I want so much to believe this, but, both main parties are getting a lot of money from the same people, and even more importantly, they are both mortally invested in keeping the federal government powerful, authoritarian, and bloated like an engorged tick. I want so much to believe in Pres Obama. Seriously though, do we really believe the pres. has any real power these days? For the past 40+ years they seemed to have taken orders from others. If Obama fights it, he needs his own T-800 protector.
Hey there. I don't think you're completely wrong, but I do think you're mistaking incremental change for no change. For instance, in fundraising we've gone from the rich having all the clout to them sharing clout with middle-class donors.
Also, if you define progress as the government losing power, then you can say we've had no progress. But in the last 40 years, I see progress in Roe V Wade, healthcare, pollution, gay rights, medical marijuana, ARPANET, to name a few.
That is a good point. I do admit the government was instrumental in enforcing civil rights and environmental laws. The drug war, however, is still raging and as the govt grew in the past twenty years so has the prison population (to a sickening degree). These are signs that special interests are still firmly in control. Pres Obama should decriminalize drugs, then he could decree that I have to sleep with Madeleine Albright(sorry girl, had to use some1) -and I would gladly salute and dive in!

Until you stop becoming the party of old southern white men sitting on the porch, drinking brandy, and wishing that America had stayed as they wanted it to stay. Until you change the faces of the party from one color to represent America you will destroy yourself. Having an all white cast such as David Duke, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, All White Tea Parties, etc. will NEVER help you.
As an old Southern white man, I gotta say, while I couldn't vote for Obama and his ideas, I can see a lot of good coming from the pride and sense of accomplishment and a being part of history felt by black citizens in this great country. Obama was elected. With that behind us, can we now move to the ideas of the leaders we choose & not weather they are black, white, old or young or green. Also, weren't there more blacks in the Bush Admin than any other?
I would love to move on, but The Republican Party chooses not to move on. They have no ideas other than "no". Their ideas are unfortunately stale, tired and represent only a small percenatage of the electorate they need in order to win. As long as all of the same old white guys are out there talking about the same old thing, the GOP will stay the same and continue to lose. It's unfortunate because if they wouldn't alienate other races, which will be the majority, they might have a chance.
I guess thats the problem with this country. To many white males. We need to get rid of them and create government policies that essentially shut them out of jobs like affirmative action. Its lucky the democratic party doesn't apply this policy to jews or it would sound rather racist and genocidal.
I'm sick and tired of hearing about how Affirmative Action is so wrong. Affirmative Action is right! It would never have been created had white America not been racist towards minorities. So don't blame Affirmative Action. Blame the people that never stood up for minorites. The scales are starting to tip the other way.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ... Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7)
Not really because I haven't owned any slaves in my lifetime so I can't say I benefited from "slavery" at all and I am also not responsible for past generations that are connected to me or not connected to me.
I hate to tell you this but I happen to be a separate individual from everyone else who is not connected to everyone else in some fascistic way.
The GOP is doomed! Sour grapes becoming bitter raisins. The country has changed and they haven't noticed. The Party is over and they are passed out in the corner with the lampshade over their head. Their marriage to subjective reality is ending in a bitter divorce with the American people. This parade of the same old faces with the same old tired lines will not change anything. Their futile attempts to turn back the clock; to refold unfolded paridigms is hopeless. Finished I tell you, Finished!

Ron Paul got like 4% of the GOP vote... Paul is NEVER going to be President... change your meds... Paul is Ralph Nadar of the GOP!.. meanwhile say what you want about Bush... He got elected 2x!!!
Ron Paul for president.....come on america do your home work and check out what Ron stands for.....he can bring this country back to what it was ......go ron!!! and god bless

