. Northrop NM1 twin engine flew in 1939 6 years of Krauts. F-17 flew in late 1970s + don't believe lying Nazi Kraut, Norththrop was 16 years a of the Krauts.USA Air Force 1945 had Northrops 4 Jet engine Stealth Flying Wing Bomber + the Northrop B-2 Stealth bomber is the most advanced flying in the world + USA is Number One! + Germans Suck!
First flight of Northrop fying wing July 1940,1929 aircraft had twin booms and tail like P38 and had lifting fuselage so was not a flying wing-get it right more German Failures lok up Ta154 and He162
@58Vulcan No it did not but the Hoot Bruders plane is piece of junk and had booms you Aussie's are slow witted dullards out to glorify the Nazi losers because Britain and Australia are so behind in aviation your just jealous of American aviation technology the best in the world.
Hortens' jet was the second invisible plane in history. The first was, par hasard, Mosquito. The same materials and the same elegance of contruction were made this.
@fffatman Wrong,,,,,,, the Germans had no aircraft like the Mosquito, look up Goering s statement to his Luftwaffe, when he learned of this aircraft totally made of Canadian lywood.
It could fly so fast, it did not need guns, it could in the Bomber Mode lift same payload as a B14
I could've imagined how stunned those soldiers were when they first saw that fighter. In comparison, the horton wing doesn't look too unusual for today's standards. But back then it didnt look anything like the propeller-driven, straight-winged fighters of the time. They might as well have seen an alien spaceship when they opened the hangar door lol!
I enjoyed this documentary. To me, as somebody with no aeronautical/scientific expertise & purely as a person interested in world war history, I found this very interesting. The 1930s-1940s was a strange time - a lot more advanced stuff was happening than most people care to realise. Thank you for uploading this video.
@vanessamcqueen11 Im glad you enjoyed it. I had alot of fun making it. I led the team that built it. unlike others on this site you sound alot more intellegent than them.
Teh Germans were the first ot creative Cruice Massile [V1] Intercontinetal BallisticeMissles[V2] Anti Tank Guided Weapons[Fritz X]and Anti Shipping Missles [Fritz]. All used for evil
In late April 1945, United States intelligence personnel began a search for top secret German weapons of war, codenamed operation 'Lusty'. They amassed over 6,000 tons of equipment.
Two ships - the HMS Reaper and USS Richard J. Gatling - transported the bounty to the US (operation 'Seahorse')
HMS Reaper carried 40 German airframes, including ten Messerschmitt Me-262 jet fighters, which were flown to France by America's first (unofficial) Jet Squadron - 'Watson's Whizzers'
This is extremely cool! Thank you for adding this documentary, Ispin Techno.
I remember a documentary that said the Horton wing would not actually fly because it was too unstable. It took the development of computers to make flying wings a reality. The B-2 bomber has a bunch of computers that make subtle adjustments. Without those computers, the B-2 would fall out of the sky.
@Ralroost You are right. I was there and let me tell you.... WOW ! I saw the German "Comet" there and also some Mitsubishi sea planes and many others. I got to examine the Horten 229 and it did contain stealth concepts. I have to write about what I saw built into that plane.
@Ralroost Im the guy in the "Hitlers Stealth Fighter" Nat Geo Documentary... I was the lead that built the full scale HO229. Tim Knott. I guess thats what 31 years of doing this work gets you. Access to the "Garber Facility" . There is so much that people just dont understand. They used three basic Stealth concepts in the construction of this aircraft and didnt even know the full impact of what they were incorporating into it. Their "shot in the dark" was pretty close Tks for your interest, TK
@timsfun11 What is it that people dont understand? You dont think they knew what they were doing when they built the 229? It seems the german engineering at the time was pretty advanced in most fields....
Question to all you F22 -worshipping americans; how do you think that you gained your technological edge? You stole pretty much everything from Nazis (jet technology, guided missile technology, stealth technology), and after that you stole the soviet stealth technology utilized in F117!
You have accomplished only one thing; the internet. For that, I bow in front of you since it enables me to read wikipedia, use YouTube and watch porn easily.
@OnlyLifeMatters So get your hand out of your pants and use the Internet to learn about the large number of supposed "Nazi" inventions that were developed or being developed before the Nazis even came to power.
@OnlyLifeMatters Fact: we were testing jet tecnology during WW2 but why build them? we can build 50 or 100 to one P-51 vs ME262 . Dumb Hitler. Fact 2: The last time I checked, we WON WW2 . Ha dude, get a clue. Now go home...
@timsfun11 I am home. Yes, you won WW2 alongside the British Empire, Australia, Canada, Soviet Union (well, Russia's "victory" is fundamental in WW2, not real), China and bunch of other countries. Not alone. Hitler was dumb, yes, because he didn't let his officers win the war for him. He wanted to do it by himself, and, since he obviously sucked big time, he lost due the poor strategic choices.
Knock your insecurity aside with your lame excuses.
@OnlyLifeMatters After it all shakes out, post-modern America gave the world the Masturbation Superhighway, Wal-Mart, and fast food.
We're even past the age of fighting wars with advanced weapons systems. America knows the Tao of cancer better than anybody. In the flesh, cancer can take down the mightiest warrior. In the geopolitical realm, our financial and cultural cancers defeat all. It was our derivatives cancer and Star Wars deception that defeated the USSR, not our weapons!
@InfiniteMushroom Well you are mightiest of all in that respect. Hollywood has made everyone fall in love with the image projected, so the rest of the world stands no chance.
@python238 bullshit, the northrop N-1M first flight was1941, and it was a fying wing like the horten. the XB-35 was a flying wing as well, the first prototypes were build in the early 40´s
@luciano6207 Steal it? you are a fool. Germans in WW2 were only good at one thing... Killing innocent Jewish women and defensive children. America is now and allways will be #1 buddy...
