I'm diggin the metal mouthpiece on the alto. its demanding attention but without all the brash raspy sound of a hard rubber. even as he gets louder his tone is still pure. another person how has that sort of thing going on is paquito de rivera.
@JustJD08 pieces are really personal, but I think the design of the piece has more to do with it than the material. and I do personally like rubber on Alto, the profile feels better. A quick question though who sounds brash and raspy on rubber, that sounds more like the baffle is more high, and the dude is growling.
Roy hargrove is by far the best flugal horn and trumpet player ever. Iknow wynton has more technique but roy is still so much better anyway. Best tone quality of anyone who ever lived .
@Glockyia i dunno about that one. wynton is waaaay more than technique. nobody plays the history of trumpet like him and he can play anything. no discredit to roy but better than wynton? i dunno about that one
justin robinson, he repeats the same ii-V-i progression at least 3 times ... that usually means he aint quite down with the chord sequence or key yet ...
his sound is nothing like cannonball...it doesn't have the round fluffiness...instead its like blaring electronic. again his ideas and vocab are nasty good, i just think the sound its not great
so nice to sense it from that audience perpective. I'm so glad these great are cool with these youtube clips, as if they need to depend on record sales. Let the chavs destroy the girl/boy band shit they create on the charts!! Let great music rise up! Keep music live!!!
thank you, for being a personal recording this is really good with decent sound quality. good enough to lift roys solo. you know what that first song was called?
I love the sound of this tune, anyone know what its called?

Yeah, the metal mouthpiece thing is a sax specific battle. I agree, I don't like metal mouthpieces on Alto. It is just too harsh sounding usually

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This alto player plays too many be-bop cliches. he needs to get out of his head and into the music.

Yeah, he's got some good ideas but I'm definitely not diggin the metal mouthpiece. It's just so harsh. Not my cup of tea.
