what song are you listening to? This aint happy, friend. james mercer rarely writes happy songs. his songs often times, reference existential ideas, being trapped, lost, confused etc... There is a reason why Natalie said this band would change your life, in a film about being lost and confused and trapped. The chorus is the best description of being in your twenties i have seen, and the last stanza sums up the pains of growing up. this is a sad song about being lost

Being in my twenties myself, perhaps that is why I enjoy their sweet melodic tones so much. I certainly can relate to the pit of existentialistic hole that one can dig oneself into. It's vvery difficult to escape once inside. A lot of their songs seem to be geared in that mindset. Young Pilgrims and a lot on chutes too narrow.