The Slide rule, and the mathematics associated with Logarithims were invented By a matematician in , !6th Cent, Edinburgh Scotland , he also devised the Decimal point, His name J Napier ! wsant to have a rethink !!
If this project would be given more funds and if there wouldnt be lack of materials then thanks to this plane the germans would definetly had won the war.
This is so funny to see you morons discuss about crap!!! In 1944 no such thing as "stealth" was even thinkable. The people of that time were trained to overcome a problem with the strategy of thinking about MORE - stealth means thinking about LESS ! That would have been dishonorable and cowardish! Now why was this thing built? Simple: Wood is cheap and easy form, jet engines needed much fuel and the only-wing design saves fuel = more speed= less respond time. That's all. And flying low...
@tronic2110 Well, the only funny part here is some hobby-moron /wannabe scientists who claim to know better than those Northrop experts. The facs is,besides the improvement of stealth capabilities putting the turbojets inside the body has only extreme disadvantages. It extremely increases the stress on the bodywork (e.g. one reason for the many 'comet' crashes). The test results are very clear:The design of this plane has tested and proven stealth capabilities and this definitely was intended.
@fitspire Fuck me you type even more Crap, the failure of the Comet had nothing to do with where the engines were placed,
Comets failure was due to not,,, understanding then the nature of metal fatigue, in aluminium alloys,
due to the rigidity of the airframe losing flexibility, by the use of rivets along its length, to accomodate plexiglass windows, thus accruing stress points
Your so full of Shit its pointless discussing engineerig,, any further
@keirfree That's the point. And as I said: it was 'one' reason. The stress on the body would have been much lower if they had used engine nacelles. Well, the comet was/is imho one of the best looking planes in history -but unlike the 229 it wasn't necessary not to put them in engine nacelles for technological reasons -like on almost all commercial airliners until now. As a matter of fact, it's much more difficult to put the turbojets into the body/wing than not to.
@keirfree g'day bro, yeah , I was gonna comment on that too.....but I figured after being abused by a plonker , and being told all about stealth, it just want worth it ! Let the dweebs learn for themselves I say. I was not even ragging the Horten, I think its quite a piece of engineering ! But to discuss it with a fuckwit like him is not worth the typing. Frankly , its just embarrassing....cheers mate ( im a kiwi, we say that.... )
the book Mentioned, is worth a read, if your interested in aeronautics esp the Nazi attempts to produce vialble war planes, it delves into the Shady politics, of power and procurement, and the Massive disagreements within the Nazi Air Ministry 33-43 , authors x 2 1 brit and 1 the Grandson of Willi Mesershcimdt, also if you want an insight to the Futility of Allied Bombing " Bomber Boys " the book
7 th May, I am off to RNAS Yeovilton to help celebrate 100 years of R M flying
The swastika was not on the original plane. afaik it was painted to the rear later on by americans for some kind of "dramatic effect". The CGI Horten should not have it.
[quote]"The second version "V-2" built, never had a chance to fly. It was never painted either.
It was captured by American troops in 1945 and taken to the USA as a war prize, where it still remains to be put together for the museum and for public viewing.Today it is rusting away in a hangar. The aircraft is thought to be painted by a GI soldier and is not considered an original Luftwaffe camouflage scheme."[/q]
Do some research before calling others idiots, pathetic dumbass.
i am very sorry about this .... but the Horten brothers started designing these aircraft before radar was even conceived . This particular aircraft had zero chance of trans Atlantic flight ( let alone super sonic......good grief ! ) . As for the " Nazi " nuclear program , .....it was deliberately ( in some peoples opinion ) mislead by Werner Hiesenberg, becasue he knew Hitler was a PLONKER . Their nuke program was not even close to the right track.
@tasman763 I'm also sorry...you're very wrong at this. This aircraft's first flight was 1944. The british radar was built in 1937 and operational at early 1939. The german radar systems were operational at late 1939. And trans atlantic flight has never been the goal of this aircraft, as it was not part of the later "Amerika Bomber" projects of the Hortens or Saenger. It was at best a precursor for those projects. I suggest you try to inform yourself correctly before posting such false "facts"
@fitspire the first Horten tailless design, inspired by Lippisch , flew in 1933 . NOWHERE in the available literature is the concept of " stealth " mentioned ( and I have been reading of the Horten Bros since the 70's )
The idea that the Ho229 might be " stealthy " has been generated in the last few years. A quick look at the blueprints shows that it would NOT have been stealthy ! I suggest you try the same advice you gave me !
@tasman763 Well,Northrop Grumman specialists proved the stealth capabilities of the 229 -therefore they already proved you wrong. And to say, "A quick look" could clarify this question -why should they have tested it?A quick look tells you nothing about the true capabilities -therefore the testing was done. With positive Results. Now tell me EXACTLY who in this world says the Northrop Grumman guys are wrong! And what qualifies this person more than them to judge about this question?
@fitspire Northrop Grumman " proved " NOTHING ! A bunch of modellers made a replica shape, and used Grummans facility . The results " proved " ziich ! ! ! . A quick look at blueprints is all that is necessary IF you understand radar return.....which you ( and the modellers ) obviously do NOT . What " qualifies " me ??? I have been flying since before you were born . And I know what a fact is . And you appear not to . The Horten was designed for low drag, not stealth.
@tasman763 Holy shit... so YOU are the "expert" we shall believe who 1.knows better than Northrop and 2.knows about radar/stealth technology? YOU -who claimed, in 1944 radar wasn't even conceived? !!!-LOL-!!! You -who already proved to know 1.nothing about radar / radar history and 2.nothing about stealth technology. That's a fact, you've be as wrong as possible. And now you really think, someone would assume YOU as an expert of radar/stealth/aeronautics?Congratulations, you scored an own goal.
