Another great choice is (if you can afford it, I can't) getting a new Intel based Mac with some descent power with at least 1 gig of ram and a pretty big hard drive and dual boot Mac OSX and Windows Vista...and there you got the ultimate system with the best from both worlds!
I like OSX86 but its more to piss off someone like steve jobs.
I frankly cant stand continually running into limitations of Mac and hardware drivers ( nevermind the software) that they dont support. They piss off too many hardware venders: Prime example is SLI and Crossfire. Even Ubuntu supports these functions.
Something like Ubuntu will overtake OSX in 4-5 years because of Apple's practices, no matter how much hype!
Yeah that's true, Ubuntu and other Linux distros support more hardware than Mac OSX...that's kinda lame. I think they want to get as far from a comparison of Windows and Mac as possible just to be able to say "we are totally different and we don't need the things that the other OS needs" or something like that...another problem is that Macs are extremely overpriced!
Just upgraded to Ultimate, and it's a fucking nightmare runaround of bullshit downloads, updates, restarts and so on! FOUR FUCKING HOURS SO FAR, and it's STILL not finished! Should have bought a Mac!
Someone tell Microsoft I want my money back and for them to dissolve as a company for the shite they keep putting on the market!!
hey guys go to xpango dot com and sign up using 90522772 as ur referral code.u get 67 credits.(i used 33 credits for my ipod video and for my psp)u get 67 credits for free.use them to get a ds ,a wii, or a xbox 360!
If you install Vista make double sure you have Windows XP on another HD or partition to be on the safe side untill Microsoft and Vendors have sorted out all the compatibility issues!
Ultimate and Business has a feature, Windows NT, 2K and XP Professional, even Windows 95, 98 and ME has, which is being able to log into a Domain Network. Windows XP Home Edition and Vista Home Versions can't do that which pretty much is a downgrade to all operating systems below XP. Also Vista Ultimate and Business has a feature called Remote Deskop, where you can remotely connect to it, which was first introduced in Windows NT Terminal Services.
That's always the best choice "both"! Windows Vista is not bad at all really, I like it much better than XP. It installed in my system in about 40 minutes and it was probably like an hour and a half (including updates, extras and installation time) when I was finished, the system reboots and shuts down really fast now, it also goes into stand by really quick...very secure for a Windows OS and very sofisticated...
Also has lots of added features (even if some of them resemble Mac and Linux which is true but they were needed anyway) and is the MS OS with the most changes ever, I like how they changed everything, it makes it fresh...we have to wait until Mac OSX Leopard though...
vista is nice an all but if you can use terminal in linux then its hands down linux wins i meself have run both an like vista more because im not all that good with terminal
Microsoft has finally, finally caught up with Mac. It's alright saying "lets say you want to access a file on another computer. no prob, if ur pc has vista it can search for the file on other networks or pc's in your home," but that has to be one of the simplest features of Mac OS X, if you want to search for something, it doesn't matter where it bloody well is. Hardly need to spend hundreds of pounds for that, it's crap to be honest and only level-pegs a 2 year old OS.
the only thing i think microsoft copy was the gadgets the search was in other windows aka RUN so no mac os x copied the run feature and made it better well so did microsoft
Whatever, everybody has their own point of the views. That's just mine. I will not waste my bucks upgrading my computer. I believe the next release of the new windows will be much impressive. Nice to discuss with you, Rockstarblunt
Not to offend, I just wonder if you have hear about the Linux or OSX, do you think playing videos as desktop background or so called animated back ground is useful? or effect for you daily work? And I have used the IBM voice software a few years ago. What about the vista? Will you use the voice control everyday, just turn on your pc and speak out a lot of commands? Do you believe the game function is better than that of the ps3 or 360?
"IF" you have the right hardware (like I do, yeah, kinda)...I always love Linux much, much more than Windows and MaxOSX just fucking rules...Linux could be even better though...but I have to use Vista 'cause I like to play games soo...you don't need Aero, that piece of crap is a system hog...just turn it off and enjoy the new features of Vista...
also having access to any other computer in your home, With just being on vista in your room. lets say you want to access a file on another computer. no prob, if ur pc has vista it can search for the file on other networks or pc's in your home. to me thats very impressive for vista.
not impressive? have u heard of the extra features in vista? like being able to play videos as desktop background or full effect animated backgrounds. or how about a cool feature to Talk to your pc? Ex. in mic say Start Program: MSN Messenger. and it starts up for you. not to mention directx 10 features and graphics. it bypasses ps3 and 360 with out a doubt.
Well Aero is set as the default interface when running Ultimate. So that's what you are looking at, no need to say this is Aero when you already know its Aero. If that make's any sense.
I am downloading it 100% free....including an 11 year subscription to Norton

really, it is not really impressive. by far, I do not know what's good in vista, just wasting money to upgrade the hardware. :-(
