This is what happens when corporations are allowed to interfere with creative artists. Will Wright, the guy who gave us Simcity, SimEarth, SimLife and The Sims, was forced to compromise on Spore until it became the cutesy, pointless piece of crap EA has foisted on the gaming community. Where we could've had a deep, challenging, complex software toy, the corporate morons from EA decided that gamers were as stupid as they were, and this is the result.

I still love 'new' spore but at times I wished deeply that it could be more realistic.

The game is multiplayer, you're playing it by yourself... it's just that the game downloads other user created content and puts it in your game to interact with, so even if a player decides to completely destroy another player's city, the player's original city will stay intact in his original game... but I bet he won't be happy when he hears about what other people are doing with his creations... lol..

Like most Maxis games, the goal of this game is very open ended. When you get to the space stage, you could establish alliances and form a federation, or you could wage war against entire civilizations. Make volcanoes, drown cities, cross-breed with an alien race maybe. Its practically a huge sandbox for you to play in.

It seems like if you get in a battle with another planet, and they destroyed your planet, that it's always a good idea to inhabit a different planet, to keep fighting until your enemy is dead. Then You can piss on their graves as revenge!

I love how it downloads other players' creations, but puts it in your single player mode. So if he destroyed your planet just there in HIS game, it would not affect yours, but your race will be injected into many other players' experiences. Such a good idea, PLUS it is available on the Mac! YAY!

Don't worry. The creatures are first processed through the database,rated and then extracted to other players games, so any inappropiate content made with the creature editor will be deleted.