Problem is with coward ronnie that he does not want to bring the country back to what it was..a free and proud white men land, he keeps talking about the constitution. good talk mind you, but useless for the purpose at hand, i.e. getting the country back.
time to water that tree. and if he wants to be a leader he needs to make that call and let the liberty bell ring again and more powerful this time around.
Party , GOP , clearly is controlled by New World Order, just like the Democrats... Unless you control the State Central Committees, you lose. Democracy is one small
step from Mobocracy - - > What America needs is a true Republican [not political meaning] , i.e. Representative ratio of :
There is a power vacuum in the Republican party. Rahm Emmannuel the warmonger (who is worse than Bush) is worried about this so he is trying to build up that slob Limbough. It won;t work, What worries me is the warmongering Democrat Leadership slips conscription in for their evil war they want with IRan. If that happens we may have to forget about voting and consider watering the tree.
the republicans must rid themselves of the neocon cabal. I believe Dr. Paul will win. We have passion. and we are right. war, empire, the patriot act must go. We don't know that it will be slow. WE HAVE TO BELIEVE!!
I really liked your video and your channel. If you really want to get your business exposed, I have a program that does exactly that. This same program has boosted my business to the top of the internet.I promise this is not a mlm, pyramid scheme, or how to make money on ebay program. If you get a chance please check out my channel and my videos and visit my webpage. Thanks again can't wait to hear from ya.
3. We need younger version of Dr. Ron Paul who can bring a broader mass appeal. There are far too many un-sophicated voters cannot see beyond the book's cover. Younger, female,or racial minority candidate would be the best bet.
Only question is: is there anyone qualified who has firm knowledge and belief in constitution, principles of liberty, and sound economic policy as Dr. Ron Paul?
jumperno64, I'm not sure about Mark Sanford at this point. He seems to be saying right things (then again many republicans are now that they're minority now) and I applaud him for standing up against Federal Gov't at least more than other spineless governors.
I just don't know much about him and his past track records.
hellnowewont, Former NM Governor Gary Johnson is more than qualified!
Pandering to Gender and Race makes me sick. Why doesn't REPUTATION mean anything anymore??? Merrit? Experience?
The GOP made the same mistake you are suggesting when McLame chose Sarah D.A. Palin to be his running mate. Show me a Black Woman that has Gary Johnson's reputation and I will support her 100%, but don't disqualify the most Qualified candidates just because they are WHITE MEN!
You are very astute. I think the Republicans are finished for a long time. My observation is that there is very little philosophical difference between the two parties these days. Both are bent on increasing the size and scope of government, raising taxes, limiting freedom, and giving lots and lots of money to a small handful of insiders. It is history repeating itself.
I'm a republican, I vote republican, but, yep, your right, I truly agree limit and make smaller government- BRING THE POWER BACK TO THE PEOPLE AND THE STATES - RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!
Thats why I quit Bush when he signed the bailout bill. I've always suspected he was a closet liberal and my suspicion was confirmed after he signed the bailout bill.
The moderates of both parties seem to be supporting some other agenda then the people's. I appreciate this video as I often speak to NeoCon Republicans and I stess the point that when Dems talk to me I try to have something positive to say like, "I am glad to see Obama support Hapeas Corpus now when will he support Auditing the Fed?" I think that it is key that these two Far sides of each party commit to dialog. The right and left hemisphere are effective when in conjunction.
Don't let these WWF candidates sway you. Lots of colors and personality, no idea how to solve root problems. Those neocons have led to defeats which may result in socialism, and terrible economy at best.
Let the Dr. Ron Paul Prescribe The Cure To Americas Many Ailments! We don't need entertainment, we need solutions. Go Ron Paul in 2012!
hey dude i agree with you 100 percent, well 95 percent, we conservatives do need to move back to libertarian and founding father politics and embrace the internet. i agree with everything you say except for ron paul. hate to say it, but there is something about him as a person, not a politician that i just don't like. hes creepy dude, sorry. other than that, hell yeah and right on amigo!!!
He's creepy because you're used to the newest form of republicans (big govt, spend more, print more). He's what republicans used to be, sound money, civil liberties, less government, less taxes, and most importantly Freedom!
you misunderstand im as much libertarian as i am republican. i think bob barr is a great candidate and would make a good president, i just get a bad vibe from ron paul personnally. its just him, not politics.
If integrity, honesty, and a flawless track record give you a bad vibe it's just because every other politician that you have seen has lacked those qualities.
Ron Paul is one of a very small handful of people currently in service to this country that has proven himself trustworthy to hold any office.
I always appreciate someone recognizing Ron Paul, but you just don't get it. Paul's campaign was not about the Republican Party, or rebuilding it. The principles of a TRUELY free society transcend all your partisan political rhetoric. And I hate to state the obvious, but Obama is cut from the same cloth as Bush. Let's see, bailout and housing bill. Sound familiar? Troops surge. Sound familiar? Deficit spending. Sound familiar? Sometimes I just laugh at the outright lack of common sense
