When will be that the world public opinion will know that Fidel Castro is dead and that another Fidel Castro, a double one, is in Cuba? Believe or not, but that is the true!!!!!! 2011
• To those of you who have no side on Cuba; If you are a freedom loving person then you may read all the lies about Cuba and believed them. I would ask that you please don't. I have visited the Island several times. There I found what the nature of freedom is: You can't have the freedom "to" if you don't have the freedom "from". You want to do whatever, say whatever, and explore whatever you want. But it's hard to do that if you're not free from hunger, disease, injury and ignorance (continued.
• ...Thats is one of the goals of socialism. To take the value created by industries in any given nation and put to collective use for all in said same nation such as food rationing, free medical care, and free schools (at all levels). For if a person is homeless, hungry, injured, contracted pneumonia, and is uneducated then what good is the freedom "to"? This is exactly what Cuba is trying to achieve. The problem is the embargo. It's putting the building of socialism through a hindered pace.
Fidel is not a dictator. Dictators don't teach the poor literacy. Dictators don't arm the people from the threat of invasion. Dictators don't provide free medical care. Dictators don't ration the food products among the people. Dictators don't cut off diplomatic ties with Israel over the mistreatment of Palestinians. Dictators don't organize teams of doctors to go and provide free medical care to the poor in third world countries. If Castro is a Dictator then he is the strangest one there is.
A diabolical man. A tyrant and anti-democratic man. Castro hates the Cuban people and has shown it for 52 long years. He probably has charisma, but no heart, neither brain to do good. His only accomplishment has been the destruction he has caused to the beautiful Cuba, to the people of that nation. The cruelest control of a man over the lives of every citizen, every sector, institution and moment, but that control has been exercised for destruction and to cause pain. A miserable human being.
to Soulflytribe04, yes I've heard of Hugo Chavez & he's a great president that was democratically elected & is loved by his people, he's a leader of the proletariat like Fidel Castro. Castro was Cuba's "president" for 49 years, if he was so bad he would've been ousted like Lenin. Stalin slaughtered Lenin's bolshevik party, Stalin hated the communist party, bureacracy & fascism, Lenin was the monster Stalin was a hero & a great allie to the United States.
When our puppet dictators don't comply, what do we do ? We kill them or try to. Let's see, how many assassination attempts has there been on Castro? At least 8, he has survived a counter-revolutionary attack, the missile crisis, the fall of the Soviets, embargos, that's amazing, Castro has succeeded in making a monkey out of virtually every US President. You got to hand it to Castro & Che for being the 2 bravest men of the 20 century, those guys were true rebels that lived dangerously.
US Imperialism is ruthless, hypocritical, & corrupt to the bone, worse than all Communist Regimes put together, we dictate to other nations how to run their show when we Americans don't have the perfect system, we try to destroy other countries both economically & politically that disagree with us. We install puppet dictators to do our bidding to protect our interests such as Chile, Argentina, Cuba (before Castro), Iraq, the US wants to run the world like Nazi Germany tried to do.
@Soulflytribe04 How many countries has the US invaded in the last 100 years? Who was the first nation to use the atomic bomb? Which government has controlling interest in the IMF? What was the ratio of dead American and Vietcong soldiers in that 10 year war? I do not politically agree with FARC, they have turned into thugs which is something no real genuine socialist gurilla group should become. Hugo Chaves's brand of socialism is not proleterian enough but surely he's no Stalin.
Saludos, acabaste con eso, ahora si hay que irse a trabajar pa comprar el pan y la mantequilla,y cuidado con la casa y el mortgage que se te acaba la fantasia y te quedas sin casa tambien,LOL.
@vrs195927 stop bashing on gringos what is your envy about gringos,if your latinoamericans indian countries don't go ahead in life is because the presidents you place in power are corrupt, crooked do not blame USA for your problems, you don't like it get back to your corrupt country.
Are you saying the US government is not corrupt? Those latin american indios didn't place those corrupt politicians in power, their respective ruling classes did- much as the US politicians do as well. And they are completely justified in blaming the US for their problems. They are the ones who cause the third world debt that forces the hispanic nation's ruling classes to bring about the poverty to the workers and farmers.
Listen to you ,telling me to get back to my corrupt country, the planet is nobody's i live wherever i please, the you killed most natives in your country, you pollute and destroy natural resources, you are not only the most corrupt country in the world ,but you kill your own presidents, you've done so much wrong in the planet that now you have to deal with terrorism, you stick your nose in every country's internal affairs and try to change their ways of life, now your healthcare system is a chaos,
@vrs195927 We stick our noses in every country's business because is our responsibility for us to do because USA is a world leader and we help whoever ask for help, thing that no other country do specially those in south america that all they do is set dictators in power and still their country's national treasures.OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE THE TRUTH!
"the classes and the races too weak to master the new conditions of life must give way .. they must perish in the revolutionary holocaust".-karal marx
1. China is now a capitalist country. As a new kid on the block In a global economy where the US is the fulcrum will they support Cuba or the US? Answers on a postage stamp.
2. The US health system is fine for those who can afford it. It's free in Cuba, so which Cuban doctors have you been bribing?
