Yes, Better the Stones. Love the Animals - but let's all face it Beatles, Long Tall Sally bought the house down! Mick Jagger called them the four headed monster after that performance.
this music is testament to african american influence in music and dance... even though there are so many disrespectful haters out there... but thats ok truth and love will overcome prejudice and bias.
Yeah ---The Animals Rock--!!--I'm still trying to figure out how Alan Price played the Vox Continental so fast-and made it look easy---I have one like it A British made Connie----Damm thing has wooden keys--it's kind of Clanky---Now we need a Live version of "The House of The Rising Sun"before it became a hit-------Charlie
@etowmom-He's getting feedback from his Vox amp by laying the pick-ups of his guitar right up against the speakers. You can hear it screaming in the backround!
What a great song to kick off their performance. Great energy . . . they are having the time of their lives. Loved the Animals then and I love them now. Wonderful stuff! Thanks for posting.
alan is super good in the keyboards he is awsome too bad he was about to leave the band. this is a very good performance they all had very great energy!
check out Eric's last 2 studio Cd's -Soul of a Man--My Secret Life----He still has it-!!!!--No one can touch Alan's playing on the Vox Continental----Charlie
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" was one of the greatest songs of the sixties. Burdon was fantastic and could sing the blues better than Mick Jagger, but Jagger is the one who made it huge. There was a point where the Animals briefly overcame the Stones in popularity, but not for long. The Animals broke up and Burdon went on with War and on his own, but today very few people know Eric Burdon whereas most know who Jagger is.
This is not nigger music, it's just GOOD MUSIC. And yes Obama wouldn't be in the whitehouse if Eric Burdon had not sung BLACK (not nigger) music!!!! Burdon has a song called "White Houses"
The Keyboard looks like a VOX Continental (made in Italy). Some kind the doors used on "Light My Fire". Its an electronic organ. I do not think anybody had synths in 1965.

How is it that Eric Burdon is kinda dorky and frumpy and dorky at first and then when he starts singing he's totally hot?

funny How Eric Muffs the beginning of the tune.. but then.. phew.. What a voice!!
Amazing how these bands could just come on, no sound check, likely no vocal
monitors .. and sound this good.and Burdons' dancing! Wow... then the organ goes out at 3.06.. CRazy , pops!!!