@tasman763 Oh, I forgot.Northrop employees were in the construction of the replica. As well as the radar testing on the full-scale model was done on an original test facility for stealth tech -done by the professionals of the facility.Don't mix up that facts -by the way that's all in the vid. -So the end of the story is: I certainly don't give a fuck of what a quick view on whatever tells a wannabe about a planes stealth capabilities, who didn't even know there was radar technology used in WW II.
@tasman763 I agree with you whole heartedly! and your, and my assertation that Stealth ie to minimise a radar return, was a technology yet to be conceived, even by the makers of 10 Cm Radar the Brits and the USA after ww2 Windows was the best anti radar, tech even into the 1950s,
@keirfree Wait -you agree with tasman763, that radar technology itself wasnt even conceived when the 229 was designed in the '40s? Because this -exactly- was his point: Stealth tech was impossible to be designed, because radar wasn't conceived. And this is definitely wrong -like most of his theories.
@fitspire What bit of RADAR technology do Not understand
I mention 10cm RADAR RADAR that could produce a resolution, good enough, to allow Target profiling, this was not invented until 1941 + in the UK then given to the USA for Development for in flight operations
Now be a good Fuckwit instead of mouthing of about Technology you do not understand, go & learn about
Lambda= F devided by C
where F is the carrier Fqy,, Lambda = antenna length ,, C speed of light
@keirfree Read correctly:I asked you, if you really agree with someone, who claims radar IN GENERAL not to be even conceived in the '40s.That's what tasman763 said, and that's what you agreed to.And all your insulting wouldn't ever proof you more right. As you've heard in the video, they've tested the stealth capabilities of the 229 on ALL OPERATIONAL (also decimeter band -10cm) radar wavelengths of 1945,and proved the effect.Deep approach on 15m -reaction time reduced to 2,5min, as you could see.
@fitspire I have worked in Stealth tech for 31 years and let me tell you the truth from someone who knows. I have clostly examined the Horten 229 and it does contain three stealth concepts. No doubt. now, another FACT, the Germans were expermenting on carbon absorbing radar waves. This was used in the HO229. If you dont know, please don comment on things you dont know. Say them like you guess or something like that, k
@timsfun11 just another know all punk behind a computer that wants to argue with older people that have the knowledge cuz they were alive at the time I get the same bs ALL the time, they dont teach them shit in school now a DAYS plus they cant get the rap and hip hop outta their asses, 1 23 yr old argued with me about Kennedys speech about secret societies being about the illuminati, i watched the speech live,he called me an idiot,it was about communism the hugest secret societ ever created
@debzeppeliniv I support you 110% todays uneducated idiots would be lost without their spell-checkers but when ti comes to history todays idiots are totally illiterate and have never read a real book or written a report!
@LottoWinner999 wtf are you talkin about? I AM AMERICAN, shit for brains, and I know we bombed Berlin back to the stone age. I grew up near Aberdeen proving ground, in Baltimore, and we got free air shows everyday. They were testing jets back then and they were a sight to behold. Chuck Yeager was 1 of the pilots there. I have no idea why u r giving me the shit, lol. If you don't believe me GOOGLE IT. Damn German, hells bells, dumb ass kids.
@LottoWinner999 I do apologize, I must have clicked in the wrong place, lol, really sorry. I have trouble seeing the screen sometimes, but I am trying to see who I was talking to, Oh well I still can't see it. Please do accept my humblest apologies though. I zigged when I should have zagged. You know though they teach kids "revisionist" history. All the ww2 vets are dying, so there will be no more eye witnesses. We can't let that happen!
@debzeppeliniv Krauts should Google," Northropps 1929 Twin Engine Flying Wing" + discover Northropps twin-engine flying wing that flew 15 years ahead of Germany. Hortens had gliders while Northropp designed, built + flew 3 different versions of Northropp Flying Wing 15 years ahead of Germany. In 1943 USAAF crushed the Luftwaffe to their knees in less than 2 years. Germans are fucking stupid cuz USA owned + pawned Germany. Now German Nazi claim to invent the Hitler Stealth Fighter, LOL, LOL!
That's nonsense what you write. If Americans really the inventor of the stealth technology .... then I would wonder why Germany is today the most advanced stealth technology. See, most modern German submarines, which have in the world the best stealth characteristics. ;-)
@MarabuFx USA U2-Spy-Planes, SR-71 stealth, F-17, US Navy Steatlh killer attack subs in 1970's. U Krauts are ass backwards muther-fuckers who think U invented war. USA invented 1ST Stealth Flying Wing in 1929. Just Google," Northrop 1929 twin engine stealth flying wing" flew in 1929 16 years ahead of Hooter Bruders flying wing. USA has best stealth atomic subs in the world. U Fucking Krauts are biggest two time losers in the military history of the world. We built the A- Bomb 1ST Atomic SUB.
Nuclear submarines ... how boring and outdated. Our submarines have fuel cells and can also fire nuclear missiles. Your best against our submarines have no chance. And that's a fact! Even Israel only buy German submarines and not American ... and why is probably the way? Also, our tanks are the best in the world. This is demonstrated by the sales figures.
@MarabuFx The tank is outdated weapon and only works if you have air superiority. Its obvious Germany did not have air superiority and by the way Germany will never be allowed to have nukes. The US Navy Virginia Class new attack submarine is an advanced stealth multimission submarine that can destroy any German submarine.
