Jackie Chan,Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao must be the best martial arts legends ever.No wonder they calles the three dragons. And yes i mean better then Bruce Lee in hes prime.
@elvisjimpa100 - Yes they're good, but very different from Bruce. Sammo/Jackie/Biao were movie style fighters with acrobatic skills and opera skills and did traditional Kung Fu with changes made for film choreography. Bruce was a street fighter and did his JKD. He was faster and more powerful than them, and ask Sammo...he will tell you that Bruce is his idol. But again, they are different styles, so non comparable.
@GregOBehave it dosent matter if bruce was a street fighter. That dosent make him better and jackie, sammo and yuen biao is just as real fighters as bruce. Is not such thing as your a real fighter cause you can fight on the street?thats not what martial arts is all about. And by the way jackie has faught on the street when he was a teenager and he won so please dont say that the 3 dragons just are good for movie fighting.thats not true at all.I love bruce.im a huge fan, peace.
@elvisjimpa100 - I'm afraid it does matter. Bruce was hardcore no beating about the bush. He'd kill them quickly no doubt. Even Jackie and Sammo admit that. They were in awe of Bruce's strength and speed. Of course on the day it would be down to luck too. No one is unbeatable. But saying they are better than Bruce doesn't make sense. Better how? Bruce was faster and stronger. Jackie was more pretty to watch and more flexible with acrobatic skills. They can't be compared.
@GregOBehave all the things bruce can do has jackie done too and if i think jackie is better in fighting then bruce so what?I love them both and i been a lee fan for 20 years.why cant the lee and jackie fans respect echother just as jackie and bruce did when bruce was alive?you think bruce is the best and i think jackie is the best.lets leave it like that my friend.respect and peace out.
@elvisjimpa100 - Hey, I've been a Bruce Lee fan/collector since 1984, I deal with Bruce related stuff every day. But same goes for Jackie. I am fan/collector of both. There's is no taking sides. Where did you get that idea? 'lol I was stating some facts. I said you can't compare them because their styles and strengths are so different.
Fantastic footage. I love this film just as much as the first one. And, cant wait for the 3rd that he released a teaser poster for on his website "Chinese Zodiac'. Love to see more footage like this.
@pressley151281 - hmmm, AOG 3 will be terrible. He's too old. Too many wires. Won't have the same old school dubbing and film grain. Can't see it being any good at all. But we'll see, I guess.
Likin' it, a troubled shoot resulted in a scrappy film, the choreography was no were near as good as the original, but enjoyed nonetheless. 1989, take me back please:) Jackie editing old school aswell.
If you have anyomore of this from his other films, please post:)
@TheLeonSalmon What do you mean? the action scenes in AOG2 are brilliant. i don't see any difference in quality of choreography. They are different but both great. Explain yourself further. They're different films so it's hard to compare 2 different films because of the fact that they are....different. 'lol And what do you mean by troubled shoot? All shoots outside of HK pose some sort of problems. Nothin significant about this one.
This film was famous for going well over budget mate and well behind schedule. By troubled shoot I mean some of the crew where using the fake movie money as currency and ended up in jail. Alot of the reels shot were confiscated. Hence why Jackie has never directed a project on his 'own' since then. Alot of fans agree his choreography lacked polish back in his heyday and feel Sammo Hung brought the best out in him, look at Wheels on Meals and Project A (which Sammo co-directed) compared to this.
@GregOBehave Lol, it was the locals that stole the movie money and got arrested, not the crew. Eeeee not like me to get me facts wrong. I love this film mate, I love all his films, even the unsuccessful ones. This just hasn't stood the test of time for me, unlike the first one. The fights with the monks and the amazon women still look amazing to this day, as does a lot of the stuff he made in the 80's, Police Story, Project A, Dragons Forever etc....:)
@GregOBehave It might have been some of the crew syphoning money off to the locals, one of them three.lol. It's been so long since I read about this....my god 20 years infact....
@GregOBehave from what I've heard, the shoot went on for a year, and it was plagued with a destructed set, an out-of-control budget, and death of a foreign stuntman. it was the last autonomous shoot for Jackie; the studios never liked it when he was on his own. since then there was always a director or two reigning him in. there's also the rumor that it wasn't him in the blooper in the end when he fell off the chain onto the sandpit down below, but they edited the shots to make it so.
@petelee - Cool, I didn't know that, but i can totally understand them being worried about letting Jackie be in total control of a film shoot. Imagine the amount of film they get through with all his 100s of takes to get a movement down perfect. As for that not being Jackie who falls off the chain, I'd be very disapointed if they staged it to be Jackie. It does make sense that it would be one of the stunt boys doing that leap because you don't see his face, so no need for him to do it.
@Rahman4Media - Many stunts in Jackie's films are not done by him. He uses his stunt boys and puts a wig on them. The only stunts he really does are the ones that you see his face on. If you don't see his face, it usually isn't him. That's why I think there could be some truth to what petelee is saying. You can't see his face in that fall, so why would Jackie do it? No point. But personally I think that was Jackie falling. Everything matches up.
@Rahman4Media - Yes, and I gave a good reason in my reply as to why people think it might not have been Jackie... Because you can't see his face and Jackie usually doesn't need to do stunts like that where you can't see it's him. But I agree with you, I think it was Jackie too.
@GregOBehave, I believe him because I read on a Google message board (alt.asian movies) that Chan was doubled and was pretending to be injured. One of the stuntmen from this movie had told an American action director who then posted this.
Interesting to hear the dialogue being said on set in multiple languages, since isnt it all dubbed it later by other people? I think Police Story 3 was the first Jackie Chan movie with live sound.
I'm glad they didn't use sync sound though because the films that were sync sound sounded horrible. ie: Thunderbolt/Mr Nice Guy/ Police Story 3.... The live sound wasn't recorded very well and there was loads of unwanted background noise and the dialogue was hard to make out sometimes. I prefer the sound of the dubbing. More HK styley!
Yeah, most JC films from this era were multi language on the set coz he had actors from all over the world playing. Korean, Japan, Europe, USA, you name it. But yeah, they later dub the whole lot into cantonese.
3:43 Jackie plays Super Mario Land on Game Boy!!! :D wow!!!!!

2:09 Interesting Jackie speaks English when it would be Cantonese in the film!
Your comment about sync sound is interesting. Bizarrely, they do sound a bit weird compared to the post-synced films.
It's not a favourite movie of mine, but it is different to the first (which I do like) :).
