I have to say that double punch with the leg block looks absolutely awesome. i had to watch it 10 times over and over again to notice how you transitioned into with the cue sao like block... I'm a hung gar practitioner and I'm wondering if this style would be compatible, as this is something I've always wanted to learn since childhood
When I was training in Taiwan I met a hung gar master from wonf fei hongs line who knew drunken kung fu. Different lineage from mine, I am northern he was southern but it blended seamlessly with his hung gar. I think they are a great combination. Try out learning in the distance course and trying it out, see what you think.
That's awesome... what I heard was that the 8 immortals drunken forms are a part of choy li fut and which is a southern lineage which is a "cousin" system of hung gar so I can imagine that they would go togher... also in the tiger crane form there is a short sequence they call the "drunken stances" have you ever taken a look at them? Anyway I was trying to the 3 cannon fists and it feels really good lol... On the other had I've also studied the inner alchemy practices
@passingcloud01 I'm a Hung Gar practicioner and i can say there's a set named Drunken fist, which comes after crane boxing and the set is composed by this techniques: Eight drunken Gods, Old man comes out of the cave, Single finger asks a question, First star punching method, Second star punching method, Two blows follow each other downward, Immediately striking upward, Fist like an arrow. It's a short form and uses the same priciples that this Shifu is explaining.
of Master Mantak Chia and it's amazing how especially the iron shirt and changing the tendons practices goes so well with it. My Hung Gar instructor is a student of GM Lam Chun Fai and personally though I don't believe in learning from books and videos, I think having an instructor is irreplaceable... and I would love to train under you someday if I ever get the chance, for now I'll just drill the 3 cannon fists as much as I can and see what I can get out of it
@Susanoo58 thanks, thats exactly my idea with these vids. If people are thinking about coming to learn drunken from me then I feel I should show them a bit about the style and my teaching method. Its hard to decipher a style from just a forms performance.
The 8 immortals are present in our style of drunken and each represent a different archetype and mindset with which we do the various techniques. Thus the fighter then changes methods according to which immortal he/she is representing. I will upload more about the immortals as I film more and more. Enjoy
How about the goddess that is the only style I don't get. Can u give me tips what should I do?

PsychoticWardClowns 1 year ago
This is fantastic quality. It's kinda silly to think such jewels exist in the public domain and so many people just dont see it.
