Denatured alcohol is the fuel for this one. Some of my others use propane/butane gas, but this one is alcohol.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has commented yet on how it looks like a train engine that, instead of wheels, has a crapload of legs propelling it. This brings a lot of things to mind, most of them steampunk fantasy-related. Of course, I guess the reason no one's mentioned it is probably just because that's exactly what is, a locomotive-sized version of this would be uber-cool, especially to ride in.

OK... I think I figured it out. It's not quite as complex as it looks. The legs are attached at 2 points, held vertical. One point is attached to the center, the other to a rotating arm. Each rotating arm is a few degrees advanced from the one to the rear of it... must have taken a lot of time to get it all timed right!
