I wish they would have actually used this overture when the film was in theaters. As a kid, I remember certain films would have an overture like this playing as you took your seats to prepare you for the film you were about to watch. This overture is one of - if not my total - favorite pieces on the score and I never got to hear it in a theater!

To the people who think this shouldve won the oscar-the reason why it did not win was because it was not totally original nor was it entirely due to the credit of Daft Punk. They of course could not come out with something as great as this for the first film they were creating a score composition for. Hans Zimmer and other composers lended them help on the project. You can hear synthesizers similar to Zimmers works in there. The ending of it says "Daft Punk like to thank Hans Zimmer and others"

@ILOVEDONUTS100 Well, if they wanted to make a sequel then they shoulda made it like.. 2 years later. CLU looked so cheap, im not even kidding. They coulda done a lot better with the graphics of Flynn's/CLU's face. It did have a good plot, but TRON was just so much better. It had a better plot. In my interpretation it was about rebelling from the system and fighting for what you believe in and what you did when someone tries to take credit for it. It was saying "dont let em do that! Fight!"

The part where Tron/Rinzler fights is EXTREMELY disappointing. They couldn't take off Rinzler's mask because it wasn't the Young Tron. I dunno if that makes sense but.. Either way, disappointment.

@PRIORITY60 The two OSTs had completely different purposes. The OST to Tron I assume was put together with a big epic storyline and big popcorn VFX in mind - And it does this perfectly. It's a big ol' epic score. But the whole point to the OST for The Social Network was to create a dark ambience to go underneath the more low-key story of the film. The whole soundtrack for TSN gives the film a moody, strange undertone that adds something a score like this couldn't. Both are good, in my opinion.
