I feel bad that he will never be able to get the funding, especially now since there is no cap on corporate campaign contributions. The corporatocracy put Obama in the white house, and we need to do something about these "typical politics".
Doesn't the media see how it feeds into a self-fulfilling prophecy? By sweeping Gravel and Ron Paul under the rug or writing them off, the rest of the people who count on the media for all their news neglects them as well! I wish some of these journos had more balls with their opinions.
Stephanopoulous is something of a stooge for the "wasting your vote" crowd, but MG still manages to cut through the formula interview and get his point across... Thanks for Posting
Here's my theory. He'll bullshit America all he wants in order to get elected. I know, I know, it sounds crazy. Candidates rarely do that. I'm just saying, he may talk a big talk, but won't do shit in the White House.
I know, I know. That rarely happens. Clearly he's America's only hope. Don't listen to the sane person. Go back to what you were doing.
His comments causes discomfort to the other candidates, but most of his comments need to be said to the candidates' faces. Every single polititician, including Gravel, should be humiliated a lot more than once during their political life.
What's happening is that hard-core Dominionists are slowly but surely taking control of the Libertarian Party. Ron Paul's plan to abolish public welfare and replace it with nothing plays right into the hands of the Religious Right. With no public welfare and no public education, the churches would, in theory, take over the responsibility of feeding the poor and educating the young, and we'd have a theocracy. It's chilling, but true. That's exactly what they're after.
amen to that man....its up to us to prove this snotty stephanopolous wrong....mike gravel will be our president....im ready to go broke for this man....whatever it takes mike....we wont let you down
i like the idea Gravel mentioned at the recent democratic debates. About how you would be able to serve your country not just by joining the military but in other ways like joining the peace core or other organizations that help america become great and then the govt. ie. american tax payers would pay for 4 years of college. Id rather go to school and live than join the army and die.
If they are gonna do this to Gravel then i want CNN to label Obama as,"black guy running for presidency" and Hilary as,"Disgruntled wife seeking presidency".
i also hate how this jerk off stephonopoulos tries to undermine Gravel by saying,"you seem to be having the time of your life" As if this is a movie about an old senator on one last fun filled tour of the field before he dies. This man is a serious contender for the white house and he deserves to be treated as such, with respect and dignity. CNN also does this by labeling Gravel as,"Debate upstager" instead of 08 presidential candidate.
what makes me angry is that obama has a 30min interview and 30min of "exposure" and ron paul and especially mike gravel have much less. only 7mins? thats insane and unfair. So unfair.
I have a hard time understanding how someone could vote for Ron Paul. I know he's charismatic, but he wants to ABOLISH the Department of Education (not to mention welfare, the IRS and everything else). Can you imagine the disasters that will cause?
You obviously have no idea about how the department of education operates. They standardize everything, and the companies that contract with the government are the same ones deciding what the standards will be. (continued...)
. They implement crap like No Child Left Behind in which students have to regularly take standardized tests, and it limits what teachers can teach, since they have to prepare their students for a test that is designed with corporate profit in mind. And it is the taxpayer who is funding these programs, while the corporations take profits, and the education system goes down the drain.
Nevertheless Ron Paul's plan is not to reform the DOE, but to abolish it altogether and replace it with nothing. I can't help feeling that without any kind of oversight beyond the state and local level, education in this country would be a thing of the past.
My mother and all my uncles are teachers; I know something of how school districts operate, and I have no doubt that education could not function without the DOE.
Abolishing the Department of Education would essentially force individual school districts to fend for themselves educationally. There would be no standards imposed on their performance and no oversight when they do a poor job, to say nothing of the loss of funding that would be incurred. It would be a disaster.
And that's not even getting into welfare. Reforming welfare would be a good idea, but what would happen to the millions of Americans who depend on it if it were suddenly abolished altogether and replaced with nothing? We'd have a huge increase in poverty. We'd have mass STARVATION. Anyone can see that. You'd have to be a maniac to support such a plan, which is how I can scarcely imagine how an intelligent person could side with Ron Paul.
I mean if you're against greedy corporations as your messages suggest, imagine what it would be like if there were no welfare, no department of education, no EPA, almost no government at all. Our society would be pure capitalism, no government control, everything in the power of the corporations. Is that really the kind of future you want?
Both this and Stephanopoulos's interview with Ron Paul are quite good; also, they supply each candidate with ample "mainstream" exposure. If only George weren't so bold in his declaration that neither run will possibly win...
omg i hate that Stephanopoulos guy.. i wanna punch him in the face