Wrong...... The entire country did NOT totally change, a few moderates in the swingstates went to Obama, Jindal is the future of the GOP, it's not a matter of IF he'll be President but WHEN....
If Jindal is the future of the GOP then the GOP will continue to lose in the future. Ron Paul's ideology and hundreds of House and Senate candidates who run on Ron Paul's platform MUST be the future of the GOP.
I thought you were crazy at first, but this actually turned out quite insightful. But how could you praise democrats and Ron Paul in the same video? At his core, Ron Paul is no Republican, and he is far from Democrat. He is a historian of world empires, and Austrian economist, a Nostradamus of our current mis-fortunes. You are right that this country must fall before a Ron Paul like revolution can put it back on track.
Ron Paul is good man but he is kind of crazy. The democrats are trying to make this a socialist country. The only thing that will save this country is a Reagan style leader. I do agree that the Republican Party needs to change. They need to reach the younger voters out there. They need to go back to their roots. Less government, less taxes, more capitalism, strong military with a willingness to use it. Basically stop trying to appease the whiny liberals.
Sorry but I remember the Reagan era quite well and other than the spending in the arms race with The Soviet Union Reagan was a lot more like Ron Paul than George W. Bush. I notice you slipped in that "...willingness to use it" remark to try and suggest that Reagan was a trigger happy imperialist fascist like George W. Bush. If you really are 36 like your profile suggests you know that wasn't the case. Reagan was in fact an old school Republican and that was before the Neocons hijacked the party.
OK. So you agree with me that a Reagan style leader is needed. I never mentioned George Bush in my comment. I do not like Bush although I have to give him credit for riding the world of Sadam. Obviously you support Ron Paul, why do you talk so bad about the Republican Party. Ron Paul obviously believes in the Republican point of view.Ron Paul is basically an Isolationist and that is something that unfortunately the US can not do. We are the watchdog of the world and that is reality.
A Reagan style leader is needed but Reagan was not who you're making him out to be. Moreover my point about the Republican Party is that it has been hijacked by the Neocons for the past eight years and should get back to its roots and Ron Paul will be the first person to tell you that. As far as being a "watchdog" that's assinine especially since the Neocon America of the past several years has been the world's greatest violator of international laws.
Ron Paul is not an isolationist... he believes in buying, selling, and trading with all countries of the world.... he just doesn't believe in policing the world.
The idea is false, Ron Paul is not an Isolationist, he is a non interventionist, the same powerful idea of getting gov out of our domestic lives is the same idea that will work for foreign policy. Central preplanned orders do not work: domestically or internationally. History shows it just look around. The founders spoke well of ROn Paul foreing policy that is their advice. Trading with nations and alliance with none is NOT isolationism. So your statemetn is false.
Neocon is another word for liberal. Neocon is a word that was made up by a socialist liberal to describe another socialist liberal. The democrats just changed the meaning to suit their needs. You are either conservative or not conservative. Like I said we need a real conservative leader, because these liberals pretending to be conservatives are destroying the party. I am very happy that Obama won however, because he will mess up and conservatives will be elected and will fix it.
Neocon is someone who masqueraded as a conservative during the Bush years to accomplish an agenda that benefits a few select special interest groups namely bankers, war profiteers, big oil, and Israel. They just cloaked themselves with the word "conservative" to justify their agenda and now they're using the Democrats to get their way. They are neither liberal nor conservative and are simply a parasitic leech on the American government and the American people.
But you should not tell the opposition HOW to win - you should let them keep on believing that Lush Limpdick and Shithead Hannity is right and they need to go FURTHER over to Cuckooland to regain power!
Why would you want them to get there act together enough to regain power and start screwing things up on a massive scale again?
I'm glad I stumbled onto this video. While Ron Paul is the figure head for our movement, he is just the messenger, and we, his supporters, are about the message, not them man. While I would love to see Dr. Paul run in 2012 (so what if he's old? The guy runs 7 miles daily!), if he decides he does not wish to run, or god forbid, his message changes, I'll find a candidate to support who carries the correct message, regardless of party.
Liberals and progressives like yourself will undoubtedly be gravely disappointed by Obama as he won't achieve anything you want. Conversely the Ron Paul anti war platform should attract disenchanted Democrats and is really the only way for Republicans to go at this point. The bottom line is that war profiteering, fighting wars for other countries, and giving away the Treasury to a bunch of crooks is anything but conservative. True old fashioned conservatism is what Americans want at this point.
Ron Paul supporter here. Very good video Joe, you've lent me some clarity to define the current goals of the grassroots libertarian undercurrent flowing right here on the net and in peoples hearts. Shrewd insight.
You of course view your platform as "moderate" although it is Liberal. And when you say you wish to see Republicans become more "moderate" that is to say you wish to see them be more moderate. Yeah we lost, i did not expect Dems to take this win graciously. But we will NEVER compromise our platform and "change" because some cultural fad got into the Whitehouse with the help of the Liberal media, go kill a baby or something you nerd.
