  • There should be a cult for the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.

  • Hey you guys God I love this song one of my all time favorites NO DOUBT. Toad The Wet Sprocket wrote so many memorable and great songs. I would love to see them live someday I heard they are going on tour. Is this true? I stronglly agree a beautiful song like this doesn't need a music video.

  • PS, I'm old school: if it wasn't for the seasons of character building for Sarah's character..sarah michelle geller's "buffy" doesn't compare to kristy swason's "buffy :P

  • thumbs up if you found this song because you re-watched buffy

  • Why is this not their most popular song? Really... it's their best, even if it was on a soundtrack.

  • This song will always remind me of my father. He used to play it all the time when I was little. I'm fifteen now and to this day it's my favorite song. I think it always will be. Some songs never leave you, they mean too much to ever forget.

  • For me, the song's about knowing that fire and unwanted change will come in one's life, but also knowing that, in some way, those negative things will be a benefit. And also, fire isn't the end of the world, or just for the faithless ones; it just comes (and goes).

  • Beautiful song. Love it!!!

  • Yeah its from the dance scene.

Wish I understood what it means, but it surely moves me.

  • Good Song!!

  • Loved this song since it came out in Buffy... :D

  • I'm guessing the songs about Love hitting you whether you're looking for it or not, just as long as you believe in it's possibility.

  • for those wondering about meaning, i think you have to have a fair idea of what big heaven is. little heaven is having a piece of it here. It's obviously not the whole experience but it shares elements - no doubts, no regrets, no enemies. "delicately balancing a perfect world." You accept and come to terms as you "ride these waves of doubt," but you "exhale cinamon clouds. All that is wrong is tranformed.

  • I always loved Toad. They can invoke emotion unlike any other band.

  • They should of put this on the Dulcinea album. Great song

  • Beautiful song

  • I always enjoyed this song, although until now I didn't know who it was, there was a novel that takes place after this film and before the pilot of the TV series that explains what happened to Pike, they go to Vegas and run into more vampires, more stuff happens, with Pike and Buffy parting ways. Than Joyce tells Buffy they are moving when her parents decide to divorce. Pike does return later though, I believe in a novel that takes place between Season 2 and Season 3. And in the S8 comics

  • Its funny how everybody (including me) thinks of Buffy for this song...sometimes we are all too much alike in the most uncommon ways yea???

  • there was a time when I was in H.S. when I considered Toad my favorite band :) these guys are timeless and awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats right! the buffy @ the dance with pike scene! classic!

  • From what I can gather, it seems to portray a message of inevitable change.

The change that comes naturally, and not because a God said it would. Not because it is needed. Not because of a reckoning. Not to cleanse the world of evil.

No, it comes for it is a cleansing of new. It comes to keep life unique and not a prediction. Life is not set in stone. Life will change, be it by fire, by plague, by genocide, by waves.

Despite beliefs, accepting this bitter truth will give us a little heaven.

  • I wonder if I'm the only one who gets choked up when I listen to this song? I was going to make it our first dance at my wedding but I was worried I would start crying like a big pussy, so we choose all I want is you by U2 equally as romantic without the tear jerk

  • I'll tell you somethin else 2, Toad the wet sprocket is a really good band

  • I mostly listen to hip hop, like real, underground, talented dirty hip hop, and I love this song

  • either I am pms'n/hormonal or that is the most beautiful song EVER~~~~!!!

  • This song is

    A m a z i n g!

I've loved it since it was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in my youth....

Thanks for keeping it alive <3

  • After pondering the lyrics a bit more I think it is about Vietnam, or just war and the hope of things getting better but change will come like it or not, good or bad.

  • Great song! I think this song is about ending one relationship and finding another but unsure if you should take the chance again know how good it could be and knowing how hard if it ends. That's just what I get from this tune. Thanks for posting this great TTWS song! =)

  • Buffy + Pike = <3

  • I love this song. Possibly the best song ever made.

  • great ethereal vibe to this tune. harmonies and backing vocals put it over the top. it's a...little heaven

  • miss these guys there music is so good

  • Yay Buffy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It never gets old. Ever.

  • Just saw Toad The Wet Sprocket this week in Vail and Aspen, they played this song, it was amazing. Right after the show Glen Phillips talked to everyone who wanted to say something. He is a class act, along with the rest of the band.

  • Awesome song. I'd forgotten how great it made me feel. Thanks for the reminder:)

  • Fuckin luv! Glen. I put him really high on my list of greats! He is phenominal!!!!! Love you Glen! Come back to "Anna's" on the islands!

  • I saw these people opening for Hootie in Raleigh many years ago. Bunch of estrogen-infused punks...

  • It's the perfect time with that special person and finding peace within it.

