  • Is my baby turtle...the height of the water level in the tank is half the height of my turtle...is it ok? or must i add more water, but if i do that, the turtle would have to stretch its head upwards to breath

  • i have a question i have a 40 gallon breeder and i have one res turtle and for filters i have a reptifilter that is for 57 gallon tanks and a fluval 1plus wich is for 12 gallon tanks i use both and also i use turtle clean, i also do lots of cleaning but my water is never clean i can never see to the other side of the tank

  • i want a turtle! but first i need to sell my piranhas i think, but check my tank on my video and tell me how much gravel i need to buy, if i need a dock,if so where, any fake plants, more stones,or any information plz tell me i rly want a turtle! i have a fluval 206 filter that was expensive so i think i can keep the tank clean, plz tell me what turtle i can have, and look at my tank on my channel so it will be easyer for u to give me info, plz reply quick wanna sell my piranhas.

  • @TheFishKeeper100 - Theres no limit to how much gravel to have but avoid the regular pea-sized gravel as turtles might swallow it. Something bigger like river pebbles (that what I have) will be fine. Sand looks nice but is very hard to clean. Other than that you will need a basking area out of the water (you can use rocks etc or buy a self made floating turtle dock) & keep this area warm & also provide UVB rays with the right bulb or bulbs. Thats pretty much it. The rest is imagination & time.

  • @kezzer30 how?

  • i cant keep fishes because everytime i put it will eat it

  • @madturtlefan You probably have a younger turtle. Red eared sliders are more carnivorous as babies. Adult RES's will less likely attempt to go for a fish in the tank. It will have a more vegetarian diet older then when it was young. Hope this helps you now or in the future.

  • my res are probably 3 inches? and I added a 5 inch koi inside and my res started nibbling on their fins and tails! haha

  • Nah, no thank you. : )

  • Thumbs down to you too, mate. o.o

Jeez. Everything I said was utterly correct.

Dude. I've KEPT RES's for like, 7 years. I know what I'm talking about. I know plenty.

    More infact than you do.

  • LOL! XD

DX OH NOOOOO, I HAVE NO FRIENDS!

Just two red eared sliders I know LOADS about! OH NOES!!! XD -Is utterly defeated in debatory terms-

  • nice tank dude

  • algae eating fish like plecos are great with turtles especially the small algae eaters because they help keep the turtles shell algae free. Cory catfish are great with turtles as well

  • beautiful acquarium!!!!

  • i am thinking about getting a turtle to put in my fish tank....

do you have problems with your turtles eating your fish??

what kind of fish do you have????

what kind of turtle do u have???

  • Hey.

All turtles are liable to eat your fish. Depending from species to species, even the smallest turtle might take a chunk out of the fins or skin of some of your even largest fish. Mixing them isn't a good idea unless you intend to use the fish (like tetra's or goldfish) as live food items.

Also, two red-eared sliders (or RES's) especially two males, can often turn very very violent against eachother and will need to be seperated. They also grow to like, a foot long.

  • get a musk turtle or map turtle make sure you always get MALE turtles. The females generally get bigger. If the turtles grow up with the fish they tend to make them their friends and become accustomed to eating commercial food

  • you should put a musk turtle or map turtle,it usualy wont eat ur fishes

  • If the turtles are hungry enough, yes they will.

  • just noticed no biggy but its cal naughton but still fresh names :D

  • i love turtles u rock man what kind of turtle is that

  • Do you have a link to the tank with only live plants?

  • Are those live plants in the tank

  • In this older tank I had some live and some artificial plants. Their new tank is all live plants.

  • fantastic setup

  • do the fish help the water stay clean? and how often do u have to change the water and hand clean it?

  • The fish don't really add to the cleanliness but having both turtles and fish together in the tank seems to have some advantages for each. I replace the filters as recommended for the brand i have, then also replace about 30% of the water every couple of weeks.

  • i like your turtle tank im thinkin about getting tropical fish in my turtle tank .

but i cant show you my updated tank because i cant find the wire to connect my camera to the computer

  • bad idea putting fish in turtle tank unless the fish can swim fast!

  • its a good idea to have live fish in your turtle tank if a turtle eats 1 it iz great for the turtle

  • I originally got the fish as feeders for the turtles, but they just get along and the turtles leave the fish alone. There is an occasional nipped fin, but no serious damage. Actually I have to be sure the turtles are getting enough food, the fish grab everything put in the tank.

  • Wow will you have to upgrade or will the turtle bve in that tank all its life. Great turtle!!

  • I already have updated since this video. Everyone is now at least twice as large and in a 40 gallon tank. I think I may need to upgrade at least once more before they are full grown.

  • @davidryonjennings what is skimmer guppy?

  • @IKillCowsWithMusic I haven't been back to this video in a while, it's great to see it's so popular!

As a follow-up.. we built a 500 gallon outdoor pond for these guys about a year ago. They LOVE it! Both are healthy and happy. The female "Rick Bobby" has even laid eggs several times (although none have hatched). Some of the fish made the transition to the outdoor pond, including all of the little river skimmers which now number in the hundreds!

  • David, great video
