  • 1 dozen nukes over 1and a half minutes of diffusion we'll just say 3.5 nuke power to be safe, so yeah, you never really looked at linear directed energy explosions before, have you? if the energy of the blast could be directed into a concentrated beam, it would have punched out the back window with no damage to the computer control in John's back

  • @DavidPennable The tower is in the center of the city. Firing it out the window will nuke the city behind it.

  • @linusorm

Hey it is me allumen , they beamed the gate from another planet and replacd the windows >D

  • how the hell did they get new windows and a new stargate????

  • EPIC!

  • @DavidPennable Also a stargate exploding, as told in SG1, can wipe out all life on a planet, so there goes your plan.

  • @DavidPennable Lets see a nuclear explosion is a few miles so about a dozen is way bigger. If the shield didn't encompass the whole gate, as soon as the explosion got bigger then the shield it would expand past it.

  • why didn't he just collapse the shield to the front of it, and blast it out of the back window?

  • @DavidPennable Because the whole gate exploded.

  • @Xershade but the yield of the blast would have been directed out the window, the shield would have created a kicker to point it out the back, the shield would hold because it's only containing a part of the explosion, think like a linear shaped charge for demolition, directed energy,

  • and also the strain from the wraith weapons which are stronger because of the ZPMS also the strain from the atmosphere and the wormhole drive took a lot of power from the ZPMS which did not leave a lot of power for the shields when atlantis got there

  • well some of you guys are right some of you are wrong well the shield in siege part 3 was able to hold all the power because the city was not been explored well and there were not a lot of systems that drained power from the ZPM now in this episode the blast was so strong that even with all the power they could not cool the emitters so the shield was there and in enemy at the gate the shield was not able to hold that much because of the trip to get here and stardrive holding atlantis in place

  • So the shield was able to hold a 3gigaton explosion for over a minute yet was ready to fail on 3 ZPMs after only a minute of superhive fire on the last ep?

  • @ColbatX07 don't forget, this explosion fried Atlantis's shield emitters. The same shield emitters that survived the Mark 10 nuclear warhead they beamed above the city in the Siege Part III. And that was being powered by just one ZPM!

  • @samusv4 I think you will find that it was much more power full than the Tsar bomb.

  • @Jackclivesim If by nukes they meant Earth's mark IX, not only was it more powerful than the Tsar Bomb, but possibly stronger than the Dino-killer asteroid (in SG-1 they also said the effect would be similar).

  • It was a side effect of the Attero Device. It was created by Janus (an ancient scientist, the same one who built the time-travelling puddlejumper) as a weapon that would only target the wraith. Specifically, it altered the "level" of subspace the wraith use for their hyperdrive travel in such a way that it ripped wraith ships apart when they tried to enter hyperspace. Unfortunately, it also caused power to build up in stargates that are activated, resulting in them exploding.

  • now if it wouldn't have been contained, it'd have been like a Tsar Bomb, and made a huge crater on the planet equal to the crater on Aegis 7 in Dead Space! :O

  • @SamusV4 Ah I remember this ep, side effect of some anti wraith device? He said the force of that explosion was equal to a dozen nuclear bombs so assuming he was talking about Tsar (being Russian and all) then that is a load of around 600 megatons, one hell of a bang indeed!

  • Agreed ^ This was awesome.

Aw hell, the whole show was awesome. I miss it.

  • i love this clip 5 stars
