Thanks for this recipe. It looks delicious ! I will be making this next month. There are 4 birthdays in my household in the month of March. I can't wait to make it !! :DD
I made this cake for superbowl. Was a little nervous having never tried it. I wasn't sure if I needed to grease the pan. I didn't the butter did a good job of preventing any sticking. Amazing cake! This recipe has given me the confidence to branch out and try new recipes espically using pudding along with the batter. Makes it amazing and moist! Thank You Noreen amazing recipe!
I'm really excited to make this tomorrow. My only question is do I need to grease the pan or will the butter do a good enough job of preventing any sticking?
@jalkbc1980 im only 16 but i believe butter will brown it aka burn it faster. ill say use vegetable oil, my uncle uses flour. but i do not recommend butter..
Thanks so much for providing a video of your recipe. I made this for Christmas, and everyone loved it so much that there was nothing left for me . I will be doing it again real soon and hopefully I will be able to enjoy it. Thanks Again.!!!
I've been craving this cake, so happy to find a recipe on your channel! Mine is in the oven now and my house is smelling wonderful. And I get the whole thing for myself, hubby doesn't like it. If you were my neighbor I'd invite you, Rick and the girls over for dessert!
@xInstinctful Seriously? 9 ingredients is not 50, you must have misread something. If you don't want to make it than don't, but if you want a pineapple upside down cake recipe with 2 ingredients here is one for you. 1 go to store, 2 buy one. But you are not going to get one as good as this. Thanks for commenting and watching. Noreen : )
Noreen, I just wanted to thank you for posting this recipe! I made this for my grandfather's birthday party, as it is his favorite cake in the world, and it was a huge hit! I have never baked this particular cake before, so I was a bit intimidated by the "upside down" methodology. It turned out perfectly; the cake was light, moist and fluffy and the top fruit glaze turned out to be a beautiful golden-brown. Again, thanks for sharing! 5 out of 5 stars!!
O my gosh thank you so much for this recipe!! I made it today for thanksgiving and it came out soooo good!! I posted a photo of it on facebook and got so many compliments! and you explained it well so it was easy to do on my first try. Mine came out perfect. I especially happy since my dinner meal didnt turn out as good. I will be making this recipe again for christmas :)
@m8rox Why would you post that as a comment? If you don't want to eat something, don't eat it. If you don't like the video than don't watch it. Why would you watch a video for this cake if you didn't think it was healthy? Or am I missing your point altogether?
@m8rox But oh soo delicious and full of love! Just watching this woman make the cake and seeing the cake afterwards gave me a warm, happy feeling. Don't be a critic, there are 2 many 2day, just enjoy or don't participate.
O my gosh this is so great!! I am making this for thanksgiving. I bought the duncan hines and was confused about directions since the back of the box is very vague. You definitely cleared up my confusion. Thank you so much!! I can't wait to try it :)
coming from a pastry chef i commend you Noreen..this is how i make them myself but make my batter from scratch..have you ever tried making them in cupcake or muffin tins? when i have to cater a huge party i usually use muffin pans or make several cakes.

Hi. Suppose I dun have yellow cake mix, nor the pineapple cake mix, can you give us an alternative we can make from scratch please? Please note that cake mixes aintavailable in my country.
thank you very much Noreen, I made this cake for mother's day and shared it with all my mom friends and they loved it, it was well worth the efforts, thank u so much once again. Please continue to share such wonderful recipes!!!
Hey! I made this again for my father-in-law's birthday and he couldn't believe how good it was. He ate a slice before AND after he ate dinner lol thank you so much again! :] I want to learn more dessert and cake recipes.
I know this look great and yummy, but one thing negative that I'm going to say is don't hold the food without washing your hand...especially you touch the towel.
I made this and everyone LOVED it!! It was sooo good. As soon as I walked in with the cake everyone could smell it and asked "mmm what is that??" My husband had like 3 slices! Lol thank you so much Noreen!!!
Thanks Noreen, family and friends love your recipe. We were using the boxed instructions but we were really disappointed with the results. Your video instructions produce the perfect pineapple upside down cake.
I loved your pineapple upside down cake I made this recipe a very long time ago and loved it don't remember how it taste now all i remember is that it was good!! because it was a long time ago but you have inspired me to make one or two for thanksgiving.
Thank you Noreen for this wonderful rendition of pineapple upside down cake I love pineapples. I have a request for you . Could you make a good homemade stuffing recipe for a turkey? Having family over for the holidays and would love to make a homemade stuffing instead of the box mix this year. Thank you in advance. Love your cooking shows.
@sazara123 I did an entire Thanksgiving meal last year. Look up my videos on Thanksgiving made easy. I did a roasted chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes and gravy. I hope these help. I did them early last November, so you may have to search on my channel to find them
Did you find cherries without high fructose corn syrup? If so, where, what brand? I really miss those but can't find any without HFCS. I also cheat an use crushed pineapples so I can skip the cherries but I would prefer it your way.
@VivianRinSC Unfortunately no, my cherries have HFCS in them however, I can't make this cake without them and although I am doing my best to keep it out of my house, I will not throw this away. Sometimes we can't get away from it and until the manufacturers realize it is poison and people stop buying it, they won't change, so it is, what it is. I did however, find that Log Cabin is now making a pancake syrup without HFCS, boasts it on the lable. It is good too! Thanks so much for watching.
@atticus9799 Same here. I didn't throw out the stuff I already bought but no long buy anything with it in it. Recently saw something with High Maltose Corn Syrup. :( I also limit corn syrup due to its GMO status but not totally eliminated it.
@VivianRinSC On a whim I looked up HFCS Free Maraschino Cherries and guess what I found! Tillen Farms Merry Maraschino Cherries look them up online and buy some a jar is around $7.00 I know expensive, but consider that they are organic, corn sugar free and all natural with no crap in them, then $7.00 looks cheap! I'm buying some now!
@atticus9799 ..HI Thank u so much for such an awesome recipe i Just baked the cake, just one que. mine had a lot of syrup running after taking it out from the pan,any advice...:))
@atticus9799 ..Hi me again....i think i got the answer to my que :P,i baked another one and the last one was undercooked so thats y juice was running....next one came out perfect..............thnx again
Oh my Lord this looks so good!! Can't wait to make it! Thanks Noreen so much! I love watching your videos because your a real person with a real family and knows how it is to cook for a family with a budget! Thanks again :) yummm... Can't wait for more videos
great recipe I love the pudding trick you're right it makes it nice and rich. I throw it into traditional scratch cake recipes as well....makes a nice touch.
I love this...thank you so much..hugs from rhode island...ps. I post you on my site of 4, 400 friends on Facebook so you may get more subscribers...we love your cooking...
Oh this looks absolutely fabulous!! You make it look so easy too! Think I'll try this for my Thanksgiving dinner desert and if it works out...I'll make one for my Mothers dinner!! Thanks!
Noreen, I really like your videos and recipes:) but I think your show would be even better if we could see what you're doing (for example: when you are pouring something into a cup, when you're opening a can or when you are mixing the batter) and not only part of the pan or the inside of it in a 100% enlargement ;) to be honest it makes ones eye hurt a bit to see sth for too long in such an enlargement :)
I hope you won't get mad ;) and will treat my post as a friendly advice
Wow Noreen! I'm trading in the recipe I have used for over 40 years for yours. Thanks! Now I have to go out and buy some heavy cream to whip up to top it! LOL!
Thanks for this recipe. It looks delicious ! I will be making this next month. There are 4 birthdays in my household in the month of March. I can't wait to make it !! :DD
