  • at the least somebody added over vocals to this. it could just be a great cover. either way, if it's added vocals or a complete cover, it's fantastic and i enjoy this more than the album version.

  • so cooooool....!

  • watch?v=mUpVzmGxpWY&feature=related

  • MEEEOOOW... !

  • Comment removed

  • this is pretty good, almost as good as the album version.. I'd like to hear a few of the elements that show up here more clearly on the album version

  • keyed up

  • wooo where and how did you get this ?

  • Something fishy about this video 1:39 Thom is always precise in his songs cause he's a perfectionist, he would not sing that line in that way... if it isn't radiohead not a bad cover though...

  • @SuperDangerfish

He isn't a "perfectionist". Read some interviews - Thom often relies on Radiohead to put songs together, particularly arrangements and finishing them.

Also this is clearly Thom. I've had this bootleg since 1996. It's double tracked, or using a guide vocal.

  • Okay, for all the arguments about whether or not this is radiohead, i think this can settle it: this version is actually better than the studio version, now could someone else do a version of this song better than radiohead's? I think NOT! So conclusion: it's radiohead.

  • Phil does do backups occasionally. You can see him with one of those headset mics on in some videos.

  • wow i love radiohead

  • Wasn't this song writen about Tony Blair's campaign/election? That'd be around 1995-1997. When was this live recording?

  • Thom, Ed and Phil are all singing. Everybody who says otherwise needs to shut up.

  • this is not Thom lol

  • i can see how ppl mistake this for a sped up version, but hey, isn't the saying "when i go forward, u go backwards" ? I say we let them be backwards, as long as it hurts nobody.

  • Incredible version...Much better than the original...Still a wonderful song...

  • @TheSupersonicLiam really? i think that the lp version is better more "professional"

  • yes,its the real deal...try 2 find a live version of "the trickster"same qualuty.....

  • It's blates Thom :)

  • it's Thom absolutely. i know this song.

  • I'm pretty sure that's Thom and Johnny and/or Colin harmonizing. They're just in a higher octave with different timing. Sounds legit to me. I like this early version.

  • Man neither jonny nor colin sing, only Ed , and this is Ed and thom,

  • @Toccor dont forget phil :) he can actually sing

  • @SilentFisher Jonny never does backup vocals does he?

It's mainly Ed on backing vocals, but I don't think I've ever seen jonny doing them too.

  • It's done by Radiohead

It sounds like Thom at the end

If it was a cover.. then a perfect one!!

check this vid, it's Electioneering 1996:

    watch?v=mUpVzmGxpWY

  • why did my comment had been thumbed down? WTF? I was only writing part of the lyrics. You all act under the influence of thumbs!! (That means when someone thumbs down you want to thumb down too). ridiculous.

  • thumb up

  • I will stop...

    I will stop AT NOTHING

  • we sure this is actually Radiohead? it doesn't even sound like Thom really

  • it does.

  • If its not its a damn good cover. All I know is that the thank you at the end sounded exactly like him.

  • I agree, doesn't really sound like him.

  • check the middle eight!

  • I like it!! Radiohead is the best!!

  • your mom?LMAO

  • son of bitch racist

  • Lol, I'm not sure do I like this... weird choral vox.

  • i like the folk feeling of this version

  • it's radiohead...that sounds like thom so much...and i am pretty sure that's ed singing with thom...i remember hearing a live version that sounded like this, so i'm pretty certain it is them

  • It could be the song sped up a little if it was on a cassette... Listening again I could see it that way... But I am still a little skeptical. I mean it's tight enough to be the band, but I still kind of think it's someone trying to sound like Tom... One thing that leans toward it being real is the sound of the crowd which sounds REALLY large. Still I don't know... It does sound like Johnny's guitar though, and the ending Thank you sounds like Thom... so maybe it is. Actually it probably is.

  • If ya listen you can tom almost perfectly but theres another layer over it. Like tape echo or someone singing. The very last sound in the track is what does it for me. Only Tom can make it. Sounds like an old boot leg

  • Yeah what kind of gets me to thinking it's tom is that last sound he makes too... I think what's throwing me off is this probably came from a tape, which got warped from heat and abuse, and now sounds all funky. Maybe it was played too fast, etc... Which can shift things up a bit. The other thing that gets me is Johnny's guitar. After 4th inspection I think this is them. The second layer is not echo, it has to be another vocal, because it has a complete different timbre to it.

  • When I go forwards, you go backwards, and somewhere we will meet.

  • What? This is definitely Thom, how can you not hear it? He's probably got the most distinct singing accent in the world, it's kinda hard to imitate him this perfectly.

  • thank you

  • i think it's the real band the audio is speeded up so that's probably why the voices sound so thin.

that pretty much explains the pitch is higher than usual

  • It's definately Thom singing and Radiohead. But the pitch is too high ;|

  • I don't think this is actually Radiohead covering this song... This sounds like a cover... First off the double vocal thing isn't present in the song, and neither vocalist sounds like Thom...

If it is a cover... damn good job by the band... The vocals are a little... I dunno screechy... if it is actually radiohead, Thom sounds very different than normal, and sounds more screechy than he normally does.

