  • I like this tutorial as I've never cooked a barbecue myself. I think I would be a little nervous to cook a steak etc (in case I messed it up). I've seen disposable barbecues here in the UK, and so think I might buy one & give it go. It would be good to see more introductory videos on basic barbecues.

  • I am with you man, my wife is the same way, wants her steak done, I say there is only one way to eat a steak and that is Medium Rare! and it dont need to steak sauce either

  • oh man i feel dumb now. i was gonna make a video of makin a rib eye too, and holy hell would it of been a keeper. i cut and cooked a 2.5" bone in Rib eye (almost a roast...) and got it nice and medium rare with a good sear, i used Kingsford charcoal and got that badboy up to almost 600. i used a bit of hickory after i seared all the sides shut. but it was so entertaining to sear it. flames almost 2 feet high when i was finishin. low and slow'd it for 16 minutes. fed two people. delicious

  • When u use wood chips aren't u supposed to have the lid closed?

  • Looks great as always Dave ! In case ya forgot...this is "Making Salisbury steaks for Mike" from your pre-vid lol. From 1 old

Ex-G.I.. to another...teach these folks how to make some Rib stickin S.O.S. (G.I.'s know what it stands for =) )) or as a proper

Military cook would refer to as Creamed Chipped Beef on bread or Toast. Take care bud will continue to check back on your great cookin Vids...btw - I did the "boliled peanuts" vid...and as you would say.... Num Yum Yum lol.

  • I like the tip about waiting for the juices to surface before flipping. I'm gonna try that the next time I cook steak. Thanks, Dave!

  • I never knew that. Definetly gonna do that next time I cook a steak also

  • Here in the Midwest our corn fed beef is so flavorful we don't use seasonings, maybe just a little salt. Dave, did you soak the mesquite in water first? Try soaking for 30 minutes, good smoke that way. Like Dave said, maybe a little more charcoal, then 4 minutes a side.

  • I ssoaked them. I think I say that, but I may have dited it out?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • you should put a lid over the bbq the smoke will go all around.

  • Looks great as always, Dave!

  • That steak looks delicious. I might have to go pick me one up myself.

  • TWGC rocks. Great job Dave.

  • why do people always leave the seasoning and / or spices on top of the protein. You have to rub it in the meat in order for it to get the good taste and not simply burn on top of the meat while cooking.

  • The word is marinate you boob. He did say if you have the time let it marinate.

  • Man that looks Goood!! Went to the store tonight and rib eye....$9.99 a pound..

  • Looks real tasty ya made ME hungry

  • Ah using mesquite over there? Is that the normal wood to cook with out there? I'm from South Texas so its a very abundant tree over here and I always wondered if its was a common wood to cook with outside of Texas.

  • Excellent Dave, as always. Was wondering what you do for a living Dave? Just currious.

  • As you say, goooood stuuuuuuf.

  • I think it's okay to put a little bit of salt before you grill it. I heard that when you cook salted meat, it makes a better tastier crust due to different chemical reactions.

  • right on dave i cooked 4 steaks yesterday
