I lived next to the San Francisco Peaks in AZ (2:55) for about six years. Those were the best years of my life (apart from having children). These mountains are truly Sacred.
If ever there were a persona called Kokopelli...Carlos Nakai, in my opinion, embodies the Spirit of Kokopelli. He is a fantastic & deep musician. He is a joy to wake up to & a blessing to which I lie my head upon my pillow & am lulled to sleep at night...Very Profound in his interpretations of Spirit & Music. Thank You for sharing this gift of Beauty with Us! You did an awesome job! ~*Walk Softly in Beauty Eternally*~ @;}~
Excellent - thank, thank you. Awesome video and commentary.
I am blessed to have R.C. be my flute teacher and to have had the honor of playing NAF with him on stage at the National Geographic international event entitled, "Water Is Life." Just for the record - the word "flautist" is a French word - "flutist" is more accurate and fitting for its Navajo, grass roots application.
Heck I thought it would be youtube loaded: songs like enemyway or 12 early morning songs. Heck they song everything, sacred my ass. Carlos R Nakai will sell a snake oil to the white people these days. Fricken Flakes couldn't even endure a ceremony & needless to say even know all the lyrics. Save your money: RUN, and away from a motivational speaker offering a sweat lodge for 10 grand a BAKE.
Stunning and beautiful video. I love Carlos Nakai and saw him perform. I also lived on the Navajo Reservation for a while. Thanks for sharing this video. It made me feel so good.
one person clearly missed the like button and then fell into a deep state of meditation to the point where his thoughts were above things such as like buttons and so never wasted his time correcting his mistake.
His music is awesome... but isn't it interesting that the Ancient Ones (Pueblo) were there 2000 years before Apacheans like Navajo? Not to mention Clovis or Folsom some 10,000 years before. Thousands of years- wow!
How lucky you are ! this is the most beautiful region in the world ! i love it so much and I love to come here to take a break and to get fresh ideas to me in the heart of the Natives ' earth
Seriously though, I love music like this: Native American music, New Age music, etc. Music that relaxes you and lets you drift away to beautiful places.
I am not native, but I am in love with the music!<3 and I have been starting to take up dream catcher making but this music is soo beautiful and relaxing, and helps give you positive and clear thoughts..
I also have had an opportunity to study the Navajo language, from a friend whose grandmother still lives on the nation. It has proven to be exciting, especially when I was able to attend a gathering they hosted in town. Native American Music and Religions have always struck me as more in unison with their cultures and surroundings, than Christianity.
When I was a little kid living in Milwaukee WI, I had the opportunity to attend some of the pow wow events they had at the state fair grounds, which I have always enjoyed. When I was about 10 or 11, I had the opportunity to attend a Potawatomi funeral, for a Tribal elders husband. It was an experience that I shall never forget, it left me with a deeper inquisitiveness, to study Native American cultures more.
Very very nice and thanks so much for the informative lesson written about the four mountains and Blessingway and Changing Woman. I had lived in New Mexico among the Navajo when a wee tot and remember some but forgot alot. Thanks again! Beautiful music as always!
A lovely vid that works on many levels. Beautiful photos, haunting music and a fascinating insight into the Navajo perspective on their connection to specific places.
Humpaway dear friend ..you have such a talent to bring pictures and music together to help me connect to the power of these beautiful places and its people or keepers the Navajothrough this I see an honoringthank you for creating this and the information you have shared in the INFO section.I loved it!!

Mt. MONTSERRAT "HUMAN FACE" IMAGE (in NASA PHOTOSATELLITE)
In the "Landsat" NASA photosatellite of Mt. Montserrat's human face,
the conjunction of the most high peaks (10 x 5 km.) look like a image
with severe expression, as never seen before. A big sanctuary in photo
appears in different colour like a "3th EYE" in this huge face:

Where can I buy Nakai's CDs? I can't seem to find them anywhere. I hate Ebay and Amazon because they tend to overcharge for their CDs.