  • its thom and ed singing it says in the description

sounds like they're just playing it faster than usual

  • Since the style of this song itself was such a departure for Radiohead I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the vocal performances, especially of an early version, would be wildly different than typical Thom and Ed. At times it really doesn't sound like them. But if there's any question about who's singing all you need to do is listen closely to the end. That "thank you" is obviously pure Thom. Weird, but cool. Thanks for posting this.

  • Is that Ed singing backup?

  • ed's amazing.

  • I love the more spontaneous feel it has. It's like AAAARRGGGHHHH

  • Wow, so much energy.

  • you serious? I too listen to Radiohead a lot, and it definitely is haha. It's bad quality, but you can tell it's him, especially at 1:41, just for that little bit.

  • yeah it is, just sounds wierd because ed and thom don't normally harmonise like that. Unless it is thom harmonizing with himself

  • defo thom!

  • the tape run WAAAAY too fast, slow it down a lil'!

  • OMFG!! i love this. great song anyway but it sounds much..happier!!! oohh...faabbb

  • Wow, I really like this version. It sounds very beatlesque, which is no surprise since they are beatles fan.

  • where is this show ?

  • sounds more poppy

  • I dunno, I think it sounds more chaotic somehow. It's one of the things I've always liked about this song.

  • That's is not Thom Yorke in the picture nor is this an early demo version, the 'Breakfast Session' thing is very obviously photoshopped in.

    Nice try though.

  • the first part about Thom, could be true, because i found it on google under Thom Yorke Electioneering. although, i cant help but wonder what you think this recording really is, because it was recorded before OK computer, and its live. so there must be some confusion on the video you're watching.

  • The picture doesn't look like Thom, to be honest. But the recording is definitely legit. It's Radiohead, make no mistake about it.

By the way, what do you mean by "this is messed, at the ending they sorta lose it"? It sounded perfectly fine to me. Although it's hard to make out what they're singing at the end because of the sound quality.

  • you both sound a tad stupid. One guy insulting the others grammar, the other being a pretentious pompous twat. Enjoy fighting. I'm fairly sure radiohead don't give a fuck about this being on youtube. If you're not intellegent enough to know this is shit quality and live, you probably aren't a radiohead fan. If you are, and were interested in history and live recordings, why not? Who cares, if people want to watch it let them. Please do leave the comments up. Quite the beacon of 'warning: idiots'

  • what's with the picture?

  • its Thom Yorke in a studio session called "breakfast session" - im pretty sure, but it might be the at the dungeon studio (i think thats what its called)

  • well it says breakfast session behind him so.. yeah.. haha

  • ya, but it might not actualy be there, it sort of seems like someone just put it there

  • Yeah i guess.. why would they have an advertisment for it for people to look at when they are already there?

    lol..

  • There is something severely wrong with the sound quality.

  • its from a crapy recorder at a live concert you idiot

  • You're very mature. I would be grumpy too if I was stuck in my mom's basement disrespecting a great band by posting horrible recordings that Radiohead never intended to have widely distributed. Get a real job you stupid bitch. Clean out your waxy ears & finish drinking your prune juice old man. I can tell you're not a true fan. Stick with K.D. Lang - she needs you as much as you need her.

  • wow, you know what? im not even going to delete that comment. i just want everyone too see that there are actualy people out there who think this way. ill have you know that im 15. being in my moms basement at this age isint bad. in fact, if im able to get these demos by this age, aposed to just watching them doing 10x salvia in my underwear, and being pissed that you could never do this, then im proabably going to get far in life on computers and music.

btw good grammar, how long did it take?

  • Ok kid, I couldn't have known you were so young. I'll leave you alone. I was just having a little bit of fun. Radiohead is cool and there's nothing wrong with being a fan and posting things that interest you. Btw, my opinions regarding demos & bootleg recordings are universal. Very few high quality bands want their early raw/live recordings to be consumed by the masses since people often use poor recording equipment to immortilize unfinished work. I'm sure you'll do well in life kid.

  • ya, i totaly agree with you. if you know the kurt cobain demo's a lot of those songs were never relesed on there albums, but when he died, money sucking courtney love relesed his demos way overpriced and, without his permission. however, im just doing this for free, becasue i want everyone elese to hear this music. and besides from what i hear, i doubt yorke minds, youre canadian, read todays star, it talks about lenny kravits covering creep and he doesnt mind at all.

    sorry if i sounded angry.

  • another thing, a lot of the demos i have, are actually from tapes that they sold in they're earlier years. so, if they ever heard this, then they could blame no one but themselves.

  • Good points. I suppose only true fans would seek out their unknown/unreleased work anyway. So, material that sounds less than perfect would probably only travel towards the ears of their most discerning fans. A band of this great caliber would not be affected by copycat singers and/or poor quality recordings b/c we know what they are truly capable of producing. For the record, I'm obsessed with this band. No one compares. Keep up the good work. I see that you have posted a lot of good stuff.

  • Does your mother know you have an awful potty mouth?

  • I'm going to show your mother what you have been writing. She or he will give you a real big spanking.

  • my question is where did you get this as well as the other demo's?

  • That's not Radiohead.

  • how old is this demo?

  • you sped up the tape didn't you???

  • lol, no, listen to thoms voice, if you listen closely, it is indeed normal. i could make a video of it in slow motion if you want.

  • LOL it sound awful :p

  • wtf... sif it does... retard

  • sounds a bit like the beach boys?