3. Candians I know hate yanks but like Cubans, but Canada's capitalist too.
1. China is still a major ally of Cuba because they are both authoritarian states.
2. Cuba is short on the most basic medical supplies. People are given medical treatment in the US if they can't afford it but since over 60% of the US is middle class, most can.
3. wrong
4. Many Republicans are against gay marriage, but have not campaigned to have gays imprisoned or to prevent them from publicly declaring their sexual status.
Sucide anywhere in the world is a tragedy, but WHO data seems very old and what it shows is that first world countries such as Austria, Belguim, Finland, Hungary, Japan and Luxembourg are in a similar range. Perhaps if the US ended its illegal blockade of Cuba, Cubans could wipe their a**es and a lot more besides!
oh, so is the US the only country that makes toilet paper? All the toilet paper I get is made in China, which is an ally of Cuba. Why can't Cuba get toilet paper from there? Or better yet, why can't they produce it in Cuba? Toilet paper is a relatively simple product to make. Because they can't pay for it thanks to Castro's horrible economic planning.
and last time I checked WHO data was fairly up to date.
This is how Fidel Castro ran his dictatorship. He would speak to the people & introduce a policy, he would tell the people what his intentions are & then he would ASK the people if this is what they wanted, he would seek there approval. A peoples democracy, a government of the people for the people & by the people. A people government & not corporate government. The people are the jury & government all in one. A very efficient system. Saves a lot of time.
Before the revolution, 40% of Cubans could not read or write & only 30,000 to 40,000 Cubans had university degrees, today more than 700,000 Cubans have university degrees & that includes even the prositutes & there is less prostitution in Cuba today than there was under Batista. Some of the great achievements of the revolution.
actually, according to a UN report in 1957, 80% of Cubans could read and write and the country had one of the best education systems in Latin America.
Also, there is a ton of prostitution in Cuba today because many women, incuding the well educated feel the need to prostitute themselves out because their $20 a month salary is insufficient to care for their families.
Like most stories about Fidel Castro, this is inaccurate. Castro did not want to spread revolution to the rest of Latin America, that was Guevara. Fidel was made to tow the USSR line and keep the revolution in check. Cubans don't have material wealth, they never did under the US puppet Batista either. They have, however, one of the best welfare systems in the world. And you know what? Most of them are happy. More than you can say about many US citizens, let the Cuban malcontents join them!
hmm, the suicide rate in Cuba has nearly doubled since Castro took over. It is a lot higher than that of the US. And the "welfare system" can't even provide Cuban citizens with sufficient amounts of toilet paper. Right now, many Cubans are using old newspapers to wipe their a** thanks to the wonderful welfare state.
Castro considered himself a dictator of the people ( the proletariat ), Quote from Castro, " I'm a slave to my people, that's what I am". So who's being kept Castro or the people?
All the comments about Cubans fleeing & trying to escape, in 1980 a group of Cubans wanted to leave the island thru the Peruvian embassy, soon thousands joined & as Castro's image was declining, Castro made a public announcement... "if they want to leave they are free to leave", Castro emptied all his jails & released & shipped off 125,000 Cubans & put them on a boat to America.
America is the only nation that allows citizens the right to bear arms as stated in the constitution. Everywhere else guns are illegal, such as Canada, England etc. And their capitalist nations, if hundreds & thousands of people unite, are you going to kill all of them? Even with the military.
actually winggullseagull we do have guns in canada you just need to get a hunting license to own a gun here...you cant just go and buy a gun here unless you have a license which makes sure you are fit to own and operate a gun, its as it should be.
To Livingrevolutionary, yes your right Hitler always spoke to his people about every agenda, he started out doing a good thing & was a righteous leader. Germany was the first nation to rebound from the depression before the US, but it went to his head & he believed the Germans were superior & adopted this "master race" mentality & became drunk with power & wanted a peace of the whole world. Then Hitler & his Nazi's had a little problem with Stalin & the Red Army. Wouldn't you say so?
There's a reason why he always wore that same revolutionary uniform which became a symbolic trademark of Fidel Castro. It's to remind the Cuban people how significant the revolution was & still is. 1959 was the year of the historical liberation for Cuba & Castro never wants the people to forget what he's done for them.
Castro never lost faith in his revolutionary idealism. That stayed with him his whole life. He never became another Batista & he always spoke to the people about every agenda thru his entire dictatorship. I can't recall seeing Saddam Hussein even once speaking to his people about anything. Castro certainly didn't want his people to forget the revolution & how important it was in setting Cuba & all it's people free.
Castro lied from the beginning. He said he wasn't a communist and then he said he had always been one. And you're right, he wasn't like Batista. He was much, much worse. And by the way, speaking to a crowd after you take away their guns and their freedom of free speech and association is nothing to be celebrated.
really? so you would say that the new capitalist reforms in Cuba that Castro put in place (including allowing foreign investment and hotels) is in tune with his revolutioanry ideals. I seem to remember that batista is always criticized for turning cuba into a whorehouse, yet prostitution is pretty rampant in Cuba. and let me remind you that Hitler also spoke this people about nearly every agenda in his dictatorship. TThe Cuban people are beginning to see that the Revolution has failed them.