It's all right. American technology is always the better. And German technology is crap. And anyway, we Germans are only losers .. and the Americans are always the good winner. Will be true, as you write. Well, now let's be friends. OK? ;-)
@MarabuFx All I want you to do is admit to the truth Northrops 1929 Twin Engine Flying Wing was 1ST + flew in 1929 was 16 years ahead of Germany. Please admit todays Nazi Germans applied the word "Stealth: to when Germany had no idea of it! Its a fact German agents stole the Flying Wing desing from Norhtrop the facts prove it cuz Germans were playing with a glider when Northrop had achieved + used powered flight in 1929, 1940, 1941 + 1947 Northropp with 4 engine jet bomber versus a prototype!
O.k. I admit it :-)) But the Horten brothers have taken over much of Otto Lilienthal. Just as the Horten brothers and Northtrop have known privately and exchanged information. In any case, even when peace reigned. The hoarding have not even begun until 1939 with the development. Let's agree on it, that the development to 50% U.S. and 50% were Germany .. I think it's so true too.
@MarabuFx No Northrop built the first twin engine flying that flew in 1929 and it was 16 years ahead of Hortens who used slave labor to build COPY of the Northrop Flying Wing. All I want you to do is admit to the truth Northrops 1929 Twin Engine Flying Wing was 1ST + flew in 1929 was 16 years ahead of Germany.
But one still amazes me. this is an American film .. and when German agents had stolen it all, that would be above 100%. But even northtrop's workers express themselves respectfully and mention concessions. after all, the aircraft over 70 years old and under severe conditions have been constructed. whether there were nazis now, or not ... it was a technological masterpiece! military jets were indeed produced from 1944 in Germay already in series.
@LottoWinner999 somehow You seem to be fascinated by the Germans :) We are a sovereign state and can build nuclear weapons if we wanted to. But that makes no sense. With the use of nuclear weapons, there would be no winner. You're right, what the concerns air superiority and tanks.
@ad220588 Hey your a Dufus and your Treat with USA, Russia, France forbids you from possessing Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapon. If Germany rearmed with Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons you would be dead in a short time. The USA abd Russians would Nuke your Krauts Asses. Its time you realize that your war crimes will never allow Germany to possess Nuclear weapons period,!!
@LottoWinner999 The German Type 212 class, is a highly advanced design of non-nuclear submarine features an additional air-independent propulsion system using Siemens proton exchange membrane hydrogen fuel cells. The submarine can operate at high speed or switch to the AIP system for silent slow cruising, staying submerged for up to three weeks without surfacing and with no exhaust heat. The system is also said to be vibration-free, extremely quiet and virtually undetectable.
@ad220588 Latest USN Nuclear Hunter Killer submarine can do all that and more plus it can stay submerged indefinitely. In addition the USN has been mapping and place listening devices on all the ocean floor. Its been rumored the USN has three totally self-sustaining nuclear secret underwater grottoes for submarine basses. Try matching that and the fact the US Navy has mapped every square inch of the ocean floors since 1975.
Incidentally, if you should have noticed, this movie has been filmed with Northrop and one American television channel in history. If you call that a Nazi shit, you make yourself credible.
@MarabuFx Your a fucking Nazi Asshole, U ignore evidence that Northrops 1929 Twin Engine Flying Wing was first + 16 years ahead of Germanys Hooter Bruders who copied his wing. U Germans can't compare to USA aviation + the ME-262 was a dog + its could only fly for 10 minutes before needing engine replacement. You should look at WW2 American advanced aviation we were ahead of U. U Krauts + your lucky U Unconditionally Surrenders cuz we were ready to nuke Germany. Accept USA is first in stealth!
@MarabuFx Those don't know what there talking about and there Nazi Plants. U fucking Nazi Germans try to steal every thing. U know what sells on TV? Nazism and the way they murdered people. German technology was behind because they used horses to pull their artillery! U fucking Germans jokes and can't even build an airliner with out three partners. If they used Northrops flying wing I'll bet it would have the best Stealth Technology! Please wake up and recognize Germany is a has been Nazis!
@MarabuFx Try watching these Northrop Flying Wing YB-49 Test Flight at Hawthorne Airport 1947 Newsreel, Flying Wing YB-35 and XB-49, Restored 1940s Northrop Flying Wing + Flying Wing Northrop N1M & N1M-2.If U Google, "Northrop 1929 Twin Engine Flying" U will see the Northrop 1929 Twin Engine Flying that flew 16 years ahead of Germany while the Horton's were using Balsa Wood gliders. Accept it Northrop invented the flying wing 16 years ahead of Germany, boy that must break your little Nazi heart!
@MarabuFx The US Navy Virginia Class new attack submarine is an advanced stealth multimission submarine. U Krauts have nothing to catch and are to noisy and the fact you cannot stay submerged for 6 months at one time and travel 70 knots underwater. Germany is nation of losers and please don't wave your flag that its better. The USA destroyed Germany and every wonder weapon Germany had was a total failure. Bring me some proof!
@debzeppeliniv Chuck Yeager was the best of the best and no one could come close to aviation ability! You misinterpreted my comment making fun of Nazi Retards!
@LottoWinner999 Best US fighter Pilot in WW2 was Richard Bong with 40 Victories
Thomas McGuire with 38 Victoriess and 3. David McCampbell with 34 air victories. Best German Fighter Pilot was Erich Hartmann with 352 victories, Gerhard Barkhorn with 301 victories and Gunter Rall with 275 air victories. However The name "Yeager" (/ˈjeɪɡər/) is an Anglicized form of the German name Jäger or Jaege(German: "hunter"), and so is common among immigrants of that community
@ad220588 Fuck you and your Nazi and Chuck Yeager wan not German and if ordered to drop a nuke on Gemany he would have done so. All your Nazi shit and Thrid Reich Has been like you are out of step with history with Germany being the biggest loser in the Military History of the world. How does feel to be German and the biggest loser in modern military history of the world. Germany+L0SERS. LOL. LMAOAY German losers! Aww the poor vittle Nazi mis the good old days? Tsk, Tsk,Tsk I feel sorry for you!
