the point of marina ismail was all about her ideology of peace,not only in the middle east but in the world and in space. she trying to understand people and wishing for everyone to understand their each other without fight. that also was the main point of the movie, understanding between humans and aliens (ELS).
I actually like Marina, but I do agree she was somewhat of a useless character. It would have been nice to see her develope into a more proactive female character.
I agree about the action scenes; it felt as though everything was going so fast I didn't have time to react.
Also was anyone else horrified with the Billy/Mehna pairing? I really wanted him to be with Sumeragi.
The epilogue was a disappontment. But I loved Kati/Patrick. <3
Thank you for your thoughts, I just watched the movie n saw Guiltaur's review and I enjoyed it alot. While Marina isn't as assertive as Relena is I like her more because she is more interesting and challenges Setsuna more because she is different. The more I remember stuff from Wing, Relena and Heero have more in common. But this movie and series is some of the best Gundam has to offer right with the UC series/Wing/SEED. I will definitely buy the blu-ray and watch again for a deeper understandi

Yeah, After watching this movie 3 times now. I'm glad to see that I am not the only person sharing these same ideas. And yeah, I don't really like Marina much either.
The sudden crush between Feldt and Setsuna fucking confused me too. And the fact that Setsuna didn't even begin to think about it just kind of shows how Setsuna is lacking as a character. I mean he was never much for girls in both seasons of the TV show but man, I really think they could have done better with this movie.

The comparison of Marina and Heero is hilarious. I think that one of the major issues of the movie is definitely a lack of development of the Meisters and the lack of an epilogue for them at the end of the story.