the sultan should look into the definition of autocrackhead . el lacaio del imprialismo sovietico somente por una birra com los yankes put his people at the mercy of misery.
As an American I want to say sorry on behalf of my fellow Americans to the Cuban people. Knowing that not all Americans agree with my Marxist Ideology. We were wrong & Castro was right & Castro never stole from us. Cuba has every right to blame the US for the embargo & the blockade which should've never happened. The cold war should've never happened & our president JFK should've never been shot because had he lived we would all be living in a much better world than we are today.
Sorry , I'm not buying it, a totalitarian dictactor doesn't last for half a century. If Castro was just out for himself & wanted wealth he would've complied with the US & the Mafia just like Batista had done. He was only in power for 6 years until Castro overthrew him. Castro believed in his Marxist Ideology & said NO to the Americans & ran Batista & the gangsters out of Cuba to lead Cuba in a new direction.
Allow me to add to your defense of Castro, winggullseagull. When the soviets fell and no longer bankrolled the island, many in the Miamimafia thought that the fall of Cuba was near. These people thought that what happened in Granada in '82 would happen there; that there would be a debilitating revolt and the US military would swing in and cast the final blow. It's been 18 years and it still hasn't happened. Lets not forget that Cuba is 90 miles away from here. An invasion would have been easy.
Castro placed people to report on their neighbors on each block. School children were taught there is no God, but rather that Castro is god and they are encouraged to turn in their own parents. Castro punished all who did not agree with him; they're called political prisoners. In Cuba today there is no freedom of the press, of association, of religion, no unions allowed, and of course, no freedom of speech. To say that the people are in charge in the hellish island is criminal and a lie
They do however have free education, free housing, free health care, and everybody is on equal footing, including women, gays, minorities, etc. They are crippled by a trade embargo that prevents them from trading with the biggest country in the world or anyone associated with the U.S.
Cuba is not the all or nothing hellhole you seem to think it is. And by looking at you own country, you'd realize that yours is far from perfect as well. Cuba will mature with age.
It's the same with all communist countries. They've all been placed on embargos, which leaves them with no choice but to accept poverty, or sell their soul to capitalism.
gays, LOL. Castro had many gays imprisoned and tortured because he thought homosexuality was a "byproduct of capitalism."
health care is not free because if you want decent and timely health care, you have to bribe the doctor (on a $15 a month salary).
and by the way, Cuba's biggest trading partner, Canada, is also the US's biggest trading partner. So much for not being able to trade with anyone "associated with the US"
do some research, stupid. Communism in Cuba will soon be history.
The trade embargo restricts medicine and medical equipment from the U.S. or any U.S.-owned company abroad, meaning that Cubans cannot get everything they need. They are reduced to outdated products in hospitals, schools, daycares, etc.
The Cuban health care is on par with that of the U.S., the latter having advanced technology and resources and the former being under a trade embargo for over 50+ years.
Cyab can trade with almot every other country in the world. Or did you think that the US is the only country that makes aspirin and other basic medical supplies? Did you read my above post? Canada is Cuba's biggest trading partner and also has one of the most advanced medical systems in the world. Why can't they get supplies from them? because they're bankrupt.
And Cuba's health care system is no where near on par with the US's.
Last time I heard the toilet paper crisis was under control. Anyway the U.S. health care system is far from perfect. They are still trying to figure that one out.
If Cuba wants to have access to U.S. products they can jump through loopholes and pay a hell of a lot more for the latest technological advances and products that most countries get easily.
They are bankrupt? Where is that piece of information coming from or is that just an assumption?
you heard wrong. The crisis won't go away in two weeks under the best economic systems, and Cuba's doesn't qualify.
I say that the country is bankrupt because they are currently cutting back on not only the production of toilet paper and other basic goods but are now facing food shortages and using oxen instead of tractors all to save money in order to keep their economy afloat.
and did you read my post that stated that Cuba's biggest trading partner is Canada? That part of the embargo is ignored by other countries and not enforced by the US.
And the US government functions fairly efficiently (for government standards) due to the end of patronage and the introduction of the merit system to the civil service. I have never had to bribe any public official for their services, but in Cuba, such actions are commonplace.
So who's going to fix the corruption and probles in the U.S.? Everyone knows this is the most corrupt nation in the world! The white devil Bush bankrupt the nation along with those in wall street! This nation has launched a war on false pretext and killed innocents! The U.S. has blood on it's flag!
no, what you are saying is long live the communist ***DICTATORSHIP***, because that's what it's really called. The Cuban government has succesfully hidden this dictatorship under the words communism and socialism... and we can see that success in you... and you probably not even know what living in a communist dictatorship feels like...
Lol, still the ideology of communism is good, but it can never be practised in real life, some one will allways be in the top of the hierki! And human greediness is bigger then letting everybody share equal.
