At around 51 seconds you can see him standing up on the box. The pipe is above his head, the pipe is high enough that being able to grab the pipe would be more impressive than jumping on the box.

What is wrong with you people? He can get up there because he brings his legs up and his arms down at the peak, maximizing his jump height while being able to land on the box. He actually probably jumps about 2.5 to 3 feet off the ground, but good form can get you on a platform about your height.