  • So what if some of us found out about this song and this band because of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's a classic!

  • any way you find toad is awesome.

  • I always listened to this when I saw the movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer....very pretty song!

  • deeper deepest songs feel

  • Thank you pinkpassionalize for posting this video, and I did enjoy it. The song is quite amazing.

  • Toad is an excellent band, one of my favorites, I really think if they have had a better manager or marketing campaing the could have been very well know worldwide

  • ttws is world class very underestimated band

  • buffy made me love this song even more

  • Cinnamon is symbolic for: Spirituality, Success, Healing, Power, Psychic Powers, Lust Protection, Love.

I don't think that artists always understand what they are writing - creativity is a gift from God.

  • I wish this song wasn't associated with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Whenever a good quality song is in a commercial or played on a tv show, it just kind of ruins it for me. I still love this regardless

  • Who cares? Geez. You sound like one of those bitches who complain when your music becomes popular or well known. "Time to go find some other abstract, unknown artist so I can differentiate myself from the crowd". Get over it. I'm glad this was in Buffy, otherwise I'd of missed out on a great tune.

  • I hate it because the song becomes associated with whatever they're trying to sell in the commercial. I can't listen to Sweet Home Alabama without thinking of KFC. I like what I like, I'm not a music snob. I don't deliberately go looking for obscure bands. And please kill me now, or anyone else, because they happen to like something thats not mainstream. You don't have to call me a bitch, everyones entitled to their opinion, no need to get offensive.

  • Alright, I apologize for calling you a bitch. It was a "in the moment" thing. But I don't think like that. When I hear this song, I don't think about Buffy. I think of the girl I like, despite me hearing originally on Buffy. So, it being on Buffy did nothing other than introduce me to the song. From there, I gave it it's own attributes.

  • Its cuz lil pussy ass posuers (who would not normally give the band the time of day if it was not on a movie, game, show ect.) will act like they are fans when they really aren't.

  • Wow? Are you a fucking retard? I ask this because you don't know me, so how the FUCK do you know what I listen to, you fucking cunt? You don't know SHIT about me, so shut your god damn mouth & put it to good use, around your dad's cock. Fuck off. I don't want to be a fan of this band if all their fans are whiny ass cunts who bitch cause a band they liked was featured in a movie. I'm willing to bet that you discovered a band you like from a movie. I'm willin to bet everyone on here has.

  • I don't like this song or movie. I could care less. I just randomly look at songs on the net. Plus, I ain't whing, you are. Crying like a lil bitch over the fact that I have exposed you as a bitch who thinks that that false fans are fans when they aren't.

  • Then good! Seeing how you don't like the song or movie, this just means your a damn internet troll! Did your parents not love you enough? Is this why you feel the need to start fights that were settled over a month ago? Did mommy and daddy not pay enough attention to you? Get the fuck out, you fucking troll. You haven't exposed shit. And by the way, can you read? Or did your teacher neglect you also? I NEVER SAID I WAS A FAN, YOU FUCKHEAD. I NEVER SAID I WAS A FAN. I NEVER SAID I WAS A FAN.

  • How am I a troll?

  • kristy swanson's gothick masterpiece buffy the vampire slayer first opened 31 july 1992...so buffy the movie 1992 is sweet 17! happy birthday buffy!

  • Buffy the vampire slayer was a great movie (also the show i might add), and this song is awsome.

  • Essa música toca lá no fundo,é muito boa!!

  • I am 44 and this is one of my favorite songs of my entire life...i was far away in the army when I saw buffy the vampie movie in 1992 ...am a hardened paratrooper silently wept during this scene...i take vacation every halloween week and play movie and soundtrack often love -milwaukee

  • @rocketshipstud2 I am about the same age. This scene had same affect on me. It was a pure and powerful moment. The kind of moment we have only a few times in our lives. I love this one.

  • @rocketshipstud2 One of my favorite movies and memories too. Thank you for what you do.

  • bad ass jam!

  • This album, even though written in the late 90s seems to be going back to their roots and not as much mainstream stuff that they wrote in the early 90s. These songs along with the album Dulcinea is really raw. I like these songs a lot.

  • Very nice song. Thanks for posting it. Regards from Mexico

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I remember so sweetly this song.. 1992... Summer... My then gf Jenni and I... 'watching' Buffy the Vampire Slayer at the theatre... the taste of her tongue as this song began to play was like a 'little heaven'...

  • one of the better lyricist of the time. the words can be interpreted however the listen wants. very deep words. as were many of their songs. great band from the 90's. wonder what they would sound like today?

  • They're actually touring right now I think, they're not really "together" tho. Glen Phillips is doing some solo stuff. It's not as nice as his original Toad stuff but it's still worth listening to.