CONGRATULATIONS, you left THE BAD BOY LATINO PROJECT in time. THE ESTEFAN FAMILY JUST TRIED TO ABUSE HIS NAME FOR THEIR MONEY LAUNDERING. Despite the allegation in my blog, no one of more than thousand HOLLAND AND KNIGHT LAWYERS was allowed to file lawsuit against me. Not even the super-lawyers Michael Sikora and J. There is only ONE nation in all of Latin America where children don't spend the night on the streets homeless ... only ONE nation in all of Latin America where every child has free schooling and healthcare ...
O no?
There was only 1500 Ring winged Cubans at the Bay of Pigs. 1000 were Captured and 500 were killed, which proves you dont have a CLUE about a history you dumb asshole
Fidel Castro's a genius. It's very impressive how he could stay in power for so long and be a multibillionaire while his people were working for almost nothing (communism).
ROFL, Looks like you've been reading forbes magazine too much. They dident have ANY evidence to suggest Fidel was a millionaire. They used everything owned by the State to calculate that, which isent Fidels bank. Fidel also said if anybody can prove he owns $1 in a foreign bank account he'll resign. You dumb ass right winged faggots dont know shit. Stop listening to your yankie fox news
no M4kaveli, YOU STOP LISTENING to your commi-ass news... there have been hundreds of videos brought from dissident Cubans who worked in the high ranks of the government showing the several mansions that Fidel owns, and plus all the cars and ammenities for his sons... and tell me, if a nation of 12 million people work for a year... how much money will it make? -but in the case of Cuba... where does that money go???? use logic.
its nothing personal....i never hated american people.....but ur nation's policy, is a pain in the ass.....always the war sponsers, always backing up the zionists pigs, stikin ur noses into everybody's buissness......thats y i admire people saying NO to imperialism and admire people saying NO to the american policy........
Fidel Castro, remeber the men at the battle of ogaden. remeber the somalians that booed u in banadir football stadium in the summer of 1977. remeber us You and u r mercenay foes graped our land, rallied and tryed to destroy our young nation, but we stood tall. The cubans the former soviets the ethopians, our hate to u is in our bones.
people say raul wont be able to do as good a job but he was there all the way through the revolution and assasination attempts. He did everything fidel did. he isnt as charismatic though. i love cuba!!!
Cuba has technically been under war conditions for decades, with threats of invasions and assassination attempts from America as well as trade barriers. Despite this they're arguably in the best condition in that area of the world, imagine if it was given a chance to grow without being externally opressed.
Cuba is changing, with Canada and China helping to modernise it in many ways. Whatever happens to Cuba politically, the Cuban's I've spoke to say they don't want it to involve America.
Uh, stdomingoesfc, Cuba has never been under war conditios, you're either drunk, ignorant, or you believe every word that everyone else says... Cubas has never faced threats of invasion or assassination from America...that's completely out of a normal person's mind... for I believe that EEUU doesn't warn anyone to strike...and the trade barriers are not the ones who suffocate the country, because all resources imported get robbed or illegally stolen by the government before it gets to consumers.
coming back at your comment, stdomingoesfc, Cuba IS CHANGING...but for the worse, for the country is more oppressing and asfixiating every day, every hour, every minute. TO my knowledge I have not seen China's influence in Cuba, even though the regime say it cooperates with the Asian superpower... and can you plz tell me in which way Canada modernizes Cuba? ...maybe you mean by infecting the entire population with HIV/AIDS while satisfying your sexual desires?...please TELL ME...
...and another comment in response to your comment, stdomingoesfc, maybe the cubans you spoke to were the highest generals of the Cuban Army or Fidel Castro himself... because if you talk to the people of Cuba (those who live off a few dollars a month and work as slaves for the gov't) they will tell you that US involvement in Cuba is essential and inevitable and more yet if you think that the Cuban exile WILL BE INVOLVED in a new Cuba because one million people do not easily forget their country
no, waterchute002, Cuba will not go back to being a Russia/China colony (it has never been)in the end, it will be a free democratic country with proper elections, rights for its citizens, able to trade with the whole world without any problems, able to support its education ,health, and economy, able to give prisioners a fair treatment, able to respond to the world for all atrocities commited during 50 years of an oppressive regime, and able to look back at past mistakes in order to grow strong.
Hey im pretty young but desperate to learn about castro's influence on cubans, anybody got some nice pointers about him? I want to know about his views about america, if anybody can tell me or link that would be great
Im not a communist, but compared to the rest of the Caribbean, Cuba is pretty good. Puerto Rico could be great as well if US colonialism ended once and for all.
viva miami!!! wtf!!! you dam cubans are so ungratefull of what fidel has done.... without fidel all you mother fuckers would be probably starving to death and have no education.... healthcare in cuba is the best in the world you dont have to worry if you dont work youll still get food!! in the states youll simply starve... selling out your own country for the luxuries of another you fucking dispicable idiots!
Fidel is a GREAT hero to the world, a genius. He is a great friend of the third world and of Afrika. I BELIEVE IN CUBA. YO CREO EN CUBA. VIVA FIDEL!
2008 = 581 jails and force labor camps. HAMBRE, ODIO, MISERIA Y CÁRCELES! Tal es la Herencia de la Revolución Comunista. y de la Tiranía impuesta en mi Patria por Fidel Castro. HUNGER, HATE, MISERY AND JAILS! Such is the legacy of the communist revolution. and the dictatorship impose on my Country by Fidel Castro. .