hey. Great video. It's just too bad that THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ISN'T LOOKING FOR NEW IDEAS!!! They just want to "rebrand" themselves so they can theoretically get more votes!!!
Unfortunately you're right. We've got to get our production values straight and learn how to sell this libertarian message more effectively. That's why I'm calling on a DFC/RLC coalition to stop these collectivists on both sides. Let's start electing some govenors first. The time to start is now, because the Dems and GOP are already up to their old tricks and hitting early. Anyway, just my two cents.
Interesting video. You've got a lot of insight about the political landscape. Personally, I think the Republican Party is finished. They have compromised their entire platform and have no point of difference. They have alienated all of their conservative base with the wingnuts they've been running, so don't expect any Republican presidents for the next decade or so. Much of what you say is extremely on point. Those who favored Ron Paul need to transfer the ideals to a new generation.
great video! I especially liked the part about both sides being for peace. As it stands now, neither side seems to stand for peace and both seem to be controled by the powers that stand for war. The real war is between those who want peace between Palestine and Israel; and those who want that war to continue till the bitter end.
the president elect is already appointing some wonderful "different" people! By that I mean the same type of people that have been in office since back in the day.
Watched this video again for perspective. Brilliant. You speak to everyone here and you hit their listening points in a way that doesn't prod the other. You have a rare gift for communication. You aren't very funny though:)
I'm happy for you, but Obama is talking wars we cannot afford (sound familiar). While Iraq is slowing down, the bases there, along with bases in almost every nation will stay. Afghanistan is what really killed Russia. It cost too much money. We need more manufacturing here at home. R. P. and D. K. were shunned because they are not in the pockets of lobbyist. I'm Independent if it matters. We need serious cuts in federal spending, and a FED audit. Ron P votes by the Constitution. Good Videos BTW!
Not to mention that blackwater USA is planning to expand while we pull troops out of IRAQ which will escalate the violence...Obama simply didnt have the balls to take on the millitary industrial complex while he was running so now we are doomed....
I've been a republican for a while, a real republican, not a neo-con, or a socio-religious conservative, and i've watched the growth of the movement around Ron Paul with intense joy and my own funds. Ron himself has long argued that the 'movement' must go beyond him, to eventually rewrite both the republican party, and hopefully the country and it's adherence to the constitution, his latest book "the revolution: a manifesto" was all about how to take the movement beyond him and the 2008 election.
Americans are too stupid to get it right anyway. They will vote for whomever the TV tells them to vote for. Unless there is a revoution on the streets, DC will continue to screw them over.
Ron Paul of course! If they dont get back to libertarian roots, then the GOP will forever be known as the gun toting, bible thumping, homophobic, war monger party. Not to mention they will forever be a minority power & will never run DC again.
I definitely agree with you completely. I will probably never vote Republican, but I've never been so disgusted with the party as I am now. It's like they have completely forgotten the separation of church and state and let the party be taken over by religious fanatics. Nothing irritates me more.
So why in the world would any Ron Paul supporter take advice from this guy - someone who says he is a progressive and will never support the Republican Party, even if Ron Paul's millions took it over completely? Methinks I smell a rat.
i agree, too bad that our government doesn't want someone like ron paul in office. he would make the government less powerful and... well.. you can guess what i'm getting at.
libertarian and conservative philosophies are very closely linked and it is much better for any libertarians to shift the republican base to their ideals (which are truly conservative) rather than try to set up a third party...
libertarians beliefs are for the most part classical liberalism, you can say that it fits old conservatism but so does all most every thing because conservatism is a ever changing political philosophy. libertarianism , and feudalism both are " old conservative " ideas . i dont think theres such thing as a "true conservative", and if there is it surely wouldn't be ron paul or barry gold water (both of which i greatly admire) but someone like the French nobles of the time of king Louis XVI. lol
I am impressed with two individuals in the GOP. One is Ron Paul and we all know why. The other may be the Joshua you speak of. (Only the future will tell.) He is young and seems intelligent and for a wippersnapper has handled the office he employs now fairly well amidst emergency crises. His name is Bobby Jindal. (perhaps inexperianced....not much of a resume....oh,wait! I'm I thinking of the prez elect???)
I was a Paul Supporter, then like Judas, strayed.... Then the economy went into a nose dive, Obama began talking about taking troops out of Iraq....and relocating them to Afghanistan, Then he named his cabinet with more of the same names who's legacy laid in the Clinton Administration
Needless to say I will not make that same mistake ever again.
The man may not be the most Charismatic or media friendly but he speaks truth, and he speaks from his heart.Ron Paul I listen with open ears and heart
"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism" - G.W.
U disappointed with Obama yet? you will be ? Change ? what change ? Gates ? Clinton ? Eric Holder ? Geithner ? Geithner nomination is like the fox watching the hen house.
