These are from way back when Citroen knew how to make crazy but interesting cars. I like the C6 now, but people say it can't stand a chance against its German, Japanese, and Swedish competitors. The XM and the Renault 25/Safrane they are some of the coolest cars the French have built for the past 30 years or so.

Today I removed all the leaves and dirt form my newly bought 1992 XM D12 Break. It's been standing under trees still for a year. I also vacuumed it, and then I cleaned all the fabrics in it (door and floor covers and seats) with a water washer for carpets, The water got extremely dirty :P Now I just need to get my engine changed (the current is leaky), and my license, then I'm ready to go \o/

The Xantia is more relyable and handles better.

Nothing wrong with the ride of an XM, untill you have to break or corner suddenly. Then you notice it is a heavy and cumbersome beast.

Like them both, but prefer Xantia myself.

I have one rotting in my backyard. These cars are terrible. They're full of whacky gadgets that are prone to malfunction, making this car highly unreliable. A good example of this is the suspension system. This one failed on me more than five times since I had the car. Even after 8 months of age, electronics started to fail. And the best part is when the car won't run at all because of some unimportant electronic malfunction. Even American cars are more reliable than this.

so youd like to ride in an xm well ive fitted soft spheres to mine and no kidding it resembles the ride of an aircraft,as far as probs with elecs go its all down to the connectors the go gangrine and if you wd40 them all then youve beaten the probs they so suffer from,mines a 92 and everything works right down to every bulb in the doors switches and centre cosole that most people have forgotten were there,Bon Voyage.

I wouldn't diss owners of another brand. I love Citroéns as much as anyone, but the buildquality is bonkers compared to most other brands.

My local taxi driver actually had two XM's. None of his motors fell a part, so it must have been 12v. The first drowned in a flood. Both of them where wonderful cars, and was the same green as the car in this advert btw. I loved riding in them. So comfortable and quiet, and the pur of the engine on top of that.. I wouldn't mind owning one:-)

This is not just 'weight leveling suspension' in the XM. It's a suspension created to make the car as comfortable as possible. The car was first released in 1989 and even today there are few cars as comfortable as XM. And all the electronics inside... again even today many modern car owners can dream of that equipment. But to be fair... XM is not an unfailing car. It's cheap to buy byt expensive to keep in good condition. Im getting one as my next car :-)

I have also the XM V6.24 in the same colour Vert Véga and leather interior. A lot of comfort and a lovely design. With this ZPJ4 engine, due to the torque and engine sound the XM is very sporty.