With the prevalence of this error; this aired news segment significantly losses credibility. Castro is a hero and inspiration to international movements that seek recognition and liberation. Despite all of the disastrous economic sanctions emplaced on Cuba by the United States, Cuba has emerged as a great example of having limited self-sufficiency while the government has successfully met the basic needs of the general populace.
You are so naive in your last statement! The government of Cuba does not build houses, harvest food, feed and clothe its citizens; the citizens of Cuba do. They trade resources with each other to survive. I know because I did it to build my family's home.
Augusto Pinochet, the former Argentinean president? Wasnt a brutal military dictatorship established by Pinochet in Chile with the backing of the American CIA? It was Pinochets coup of young army officers that overthrow the democratically elected Salvador Allende, who happened to have close links with Castro. It is said that Allende even perished in the Chilean presidential palace in Santiago with an autographed Ak-47 from Castro himself as Pinochets forces stormed the compound.

WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago 3
Us is worst than all communist regimes?
I'm not american, I'm from Brazil, but you are speaking nonsense stuff... Have you ever heard of Farc, Hugo Chavez, genocide of political dissidents?
You have no idea of what they did and are still doing around the world... US is a saint compared to these people.
Soulflytribe04 1 year ago
@Soulflytribe04 How many countries has the US invaded in the last 100 years? Who was the first nation to use the atomic bomb? Which government has controlling interest in the IMF? What was the ratio of dead American and Vietcong soldiers in that 10 year war? I do not politically agree with FARC, they have turned into thugs which is something no real genuine socialist gurilla group should become. Hugo Chaves's brand of socialism is not proleterian enough but surely he's no Stalin.