@LottoWinner999 so why du you think the german are still nazis? The Usa are the MOST hated country on earth! And you know it took the whole world to bring us down. Thats not so bad ;)
@fitspire First fighter/bomber to be stealthed by Default was the R A F Mosquito, for same reasons this Horten that could not fly was considered min radar return, the Mosquito was so fast it did not need guns,
yet could carry a Bomb load equal to the B14, so all this crap from this clip about 1 aircraft is,, Bull shit, the Mossie came into service 1941
@keirfree Repeating false facts doesn't make them right. I already told you (and I assume you know very well): this prototype DID fly. There were 4 test flights, the last (45min) endet due to turbojet failure and crashed with the pilot killed. Stop coming with that "could not fly" stuff, that's ridiculous. It flew at top speed 1000kph -the mosquito did 668 kph.
it had no Hydraulic controls it had no radios other than HF it had a flight duration of a Duck, whats more, it had NO fuel to make it an effective flying platform
Ducks fly as do Bees it does not make them Stealth, Warplanes now please go else where,
@keirfree So then -stop claiming it didn't fly.Next thing is:It HAD hydraulic controls. The turbojet failure led to the hydraulic system to fail, what finally caused the crash of the fourth test flight. And yet -no one contradicted the 229 to be something else than a Prototype. The flight duration was 1900km (e.g. Mosquito 2930km).A few less -right, but enought for the projected operations. No fuel available isn't the plane's fault. You blatantly continue to mix up facts every time.
@keirfree So -for someone who mixes up facts so dramatic -it's no surprise you need all thos childish insults. You are one of the few guys who isn't able to have an isolated and objective view on the matter. No one really interested in aeronautics in general is interested in lessening of technological achievements of any nation. So there's no reason for your "it didn't fly","it had no hydraulic controls","I know better than Northrop -bla" -lies. Funny how some freaks don't ralize the war is over.
@keirfree Well... maybe it's time for you to fight your lies and ignorance. YOU were the guy being wrong with "it didn't fly" , "it had no hydraulic controls", "it wasn't stealthy", "I know better than Northrop" etc -bullshit. YOU agreed, radar wasn't conceived. YOU PROVED to be wrong at so many easy points. This PROVES you to know not a single bit of this particular plane. There's obviously NOTHING in this world you could teach anyone about aeronautics. Neither technologically nor historically
@fitspire this aircraft flew like a lead balloon, it lacked thrust and the control surfaces to alter its flight characteristic Thats why it Crashed, and killed its Pilot. Fuckwit go read get educated.
What a lot of USA Hot Air ? how can you build, a anti radadr system when you do not understand the dynamics of your Foes Radar Parameters.
What hog wash about this being a weapon that could have changed the outcome of WW2 it was discovered in April 1945, it could not fly, Simple, unlike the Me262
this mainplane design needed a Jet engine more powerful than anything the Germans had. also there was No Flight control systems to handle this platform.
@keirfree Nazi Germany's fighters were a lot more sophisticated and technologically advanced than ours, look at the me262 and me163. if they can build that, why not a stealth fighter?
@yourmomwasherelol Sorry but the Science/facts do not bare your staement out ! First Turbo Jet Engine was patented in the UKby F Whittle 6 years before a Nazi Jet flew, why it was not developed into a operational Fighter, was the fuel required ie Avtur was not in plentiful supply, also there was no flight controls good enough to handle this Thrust or speed the Me 262 was shot down by the P51 aka Mustang it could only attack large bombers from the side with rockets as it could not bring Cont
@keirfree Say what? You probably don´t know this, but the Me-262 shot down several P-51´s and Spitfires with almost no losses in their side, the problem was learning to addapt to its higher speed, but once the Me-262 pilots did, P-51´s and Spitfires were no match.
@2129261184 You probabley don,t know the Spitfire could not Fight over Germany therefore could not be shot down over Germany
. The Me 262 did fire on an unsuspecting P51 that could fly over Germany, However the Me262 was not agile enough to be able to fire cannon under control, therefore as a Fighter it could only fire rockets , at slow moving Bombers,on a Lateral Attack (ie from the side ) for every, 10 hrs of Flight the Me 262 Engine had to be Scrapped, and unlike the RAF? USA it had no VHF
@keirfree Franz Schall, 12 enemy fighters shot down in the Me 262, 10 of them P-51 Mustangs. Georg-Peter Eder, 12 enemy fighters, 9 of them P-51s. Walther Dahl with 11, 3 La-7s and 6 P-51s. Heinz-Helmut Baudach with 6, 1 Spitfire and 2 P-51s) amongst some others.
