well it's an aquired taste...hard to explain..some smell it and won't even dare taste it..what's annoying is that some people on TV cooking shows say that a product called Marmite is the Aussie spread..this is untrue...Marmite is an inferior British spread, (thin and weak) and is an insult to an Australian Vegemite lover!!!

no it tastes nothing like Marmite..even though I am biased..Marmite is syrup like, and sweeter..Vegemite has the consistancy of thick peanut butter..tastes salt, yeast and well..hard to explain..pudgent....makes a good hot drink too..heaped teaspoon in boiling water..lot's of pepper..for those cold nights.mmmmm :)