Those latin american indios didn't place those corrupt politicians in power, their respective ruling classes did- much as the US politicians do as well. And they are completely justified in blaming the US for their problems. 1. China is now a capitalist country. As a new kid on the block In a global economy where the US is the fulcrum will they support Cuba or the US? Answers on a postage stamp.
2. The US health system is fine for those who can afford it. It's free in Cuba, so which Cuban doctors have you been bribing?

4. Republicans like gays?? New one on me.

1. China is still a major ally of Cuba because they are both authoritarian states.

AntonioChiesa 2 years ago
oh, so is the US the only country that makes toilet paper?

WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
Before the revolution, 40% of Cubans could not read or write & only 30,000 to 40,000 Cubans had university degrees, today more than 700,000 Cubans have university degrees & that includes even the prositutes & there is less prostitution in Cuba today than there was under Batista. Some of the great achievements of the revolution.
WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago 2
actually, according to a UN report in 1957, 80% of Cubans could read and write and the country had one of the best education systems in Latin America.
Also, there is a ton of prostitution in Cuba today because many women, incuding the well educated feel the need to prostitute themselves out because their $20 a month salary is insufficient to care for their families.
fshjshshhs 2 years ago
Like most stories about Fidel Castro, this is inaccurate. Castro did not want to spread revolution to the rest of Latin America, that was Guevara. Fidel was made to tow the USSR line and keep the revolution in check. Cubans don't have material wealth, they never did under the US puppet Batista either. They have, however, one of the best welfare systems in the world. And you know what? Most of them are happy. More than you can say about many US citizens, let the Cuban malcontents join them!
AntonioChiesa 2 years ago 2
hmm, the suicide rate in Cuba has nearly doubled since Castro took over. It is a lot higher than that of the US. And the "welfare system" can't even provide Cuban citizens with sufficient amounts of toilet paper. Right now, many Cubans are using old newspapers to wipe their a** thanks to the wonderful welfare state.
fshjshshhs 2 years ago
Castro considered himself a dictator of the people ( the proletariat ), Quote from Castro, " I'm a slave to my people, that's what I am". So who's being kept Castro or the people?
WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
All the comments about Cubans fleeing & trying to escape, in 1980 a group of Cubans wanted to leave the island thru the Peruvian embassy, soon thousands joined & as Castro's image was declining, Castro made a public announcement... "if they want to leave they are free to leave", Castro emptied all his jails & released & shipped off 125,000 Cubans & put them on a boat to America.

WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
so Castro was a Soviet agent ..
and was fully educated with international communism ..since he was at university of havana
napajedlacek 2 years ago
There's a reason why he always wore that same revolutionary uniform which became a symbolic trademark of Fidel Castro. It's to remind the Cuban people how significant the revolution was & still is. 1959 was the year of the historical liberation for Cuba & Castro never wants the people to forget what he's done for them.
WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
Castro never lost faith in his revolutionary idealism. That stayed with him his whole life. He never became another Batista & he always spoke to the people about every agenda thru his entire dictatorship. I can't recall seeing Saddam Hussein even once speaking to his people about anything. Castro certainly didn't want his people to forget the revolution & how important it was in setting Cuba & all it's people free.
WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
Castro lied from the beginning. He said he wasn't a communist and then he said he had always been one. And you're right, he wasn't like Batista. He was much, much worse. And by the way, speaking to a crowd after you take away their guns and their freedom of free speech and association is nothing to be celebrated.
wecarnivore 2 years ago
really? so you would say that the new capitalist reforms in Cuba that Castro put in place (including allowing foreign investment and hotels) is in tune with his revolutioanry ideals.

WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
Sorry , I'm not buying it, a totalitarian dictactor doesn't last for half a century. If Castro was just out for himself & wanted wealth he would've complied with the US & the Mafia just like Batista had done. He was only in power for 6 years until Castro overthrew him. Castro believed in his Marxist Ideology & said NO to the Americans & ran Batista & the gangsters out of Cuba to lead Cuba in a new direction.
WINGGULLSEAGULL 2 years ago
Allow me to add to your defense of Castro, winggullseagull. When the soviets fell and no longer bankrolled the island, many in the Miamimafia thought that the fall of Cuba was near. These people thought that what happened in Granada in '82 would happen there; that there would be a debilitating revolt and the US military would swing in and cast the final blow. It's been 18 years and it still hasn't happened. Lets not forget that Cuba is 90 miles away from here. An invasion would have been easy.
rednemesis88 2 years ago
Castro placed people to report on their neighbors on each block. School children were taught there is no God, but rather that Castro is god and they are encouraged to turn in their own parents. Castro punished all who did not agree with him; they're called political prisoners. In Cuba today there is no freedom of the press, of association, of religion, no unions allowed, and of course, no freedom of speech. To say that the people are in charge in the hellish island is criminal and a lie
wecarnivore 2 years ago
They do however have free education, free housing, free health care, and everybody is on equal footing, including women, gays, minorities, etc. They are crippled by a trade embargo that prevents them from trading with the biggest country in the world or anyone associated with the U.S.
Cuba is not the all or nothing hellhole you seem to think it is. And by looking at you own country, you'd realize that yours is far from perfect as well. Cuba will mature with age.
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
It's the same with all communist countries. They've all been placed on embargos, which leaves them with no choice but to accept poverty, or sell their soul to capitalism.