Bush is a puppet, obama is a puppet. a puppet not of the public but of the bankers. The Federal Reserve. End slavery, End the FED !
i subsed (cause subbed already means something) for 2 reasons. 1: you sound like you know what you're talking about; and 2:you sound like that guy from nod in C&C1 who tells you what your mission is.
Montana Nevada and Alaska aren't exactly moderate Republican states, but your point about the party shunning Ron Paul is so true...they didn't even want to have him at the Republican debates! It was so sad, I'm a republican and a Paultard too, but it just seems like when your party is not willing to compromise or not even listen, it really screws you over. Ron Paul is awesome.
Dump the Republicans, vote Libertarian. We need to destroy the two party system by abolishing the Electoral College and ending gerrymandering. I will never support the Republicrats, Ron Paul is a Republican only so he can reach more people, not because the Republicans today represent him.
Thank you for making the video. My sentiments exactly. The country continues to need fiscal conservatives in influential positions. If they are to be respected in the future, some will need to let go of the social tyranny they stand for.
It will return!....The politics of fear and greed are not gone! With the right mix of these toxins "fear and greed" incubated in the social cognitive insecurities of an under educated mass, and....presto! We are back in business! Ba ha ha ha! I think I can sell this!
I think the repubs will disband, the name is too tainted, I think a new political party will emerge from the right, they'll call it conservatins or something like that. Good video though.
O.K so you've given the republicans ideas about what they will need to do to regain power. More importantly, how do progressives keep the faith when (as is common in politics) it looks/feels like campaign promises are not coming to fruition as quickly as we would like? We might know intellectually, "our guy" will have to make tough decisions, some of which will not seem progressive, but it can be disheartening. The challenge for democrats: how to keep dreams/expectation grounded in reality
I'm still expecting the promises to be kept. Withdraw the troops, close Guantanamo, restore the constitution, change the tax code, enact subsidized healthcare. Ask me in a year if it hasn't happened.
Please forgive the negativity, but I remember G.W.B's promise to constituionally ban gay marriage. His religious base was devastated by their own delusions.
While, Obamas administration and congress deserve the chance to make corrections & positive change under Obamas inspired leadership. We are however, still in the midst of fragile economy & continued terrorist attacks.
That said thanks for the great response, I may use it myself: I'm still expecting... ask me in a year.
If the GOP would finally have some true conservative values that they actually followed and not just claimed to follow that would be better. Also, Ron Paul was a pretty good candidate, just crazy economic policies ruined him for me.
Ron Paul was the only GOP primary candidate that I would have considered voting for. While I agree that he is a bit 'out there' with some of his economic views, he was the only Republic candidate that I felt genuinely wished to change things for the better. The other candidates, John McCain included, seemed content to simply bury their heads in the sand on a number of issues.
In my mind an Obama v. Paul matchup would have been more balanced than the no contest McCain v. Obama we were given.
"While I agree that he is a bit 'out there' with some of his economic views, he was the only Republic candidate that I felt genuinely wished to change things for the better. "
Are you kidding me, The Economy is his strong suit, if anything, everything he has said about the economy is now coming to be... While the other candidates made empty statements that sound TV friendly he was the only one giving history lessons and speaking in Economic "Mumbo Jumbo"
we're talking about the NEW senate, the one that has 58 Democrats and 42 Republicans... and the republican party is regrouping, and until they have regrouped "googling" the platform is going to be pointless
The GOP undeniably made a mistake in disenfranchising the Ron Paul revolution, but I tend to differ with your opinion on the direction they should take moving forward. You suggest they move to the center on a host of issues, but I think they owe their stunning defeat to the fact that they've shunned their conservative base. It's accurate to say that no one represents the republican party, but more to the point, the republican party no longer represents anyone, least of all the conservative wing.
simply put, it's darwinism vs socialism. the credit crunch has meant everyone is in need of help and socialism has temporarily pravailed in 2008. once this crisis is over and the people at the top feel secure in their domination over society we'll get a republican government ready and willing to practice darwinism.
Is it time for the Repubs to give up the Southern Strategy? That strategy provides a deep and abiding cynicism for their party. From that place, only weakness grows, imo.
Great job on this video, Joe - you keep getting better and better. This was a watershed, truly intelligent and broad-based commentary!
I wondered why the Republican party would not have at least included Ron Paul more prominently just on the basis of how much money he received. It seemed like a lost opportunity. In any event I believe that the Ron Paul movement is much like the Obama movement in that like-minded people are getting into politics and trying to make a change from a grassroots level. It will be extremely interesting how it all plays out and whether or not the two sides will eventually clash.
I don't know if the Ron Paul supporters would be able to reform the GOP, since they clash with the war hawks. Plus, some Republicans seem to be moving even further to the right (Palin 2012?).
This might be a good time for the 3rd parties to stretch their legs.
Ditch the Evangelicals, get back to the ideals of Barry Goldwater.