  • thank you for the information. love your screenname by the way.

  • ha, thanks

  • Make that All In All. Typo, sorry!

  • I don't know if this is a Christian band, but they are surely mystics... this song is excellent.

It is about God being all and all - change comes no matter what we do, and the fire comes because the fire must - not because of the end of days or the faithless ones. But because fire reduces everything to the basic element, carbon, and it makes pure - like refining the dross from gold.

  • They're not a Christian band. I have all of their albums

  • Comment removed

  • They're not Christian (and Glen's religion is

    Reformed Judaisim?)

But if that's what you see in it, Great!

I'm very glad music gives us an opportunity to be truly unguarded about what touches us. I'm Catholic and I've always loved Toad since I first heard one of their songs on the radio circa 1995. I'm 20 now lol. Still a fan. So if someone wants to burst someone else's bubble, well. Best of luck to you.

  • what is this song about? can anyone tell me?

  • Ahhh so BEAUTIFUL. One of the most underrated songs. It's pure poetry. LITERALLY. This works as a poem as well. LOVE IT.

  • Toad The Wet Sprocket are underrated period.

  • I love this song so much, so romantic & sad *sigh*

  • Knowing what movie this was from I'd say this song is about being in love during what really are the worst of times. If anyone remembers the movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer the world was being taken over by vampires when Buffy decides to go to the prom in the midst of all this. Aside from the mayhem being caused by all the vampires buffy and pike manage to have this brief perfect moment. There is also imagery of purifying the earth.

  • my wife and i have been seperated for 6 months, i miss her so much. The smell of her hair, the taste of her kiss. This song makes me think of my mindy!

  • I love this song, I have been singing this song, every day for the past, month or so.

  • do anyone have any videos where they are performing this song live? omg, it would be great

  • This Buffy soundtrack was the reason why I began to fall in love with Alterna Rock in the 90s. This is one of my favorite all time songs. "Not for vision understood, burns because it has to burn. Change'll happen whether we are still or moving." I justlove these lyrics! The movie! And everything about Buffy.

  • Oh definitely. One of the more poetic songs on the 90's and one of the most underrated.

  • Quantum entanglement my friends.

  • great song!

  • great song...i think this was written for that scene on the dance floor between luke perry and kristi swanson...sounds like a deep song..anybody have an idea what this song is about?

  • i would like to know the same thing, i love this song but i dont get the meaning of it.

im guessing the song kinda fits in with the movie.

  • i think the songs about the natural progression of life and all of its doubt a fears that we all share.

  • @pinkpassionalize me either...but it sure is BEAUTIFUL

  • @pinkpassionalize for some reason I remember something about Glen being inspired by eastern philosophy, more precisely Buddhism...it could be just my interpretation, but I have found hints of Buddhist type ideas in his other songs especially All in All...anyone who practices mindfulness meditation would understand...and Little Heaven seems to echo the type of feelings that one gets while meditating

  • @MoDeeSeventyThree How about 'Throw It All Away'? I get major Buddhist vibes from that song.

  • @Gaawachan I had to go back to check that one out, I never really listened to the lyrics....totally Buddhist type thinking....awesome

  • My guess, it's about drugs

    "You will exhale cinnamon clouds"

Maybe the "faithless ones" are ones who don't use drugs??

  • IMO, Little Heaven is about the end of the way the world is now, armageddon if you will, how it is an inevitability. It's not by a divine will or punishment unto those without faith, but just purifying the world so a new one may begin, a better world. a 'little heaven'.

In the perfect world he has gained this knowledge and feels older for it, he knows mankind cannot repeat their fighting and arguments, so he must change what he can and pray hope will not dissapear.

  • My guess is TTWS just happened on to this during a practice session and just strung words of a general theme together to follow the melody. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. It worked, imo. Realization, tribulations, fate, futility, regret, satisfaction, introspection, faith, acceptance, finding one's center. It's all there in the lyrics. Life...in 4 minutes and 27 seconds.

  • @mills9lane hmm..i think it's about that moment when you realize that fate plays in integral part of life and there is so much you have no control over, and so much that happens for its own sake and not because of anything you did or didn't do, and you're simply at life's whims. and the feeling is like being drowned in a tidal wave, but at the same time, you can ride the wave. so it' the moment of acceptance of the inevitability of painful events....and realizing you can only do what you can.

  • @mills9lane This came out before buffy did I think. It sounds like they are trying to make a little bit of heaven on earth, hoping and praying for a better world, or something to that effect. :)

  • @mills9lane wonder if it was written just for the movie :) sounds like a song, about holding on to hope when things around you are going crazy, kinda like that movie :)