The Me-262 COULD fire under control, it just took the pilots some time at the begginig to learn how to control it. Also, it could retain energy on a turn better than a piston engine aircraft. You should read Stormbird by H.Buchner
@yourmomwasherelol Guns to bare on targets very well,, no, tight manouverability so this Nazi fighter could be out gunned out manouvered by conventional I/c engines mainly the Merlin then later the Griffon also every 10 hours the Me 262 needed a new Engine and the Nazis did not have the fuel for this aircraft, Nazi Science was mainly Bullshit, used by the Brits for scaring the shit out of America, so it would, react.Remember your first Jets were Given to you by the Brits, the engine Cont
@yourmomwasherelol we gave you the Rolls Royce Sapphire jet engine a variation of F Whittles original, we also gave you the Canberra Bomber also a Jet but you renamed it, what most Americans do not know, is the original spy missions over Russia post ww2 was done by Canberras then U2 s but flown by the RAF out of the 18 U2 missions
16 were Brit Pilots, also to have stealth you can either build it out of wood the Brits built the fastest ever fighter/bomber from plywood Mosquito
@keirfree False. For the principle of stealth-technology against ww II radar systems you don't need to know the detailled facts. Today it's common knowledge that stealth design is based on a particular body geometry and radar absorbing paint. And as a company like northrop grumman tests a replica on ww II radar conditions you should assume, 1. they know what they're testing and have good reasons for it and 2. The Horten 229 obvious had intended stealth capabilities
The Nazis did not have or understand 10 cm radar or better, and if you do not know or understand or have this technology, you cannot engineer, against, its technical parameters, Even better the Nazis had not enough resources to maintain a Jet bomber /fighter air force, there fore to persue a science you do not have the raw resources for, is a Total waste of time, as was proven, consequently
They had not learned from their Afrika Korps, No fuel No win
@keirfree The next thing you're wrong about is:when it was discovered by the allies doesn't matter for the question when/if it could have taken impact on the war. All this is purely speculative. At least the infrastructure and production capabilities were destroyed so the prototypes remained prototypes. Therefore the project failed. This has nothing to do with the question,if a plane like this being built in greater numbers could have had impact on the war due to its proven stealth capabilities.
Holy arguments ... That plane was genius and somehow very beautiful

DingyHarry59 1 month ago 2
@DingyHarry59 You're probably right. But as crazy as Hitler was, he should have been smart enough not to go to war with Russia. At least not until Europe had completely fallen and the United States was clearly losing the Pacific war. The US was the quarterback in WWII. The only way Germany was going to win WWII, really win it, could only happen with the destruction of America. Germany should have told Russia anything, given them anything to placate them until that was accomplished.
sunnchilde 1 month ago
This is so scary. What it seems like is that what Nazi Germany needed was just a little more time and they could have won the war. If they would have had another two years, who knows what would have happened? A stealth bomber with an atomic payload over London and New York? Really scary!
sunnchilde 1 month ago
@sunnchilde That is probably true. But Hitler should have started his massive rebuilding of his army 1 year earlier + should have invaded britain before invading the sovjet union. This would have removed an allied staging place for an invasion and avoided all the strategic bombing the allies made. Hitler had too many fronts. Afterall he only had 1 country.
KageStodder 1 month ago

DingyHarry59 2 months ago
@DingyHarry59 there is no way of saying that it didnt inspire post war designs because that is classified information. you should know that the guy who lead the design of the Saturn V rocket was a nazi and designed the first missiles.
gamingforthefun 2 months ago
@gamingforthefun Hi GFTF.
DingyHarry59 2 months ago
now why would THIS still be under high security lock and key at a "secret" govt warehouse? technology and such that is over 60 years old.. that doesn't pose a threat to ANYONE right now should have been restored and put on display for all to see it in a musuem.

I remember a documentary that said the Horton wing would not actually fly because it was too unstable. It took the development of computers to make flying wings a reality. The B-2 bomber has a bunch of computers that make subtle adjustments. Without those computers, the B-2 would fall out of the sky.

But on military side, you're thieves.
OnlyLifeMatters 8 months ago
OnlyLifeMatters, besides being abrasive, where are you getting your misinformation?
I remember a documentary that talked about the development of American jet engines in 1943! There were female pilots doing test flights in Texas.
Orville and Wilbur invented the airplane; they were from Ohio.
The Soviets copied their first big bomber from a downed American B-52, if memory serves.
AppleSouffle 8 months ago
@AppleSouffle Interesting addition to my obviously lacking knowledge. You can have my sincere apologies, if you want 'em.

@timsfun11 I am home. Yes, you won WW2 alongside the British Empire, Australia, Canada, Soviet Union (well, Russia's "victory" is fundamental in WW2, not real), China and bunch of other countries. That's all. And flying low...
tronic2110 11 months ago
@tronic2110 Well, the only funny part here is some hobby-moron /wannabe scientists who claim to know better than those Northrop experts. The facs is,besides the improvement of stealth capabilities putting the turbojets inside the body has only extreme disadvantages. It extremely increases the stress on the bodywork (e.g. one reason for the many 'comet' crashes). The test results are very clear:The design of this plane has tested and proven stealth capabilities and this definitely was intended.
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire Fuck me you type even more Crap, the failure of the Comet had nothing to do with where the engines were placed,
Comets failure was due to not,,, understanding then the nature of metal fatigue, in aluminium alloys,
due to the rigidity of the airframe losing flexibility, by the use of rivets along its length, to accomodate plexiglass windows, thus accruing stress points
Your so full of Shit its pointless discussing engineerig,, any further
Vorsprung durch Bullshit !
keirfree 11 months ago
@keirfree That's the point. And as I said: it was 'one' reason. The stress on the body would have been much lower if they had used engine nacelles. Well, the comet was/is imho one of the best looking planes in history -but unlike the 229 it wasn't necessary not to put them in engine nacelles for technological reasons -like on almost all commercial airliners until now. As a matter of fact, it's much more difficult to put the turbojets into the body/wing than not to.