In my Opinion both parties are the same!
garyworkman 2 years ago
I would love to move on, but The Republican Party chooses not to move on. They have no ideas other than "no". Their ideas are unfortunately stale, tired and represent only a small percenatage of the electorate they need in order to win. As long as all of the same old white guys are out there talking about the same old thing, the GOP will stay the same and continue to lose. It's unfortunate because if they wouldn't alienate other races, which will be the majority, they might have a chance.
dwj91 2 years ago
I guess thats the problem with this country. To many white males. We need to get rid of them and create government policies that essentially shut them out of jobs like affirmative action. Its lucky the democratic party doesn't apply this policy to jews or it would sound rather racist and genocidal.
timbosforporn 2 years ago
I'm sick and tired of hearing about how Affirmative Action is so wrong. Affirmative Action is right! It would never have been created had white America not been racist towards minorities. So don't blame Affirmative Action. Blame the people that never stood up for minorites. The scales are starting to tip the other way.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ... Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7)

Finished I tell you, Finished!

step from Mobocracy - - > What America needs is a true Republican [not political meaning] , i.e. Representative ratio of :
1 rep per 5000 in cities over 40,000
1 rep per 3000 in towns under 40,000
1 County Supervisor per 20,000 for Counties
1 Assemblyperson per 25,000 for states
1 House Member per 30,000 for Congress

