Wow, great looking video. Definitely too bad about the sound, but I know how that goes. Try using a decent portable recorder, like the Zoom H2n or H4n. The H4n is handy as it has built in mics and line ins (on separate tracks from the built in mics), buddy up to the sound guy and see if you can get a board feed and then you have a controllable mix that isn't too hard to sync to video later. This would be killer with the better sound.