i am very sorry about this .... but the Horten brothers started designing these aircraft before radar was even conceived . Their nuke program was not even close to the right track.
tasman763 1 year ago
@tasman763 I'm also sorry...you're very wrong at this. This aircraft's first flight was 1944. The british radar was built in 1937 and operational at early 1939. The german radar systems were operational at late 1939. And trans atlantic flight has never been the goal of this aircraft, as it was not part of the later "Amerika Bomber" projects of the Hortens or Saenger. It was at best a precursor for those projects. I suggest you try to inform yourself correctly before posting such false "facts"
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire the first Horten tailless design, inspired by Lippisch , flew in 1933 . NOWHERE in the available literature is the concept of " stealth " mentioned ( and I have been reading of the Horten Bros since the 70's )
The idea that the Ho229 might be " stealthy " has been generated in the last few years. A quick look at the blueprints shows that it would NOT have been stealthy ! I suggest you try the same advice you gave me !
tasman763 11 months ago
@tasman763 Well,Northrop Grumman specialists proved the stealth capabilities of the 229 -therefore they already proved you wrong. And to say, "A quick look" could clarify this question -why should they have tested it?A quick look tells you nothing about the true capabilities -therefore the testing was done. With positive Results. Now tell me EXACTLY who in this world says the Northrop Grumman guys are wrong! And what qualifies this person more than them to judge about this question?
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire Northrop Grumman " proved " NOTHING ! A bunch of modellers made a replica shape, and used Grummans facility . The results " proved " ziich ! ! ! . A quick look at blueprints is all that is necessary IF you understand radar return.....which you ( and the modellers ) obviously do NOT . What " qualifies " me ??? I have been flying since before you were born . And I know what a fact is . And you appear not to . The Horten was designed for low drag, not stealth.
tasman763 11 months ago
@tasman763 Holy shit... so YOU are the "expert" we shall believe who 1.knows better than Northrop and 2.knows about radar/stealth technology? YOU -who claimed, in 1944 radar wasn't even conceived? !!!-LOL-!!! You -who already proved to know 1.nothing about radar / radar history and 2.nothing about stealth technology. That's a fact, you've be as wrong as possible. And now you really think, someone would assume YOU as an expert of radar/stealth/aeronautics?Congratulations, you scored an own goal.
fitspire 11 months ago
@tasman763 Oh, I forgot.Northrop employees were in the construction of the replica. As well as the radar testing on the full-scale model was done on an original test facility for stealth tech -done by the professionals of the facility.Don't mix up that facts -by the way that's all in the vid. -So the end of the story is: I certainly don't give a fuck of what a quick view on whatever tells a wannabe about a planes stealth capabilities, who didn't even know there was radar technology used in WW II.
fitspire 11 months ago
@tasman763 I agree with you whole heartedly! and your, and my assertation that Stealth ie to minimise a radar return, was a technology yet to be conceived, even by the makers of 10 Cm Radar the Brits and the USA after ww2 Windows was the best anti radar, tech even into the 1950s,

@keirfree Wait -you agree with tasman763, that radar technology itself wasnt even conceived when the 229 was designed in the '40s? Because this -exactly- was his point: Stealth tech was impossible to be designed, because radar wasn't conceived. And this is definitely wrong -like most of his theories.
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire What bit of RADAR technology do Not understand
I mention 10cm RADAR RADAR that could produce a resolution, good enough, to allow Target profiling, this was not invented until 1941 + in the UK then given to the USA for Development for in flight operations
Now be a good Fuckwit instead of mouthing of about Technology you do not understand, go & learn about
Lambda= F devided by C
where F is the carrier Fqy,, Lambda = antenna length ,, C speed of light
10 cm= wavelength needsa cavitron
keirfree 11 months ago

I zigged when I should have zagged. You know though they teach kids "revisionist" history. All the ww2 vets are dying, so there will be no more eye witnesses. We can't let that happen!
debzeppeliniv 3 months ago
LottoWinner999 3 months ago
@LottoWinner999
That's nonsense what you write. If Americans really the inventor of the stealth technology .... then I would wonder why Germany is today the most advanced stealth technology. See, most modern German submarines, which have in the world the best stealth characteristics. ;-)
MarabuFx 3 months ago

MarabuFx 3 months ago
@MarabuFx The tank is outdated weapon and only works if you have air superiority. Its obvious Germany did not have air superiority and by the way Germany will never be allowed to have nukes. The US Navy Virginia Class new attack submarine is an advanced stealth multimission submarine that can destroy any German submarine.
LottoWinner999 3 months ago
@LottoWinner999
It's all right. American technology is always the better. And German technology is crap. And anyway, we Germans are only losers .. and the Americans are always the good winner. Will be true, as you write. Well, now let's be friends. OK? ;-)
MarabuFx 3 months ago
LottoWinner999 3 months ago
@LottoWinner999

LottoWinner999 3 months ago
@LottoWinner999
MarabuFx 3 months ago
@LottoWinner999 somehow You seem to be fascinated by the Germans :) We are a sovereign state and can build nuclear weapons if we wanted to. But that makes no sense. With the use of nuclear weapons, there would be no winner. You're right, what the concerns air superiority and tanks.

LottoWinner999 2 months ago
@LottoWinner999 The German Type 212 class, is a highly advanced design of non-nuclear submarine features an additional air-independent propulsion system using Siemens proton exchange membrane hydrogen fuel cells. The submarine can operate at high speed or switch to the AIP system for silent slow cruising, staying submerged for up to three weeks without surfacing and with no exhaust heat. The system is also said to be vibration-free, extremely quiet and virtually undetectable.
ad220588 2 months ago
@ad220588 Latest USN Nuclear Hunter Killer submarine can do all that and more plus it can stay submerged indefinitely. In addition the USN has been mapping and place listening devices on all the ocean floor. Its been rumored the USN has three totally self-sustaining nuclear secret underwater grottoes for submarine basses. Try matching that and the fact the US Navy has mapped every square inch of the ocean floors since 1975.

@fitspire First fighter/bomber to be stealthed by Default was the R A F Mosquito, for same reasons this Horten that could not fly was considered min radar return, the Mosquito was so fast it did not need guns,
yet could carry a Bomb load equal to the B14, so all this crap from this clip about 1 aircraft is,, Bull shit, the Mossie came into service 1941
keirfree 11 months ago
@keirfree Repeating false facts doesn't make them right. I already told you (and I assume you know very well): this prototype DID fly. There were 4 test flights, the last (45min) endet due to turbojet failure and crashed with the pilot killed. Stop coming with that "could not fly" stuff, that's ridiculous. It flew at top speed 1000kph -the mosquito did 668 kph.