There is a power vacuum in the Republican party. Rahm Emmannuel the warmonger (who is worse than Bush) is worried about this so he is trying to build up that slob Limbough. It won;t work, What worries me is the warmongering Democrat Leadership slips conscription in for their evil war they want with IRan. This guy brings up some good points.
My thoughts:
1. Now is a good opportunity for Campaign for Liberty to take over the Republican party.
2. As much as I'd like to see this phony two party rule system to end, running as third party will only help Obama to get re-elected.
hellnowewont 2 years ago 2
Ron Paul?

Mark Sanford?
jumperno64 2 years ago
jumperno64, I'm not sure about Mark Sanford at this point. He seems to be saying right things (then again many republicans are now that they're minority now) and I applaud him for standing up against Federal Gov't at least more than other spineless governors.
I just don't know much about him and his past track records.

You are very astute. I think the Republicans are finished for a long time. My observation is that there is very little philosophical difference between the two parties these days. If integrity, honesty, and a flawless track record give you a bad vibe it's just because every other politician that you have seen has lacked those qualities.

You are right that this country must fall before a Ron Paul like revolution can put it back on track.

ds1070 2 years ago
Ron Paul is good man but he is kind of crazy. The democrats are trying to make this a socialist country. The only thing that will save this country is a Reagan style leader. I do agree that the Republican Party needs to change. They need to reach the younger voters out there. They need to go back to their roots. Less government, less taxes, more capitalism, strong military with a willingness to use it. Basically stop trying to appease the whiny liberals.
BPA1231 3 years ago
Sorry but I remember the Reagan era quite well and other than the spending in the arms race with The Soviet Union Reagan was a lot more like Ron Paul than George W. Bush. I notice you slipped in that "...willingness to use it" remark to try and suggest that Reagan was a trigger happy imperialist fascist like George W. Bush. If you really are 36 like your profile suggests you know that wasn't the case. Reagan was in fact an old school Republican and that was before the Neocons hijacked the party.
Wizard364 3 years ago
BPA1231 3 years ago
A Reagan style leader is needed but Reagan was not who you're making him out to be. Moreover my point about the Republican Party is that it has been hijacked by the Neocons for the past eight years and should get back to its roots and Ron Paul will be the first person to tell you that. As far as being a "watchdog" that's assinine especially since the Neocon America of the past several years has been the world's greatest violator of international laws.
Wizard364 3 years ago
Ron Paul is not an isolationist... he believes in buying, selling, and trading with all countries of the world.... he just doesn't believe in policing the world.
curtischesness 2 years ago
The idea is false, Ron Paul is not an Isolationist, he is a non interventionist, the same powerful idea of getting gov out of our domestic lives is the same idea that will work for foreign policy. Central preplanned orders do not work: domestically or internationally. History shows it just look around. The founders spoke well of ROn Paul foreing policy that is their advice. Trading with nations and alliance with none is NOT isolationism. So your statemetn is false.
clthinkingman 2 years ago
Neocon is another word for liberal. Neocon is a word that was made up by a socialist liberal to describe another socialist liberal. The democrats just changed the meaning to suit their needs. You are either conservative or not conservative. Like I said we need a real conservative leader, because these liberals pretending to be conservatives are destroying the party. I am very happy that Obama won however, because he will mess up and conservatives will be elected and will fix it.
BPA1231 3 years ago
Neocon is someone who masqueraded as a conservative during the Bush years to accomplish an agenda that benefits a few select special interest groups namely bankers, war profiteers, big oil, and Israel. They just cloaked themselves with the word "conservative" to justify their agenda and now they're using the Democrats to get their way. They are neither liberal nor conservative and are simply a parasitic leech on the American government and the American people.

Ron himself has long argued that the 'movement' must go beyond him, to eventually rewrite both the republican party, and hopefully the country and it's adherence to the constitution, his latest book "the revolution: a manifesto" was all about how to take the movement beyond him and the 2008 election.

But I don't think I can support Ron Paul in 4 yrs as he'll be getting a bit too old.
But we need someone like him & need to stop listening to the lunatic religious freaks in our party that would support an imbecile like Palin.

thats the hard part, there aren't many like him, well no one in the republican party that is

Totally right.
Ron Paul owns them now if the want to get back to being anything anyone will bother with now.

Our GOP needs to abandon the Religious fanatics & those who have sold their souls to lobbyist & are now working for the top 5%.
We had an outstanding candidate in Ron Paul, but we turned our back on him.
If we're gonna win "the middle" back we must ignore the nutcases who are spewing hatred all the time.

That would be different. I'm just happy we did not elect another D-student. Cheers.

Republicans Suck

simply put, it's darwinism vs socialism. the credit crunch has meant everyone is in need of help and socialism has temporarily pravailed in 2008. once this crisis is over and the people at the top feel secure in their domination over society we'll get a republican government ready and willing to practice darwinism.

I agree, well put.

I don't know if the Ron Paul supporters would be able to reform the GOP, since they clash with the war hawks. Plus, some Republicans seem to be moving even further to the right (Palin 2012?).
This might be a good time for the 3rd parties to stretch their legs.
Dyne77 3 years ago
I agree, this might actually be the perfect time for a third party to rise when one of the bigger ones is on it's knees right now.
