Mahalo for doing this video. Did you soak the chicken eggs in brine to make a quasi-ham dan? Yup, I'm in Hawaii (Hilo) and I wanted to try making these.
Thanks so much for this video. I did a bit of searching and found some molds that would work for this. Hope this helps all who are searching. Go to Amazon and do a search for "Stainless Steel Pyramid Mold"
@felishaanne69 - thanks for the tip! That's interesting that now you can buy stainless steel pyramids on Amazon...they're probably for fancy cakes and such. My mold came with the base to hold the pyramid steady while I filled it. I wonder if these molds also come with a base?
The hand method isn't that difficult. It's a matter of just bending the leaves to form a triangle. It's quite easy. I think someone will say this metal thing makes the job slower and harder :)

@kikukat1 Yes, we soaked the chicken eggs in a heavy salt brine.

What kind of eggyolk did you use? Was that a regular eggyolk (chicken) or duck's eggyolk?
thelily03 1 year ago
@thelily03 - we used chicken egg yolks to make the zhongzi / bak chang

Is the meat cooked? or raw?
bbbootata 1 year ago
@bbbootata - the meat is raw when we assemble the zongzi but then we boil the whole dumpling for 4 hours to cook it.