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire
It crashed ! it killed its pilot,
it had no Hydraulic controls it had no radios other than HF it had a flight duration of a Duck, whats more, it had NO fuel to make it an effective flying platform
Ducks fly as do Bees it does not make them Stealth, Warplanes now please go else where,
You have not a Scooby !!
keirfree 11 months ago
@keirfree So then -stop claiming it didn't fly.Next thing is:It HAD hydraulic controls. The turbojet failure led to the hydraulic system to fail, what finally caused the crash of the fourth test flight. And yet -no one contradicted the 229 to be something else than a Prototype. The flight duration was 1900km (e.g. Mosquito 2930km).A few less -right, but enought for the projected operations. No fuel available isn't the plane's fault. You blatantly continue to mix up facts every time.
fitspire 11 months ago
@keirfree So -for someone who mixes up facts so dramatic -it's no surprise you need all thos childish insults. You are one of the few guys who isn't able to have an isolated and objective view on the matter. No one really interested in aeronautics in general is interested in lessening of technological achievements of any nation. So there's no reason for your "it didn't fly","it had no hydraulic controls","I know better than Northrop -bla" -lies. Funny how some freaks don't ralize the war is over.

Childrens stories

@keirfree Nazi Germany's fighters were a lot more sophisticated and technologically advanced than ours, look at the me262 and me163. if they can build that, why not a stealth fighter?
yourmomwasherelol 1 year ago
@yourmomwasherelol Sorry but the Science/facts do not bare your staement out ! First Turbo Jet Engine was patented in the UKby F Whittle 6 years before a Nazi Jet flew, why it was not developed into a operational Fighter, was the fuel required ie Avtur was not in plentiful supply, also there was no flight controls good enough to handle this Thrust or speed the Me 262 was shot down by the P51 aka Mustang it could only attack large bombers from the side with rockets as it could not bring Cont
keirfree 1 year ago
@keirfree Say what? You probably don´t know this, but the Me-262 shot down several P-51´s and Spitfires with almost no losses in their side, the problem was learning to addapt to its higher speed, but once the Me-262 pilots did, P-51´s and Spitfires were no match.
2129261184 10 months ago
@2129261184 You probabley don,t know the Spitfire could not Fight over Germany therefore could not be shot down over Germany
. The Me 262 did fire on an unsuspecting P51 that could fly over Germany, However the Me262 was not agile enough to be able to fire cannon under control, therefore as a Fighter it could only fire rockets , at slow moving Bombers,on a Lateral Attack (ie from the side ) for every, 10 hrs of Flight the Me 262 Engine had to be Scrapped, and unlike the RAF? USA it had no VHF
keirfree 10 months ago
@keirfree Franz Schall, 12 enemy fighters shot down in the Me 262, 10 of them P-51 Mustangs. Georg-Peter Eder, 12 enemy fighters, 9 of them P-51s. Walther Dahl with 11, 3 La-7s and 6 P-51s. Heinz-Helmut Baudach with 6, 1 Spitfire and 2 P-51s) amongst some others.
The Me-262 COULD fire under control, it just took the pilots some time at the begginig to learn how to control it. Also, it could retain energy on a turn better than a piston engine aircraft. You should read Stormbird by H.Buchner
2129261184 10 months ago
@yourmomwasherelol Guns to bare on targets very well,, no, tight manouverability so this Nazi fighter could be out gunned out manouvered by conventional I/c engines mainly the Merlin then later the Griffon also every 10 hours the Me 262 needed a new Engine and the Nazis did not have the fuel for this aircraft, Nazi Science was mainly Bullshit, used by the Brits for scaring the shit out of America, so it would, react.Remember your first Jets were Given to you by the Brits, the engine Cont
keirfree 1 year ago
@yourmomwasherelol we gave you the Rolls Royce Sapphire jet engine a variation of F Whittles original, we also gave you the Canberra Bomber also a Jet but you renamed it, what most Americans do not know, is the original spy missions over Russia post ww2 was done by Canberras then U2 s but flown by the RAF out of the 18 U2 missions
16 were Brit Pilots, also to have stealth you can either build it out of wood the Brits built the fastest ever fighter/bomber from plywood Mosquito
or wait 50 years
keirfree 1 year ago
@keirfree False. For the principle of stealth-technology against ww II radar systems you don't need to know the detailled facts. Today it's common knowledge that stealth design is based on a particular body geometry and radar absorbing paint. And as a company like northrop grumman tests a replica on ww II radar conditions you should assume, 1. they know what they're testing and have good reasons for it and 2. The Horten 229 obvious had intended stealth capabilities
fitspire 11 months ago
@fitspire what bit do you not understand ?
The Nazis did not have or understand 10 cm radar or better, and if you do not know or understand or have this technology, you cannot engineer, against, its technical parameters, Even better the Nazis had not enough resources to maintain a Jet bomber /fighter air force, there fore to persue a science you do not have the raw resources for, is a Total waste of time, as was proven, consequently
They had not learned from their Afrika Korps, No fuel No win
keirfree 11 months ago
@keirfree The next thing you're wrong about is:when it was discovered by the allies doesn't matter for the question when/if it could have taken impact on the war. All this is purely speculative. At least the infrastructure and production capabilities were destroyed so the prototypes remained prototypes. Therefore the project failed. This has nothing to do with the question,if a plane like this being built in greater numbers could have had impact on the war due to its proven stealth capabilities.
