It's like John picks up in "Johnny kick a hole in the sky" where Hillel left off with "Backwoods". I just have a feeling this was inspired partially by that.
@johnsnewaccount whatever dude, im white anyway. plus im atheist. point is natives are/were living the right way (as any animal) and didn't think the world was made for man 2 rule and conquer. the white man showed up and told them that they were living the wrong way and that they knew the one true way to live and forced them 2 live like them or die
Claypool and Flea both kick some serious ass. They have two different, very distinct styles that really don't lend themselves to comparison. They are two of the best at what they do.
@XrisikosTonPernei666 Hiya. The song is basically about the plight of the native american indian, how we (americans) descimated their race, and how we portray native americans inaccurately our history books. He is asking people to stand up and protest to the government regarding thier harsh treatment as well as telling people to stop putting the US on a pedestal. We are a nation born on blood, like so many others.
pure funk so funky it sticks to your shoe that funk thats so funky it dont stink it just smells funk like that good funk that your ex girlfriend's brother used to used to get thats the real funk
I am surprised this album didnt bring them into the mainstream when it was made, yea i know the following album got them there BSSM but i mean... well u know wat i mean lol
I know, back in the old days Flea was freaking FAST (see: Machine gun bass flea) but Claypool uses his speed/quickiness in nearly every song so people who think flea sucks/isn't fast because of a lot of RHCP songs they have heard are horribly mistaken. To really see him shine the brightest you gotta listen to old school RHCP from the 80s or watch live vids of him improving.

This reminds me of my little flat at Broadmeadow. The cds I borrowed from the city library and danced to alone at home.

I agree with Arivak. This is one of the best songs from the RHCP's album Mother's milk.
veturlidi 3 years ago 2
this is one of the oldies, it's incredible that stills rockin' and so current...I don't know too much bands that can achieve this.
Arivak 4 years ago 9
good song, the bass really defines this one in my opinion. Flea isn't my favorite bassist, but he still has a unique style that is cool.
JesssDebaser 4 years ago 10
very big +1 from me. A lot of people will hate on flea because he isn't as fast ro crazy as claypool or other bassists.
He is so damned unique I could recognize him so easily in anything he might play. He kind of defines the pop-slap bass style to me.
Squal537 2 years ago 8
Oh, he's as fast as Claypool. Look up Flea Jam #4 or something like that.
