thanks for sharing, i own a 91 imperial with the 3.3 and 196,000 miles, runs and shifts excellent. although the pin in the differential gave way so had to have a new diff and pin installed in the transmission, the rear air ride still works although the pump is loud. All in all the ride is superb!!!!!
These cars look somewhat good for their time but the quality was crap. The engine ( 90) was very reliable but the tranny was junk from the start. Shame Chrysler let their flagship model die a shameful death. This could have been a sweet car if they dressed it with more modern gizmos and at least allow for a more unique design instead of putting a hat and coat over a New Yorker.
Well, Chrysler did start putting more modern gizmos when they launched the Concorde in 1993. That was when they started competing with Lexus.
The only car like this one more recently was the last generation Lincoln Town Car (which I never got used to) now bit the dust in favor of the MKS, which looks bigger and better IMHO.
The Imperial, however, is better than one of those newer Town Cars.
@1962RS I appreciate your comment. Years ago, I had a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker. Like you say, the engine was very good, but I had nothing but trouble with the transmission. Sent it back to the shop 3 times and they could never get it to function right. It was such a headache I got rid of the car and bought an '88 Park Avenue. Didn't have as much digital gadgetry, as with the New Yorker, but the Park Ave never ever gave me a moment of trouble.
@general0ne USD too. I live in México, but the person that sells the car want USD instead mexican money. And it is in good condition too, but the instruments panel is analog, and it doesn't has the climatizer control, but has A/C.
@gimaj90 Not a bad price. What year is it? I'm pretty sure all the US Imperials had the digital instruments and climate control - not sure about in Mexico, though. Is it an Imperial, or is it a New Yorker or Dynasty? They're all the same general body style.
@general0ne It is '90 too (and imperial too), and is imported from the US (Belvidere, Ill; according with the serial number). I like your car-videos collection, its amazing; I didn't know the Dodge Polara!
@gimaj90 Okay. I wasn't aware that they didn't come with the digital stuff, unless it was a really early model. Or was it a Mexican model (originally sold by a dealer in Mexico)? Would be interesting to see a video of it if you end up getting it. Make sure you check out the floors in the front. These cars have a tendency to start to rust around where the parking brake cable goes through the floor (see my other videos of this car). Though that might not be a problem in your drier climate.
@general0ne Yeeeahh... I saw the video Update of the 1990 imperial... That freaky holes!! Ohh my... Anyway, I don't think that I make a deal with the seller, because the titles of the car are lost! : (
@gimaj90 Is the car registered in Mexico or the US? I know in my state, we can get a replacement title if it is lost. Don't know about other states or Mexico though I would think you would be able to. You should still see if you can get a video of it!
@general0ne Well... Maybe if the seller wants to go to get copies of titles... I hope so... But something is not right... I don't know why, but I suspect that this person did some illegal movement with this car... Of course I hope I'm wrong!
@general0ne Ooops... The car now has a huge problem with the transmission... It doesn't release the First Gear!! I didn't have a camcorder with me when I went to see the car again... Too bad!! :(
@gimaj90 Sure it's first gear? I bet it's stuck in "limp home" mode - the transmission computer locks it into second gear when it detects a fault so that you can at least drive the car home. Mine does this when it's REALLY cold, and restarting the car will clear it, and it works fine after that. If it's doing it ALL the time, than the transmission probably needs rebuilt, though it could be a sensor or wiring problem as well.
@somewhatlongdong I bought the car for the girl that I was dating at the time, and broke up with shortly after. I had other vehicles that I was driving, so I really had no use for this one, so it just sat at my parent's place.
@cromorne I think the sundance has almost 170K on it. not sure about the Imperial. The imperial is in good shape but there's some floor rot that I have to repair. It's been undercoated. The sundance wasn't undercoated, and there's hardly a spot of rust on it underneath. The imperial also has the original transmission....
@general0ne I know about the rust. I had a 1996 Dodge Dakota that was just rotting away. Floor boards, rockers, everywhere. Chrysler isn't known for rust resistance!

I always loved the Chrysler Imperial...as well as the 2 New Yorker variants below it.
I'm a sucker for 80s and 90s Mopars
Take good care of it as these Imperials are rare nowadays.

I would buy a car like that for around 500dls, but the person that was going to sell the car doesn´t found the titles. (Sorry for my bad english)

@gimaj90 500 in what currency? I paid $800 USD for this one, and it was in good condition.

Why would you keep a vehicle sitting for 3 or 4 years?

How many miles are on the imperial and the sundance? That Imperial is in excellent shape for being 20 years old.
