You are very talented and it seems you are dedicated, but I think there are a few simple fixes here and there that I think a good instructor could smooth out for you and make your dances 20x better. BTW I know people are saying smile more.. but imho tribal dances best with that sexy intense seductive expression like rachel brice//zoe jakes xD

  • I am ((new)) at tribal belly dance too. I have been looking at a lot of videos of beginners, like myself. Keep it up. I read your comments and yes, they are in a sense true...but discovering that within takes time. Have patience and keep dancing please.

  • awesome dance! you make an excellent self teaching teacher! you said in your description that you want to work on you isolations: try practicing chest movements like chest circles and chest figure eights while your sitting down. it will help you separate your chest movements from your hip movements more easily, that way, when your dancing, it might make it a little easier to isolate the movement between your torso and your hips. :)

  • you r really good! i am self taught too... taken a few classes tho..... they helped me in a few areas..... posture is very important if you dont have the correct posture it can ruin the dance....... you have great moves but u look stiff in some of them...... i agree with one of the comments on here that you need to do more arm work( i know it hard too sometimes ... i have that same problem. but the arms add alot to the dance) but other than that you are really good! love the song & the end.

  • ...your shoulder blades towards the spine. This way your shoulders will go back and your chest will open. It will give you also a bit of attitude. And you should squeeze a bit your lower abs. It will prevent any spine injuries. It's especially important if you are doing a back bend. And take care of your hands, they may seem a bit stiff in a while, try doing some exercies with hands even when not dancing, it helps... ok, sorry for such a long comment. But theese were some great and necessary

  • hey :) nice job. I'm a self-taught dancer too. You can check my video on my profile. It's an old one, quite crappy, but it reminds all the time of how far i've gone. I just took a class with the amazing manca pavli and realized, that no matter how much i have learned at hom, a video can never replace a teacher. You can learn some moves, but you have to master the posture first to perform them correctly and in a non-harmfull manner. I suggest you find a teacher. Otherwise, you should move...

  • Good good good! My only suggestions would be to add some more movements and styles into your repetoir, and to lower your shoulders just a tiny bit, you look a little tense. Other than that, just lovely!

  • It's very pretty. Very tribal and earthy. Your facial expressions are fine. It adds mystique. You're pretty good to be self-taught. Have you checked out Rachel Brice and also Tempest? Where more big, chunky pieces. Kuchi bandari jewelry and belts are nice...also lots of bangels up the arms and something in your hair...a nice tribal head piece or a few hair pieces. Nice video!

  • You are ADORABLE, and so very talented. I wish I was brave enough to put my dancing in vids. The only critique I have is that you should have some body else film you so you get to move around a bit more. I bet you have great turns and traveling steps that need to be let out of this tight frame!

  • you have been practising and it shows, just one thing, try keep your closed and define your eyes, one thing in bellydance aside ffrom the dance is the eyes. its important to be able to convey a message not just through dance but also expression. for example bellydance with swords involves a drama in a sense. where the dancer gives the impression of 'oh crap i nearly dropped it' and 'i can do it and you cant haha.' i think thats one small thing to work on.

  • Wow. You're really good. You're very fluid but my comment somebody already said. Work on lowering yourself just a tad slower. Other than that you look awesome. I just started out so hopefully with practice I'll get to that point. =) You're doin great though.

  • im sorry i forgot to add this haha. with the lowering, work on lowering yourself slow, i know its hard on the quads but you'll gte used to it. you seemed to drop a little too fast when you lowered which is nothing more than working on quads. practice squats daily and lunges, it really helps that and laybacks get easier over time..i started out shaky on them and now i can do it with sword..just takes time . keep at it!!!! do a performance, it really pushes you to practice more

  • i just noticed someone said slow down..your already dancing slow and snaky...your going to the music. always dance to the music, thats good and npeople will notice if your off beat

  • hmm...any suggestions. i would say work on originality...i see influence from rachel brice and ariellah in your moves, trsut me that is very common so dont feel bad. alot of ppl are influenced by them and tahts fine but we have to be careful not to mix their signature way of moving into our own. i like the skirt under the fringe belt, good color, maybe work on more shimmies, and head movements can add a lot to a routine. good job. nice windows too haha

  • Only comment I have is see if you can get the beautiful movement into your face. You have such energy with your dancing. Show that energy in your face. I'm a cabaret dancer.. So.. I may not be the best voice for this style.

  • It's true, tribal fusion and cab are pretty different, but you are very right, facial expression is pretty important in most dance styles. Thanks for the tip! :)

  • From one beginner to another--I wouldn't try to pull off a layback or backbend until you have it have it have it. I would work on those and control with you arms a bit. I think you did a good job--it's defintly a good start. Repitiion is a common thing when you are just starting and I have no doubt you will get there. It's better than my youtube video : )

  • I like it :) If you want constructive criticism, I would say that your individual moves are good but the transitions between them are a little stiff, like it's not quite a dance yet. Also occaisionally it looks like you forget your arms (I have the same problem).

    I self-teach too so it's helpful to see others trying stuff out and what level they're at.

  • Ok darlin, here's my personal opinion: I think it looks great! Your mayas and omis and belly rolls look fantastic but honestly that's all I could pick out. I think you could vary it up a bit and I think youre lacking in the chest movements...And as a last comment, it's a daring and bold move to do a back bend so make it amazing. Draw it out and fancify it. Use it to show off, not to lean back for 2 seconds and go into more mayas...But you certainly have talent dear. You Rock!

  • You're really good, but when you lean back to the floor, tilt your head back a little more, I'm not a belly dancing expert, I'm a beginner like you, but I do a lot of other dances, and it looks to me as if you're too tense when you lean back. :D But all the rest was absolutely amazing. XD

  • Yoga, bellydancing, I do 40 crunches a night (I'll have to do more sometime soon when I'm more used to it.) And I drink water instead of pop. I also fill up on meals but try not to snack or eat when I'm not hungry, If you feel hungry, drink a glass of water because Humans confuse thirst and hunger.

  • Thats is true about how people confuse thirst and hunger. When I used to feel the random munchies I just drank water and I figured it out!! I have lost over 30 pounds! You are an amazing dancer and an amazing person! Anybody would be lucky to be your friend! I WISH I WAS!! Haa. Your videos are great and your an inspiration to me! YOU ROCK!!!

    I've been trying to bellydance for almost 2 weeks and I still look horrible at the basic egyptian step.

    Oh and I think that you look great! You can't bellydance without a belly. lol

    I don't like the bellydancers who have a totally flat stomach, it looks weird to me.

  • Thats funny because I LOVE pasta. I am actually very comfortable with my body and don't mind having a bit of a tummy, but when it comes to belly dancing, people who don't dance expect belly dancers to have flat tummies.