Same old song and dance. Your Communist economies fail and you blame capitalism. It's laughable.
bilracer 1 year ago
Communism in Cuba will soon be history.
fshjshshhs 2 years ago
The trade embargo restricts medicine and medical equipment from the U.S. or any U.S.-owned company abroad, meaning that Cubans cannot get everything they need. They are reduced to outdated products in hospitals, schools, daycares, etc.
The Cuban health care is on par with that of the U.S., the latter having advanced technology and resources and the former being under a trade embargo for over 50+ years.
Frogstomp121 2 years ago 2
Cyab can trade with almot every other country in the world. Or did you think that the US is the only country that makes aspirin and other basic medical supplies? Did you read my above post? Canada is Cuba's biggest trading partner and also has one of the most advanced medical systems in the world. Why can't they get supplies from them? because they're bankrupt.
And Cuba's health care system is no where near on par with the US's.
fshjshshhs 2 years ago
Last time I heard the toilet paper crisis was under control. Anyway the U.S. health care system is far from perfect. They are still trying to figure that one out.
If Cuba wants to have access to U.S. products they can jump through loopholes and pay a hell of a lot more for the latest technological advances and products that most countries get easily.
They are bankrupt? Where is that piece of information coming from or is that just an assumption?
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
you heard wrong. The crisis won't go away in two weeks under the best economic systems, and Cuba's doesn't qualify.
I say that the country is bankrupt because they are currently cutting back on not only the production of toilet paper and other basic goods but are now facing food shortages and using oxen instead of tractors all to save money in order to keep their economy afloat.
fshjshshhs 2 years ago
Cool. Where are your sources so I can also keep up to date on things?
Frogstomp121 2 years ago 3
The embargo against Cuba clearly states that no country who does business with the U.S. can do business with Cuba! That's where the issue is!
deevee777 2 years ago
and did you read my post that stated that Cuba's biggest trading partner is Canada? That part of the embargo is ignored by other countries and not enforced by the US.
And the US government functions fairly efficiently (for government standards) due to the end of patronage and the introduction of the merit system to the civil service. I have never had to bribe any public official for their services, but in Cuba, such actions are commonplace.

Whatever happens to Cuba politically, the Cuban's I've spoke to say they don't want it to involve America.
stdomingoesfc 3 years ago
Uh, stdomingoesfc, Cuba has never been under war conditios, you're either drunk, ignorant, or you believe every word that everyone else says... Cubas has never faced threats of invasion or assassination from America...that's completely out of a normal person's mind... for I believe that EEUU doesn't warn anyone to strike...and the trade barriers are not the ones who suffocate the country, because all resources imported get robbed or illegally stolen by the government before it gets to consumers.
4yall 2 years ago
coming back at your comment, stdomingoesfc, Cuba IS CHANGING...but for the worse, for the country is more oppressing and asfixiating every day, every hour, every minute.
4yall 2 years ago
...and another comment in response to your comment, stdomingoesfc, maybe the cubans you spoke to were the highest generals of the Cuban Army or Fidel Castro himself... because if you talk to the people of Cuba (those who live off a few dollars a month and work as slaves for the gov't) they will tell you that US involvement in Cuba is essential and inevitable and more yet if you think that the Cuban exile WILL BE INVOLVED in a new Cuba because one million people do not easily forget their country

no, waterchute002, Cuba will not go back to being a Russia/China colony (it has never been)in the end, it will be a free democratic country with proper elections, rights for its citizens, able to trade with the whole world without any problems, able to support its education ,health, and economy, able to give prisioners a fair treatment, able to respond to the world for all atrocities commited during 50 years of an oppressive regime, and able to look back at past mistakes in order to grow strong.

Pro or agaisnt Fidel?
there is a pretty simple answer to that:
compare Cuba to their Caribbean neighbours or even most of the Latin American countries and see the differences! ;)
Lisbon1906 3 years ago
Im not a communist, but compared to the rest of the Caribbean, Cuba is pretty good. Puerto Rico could be great as well if US colonialism ended once and for all.

Say no, to AMERICANS???
We are the real Americans. The sons of the SPANISH CONQUESTORS OF AMERICA. The people from United states are Statetians.

MADANESIFEDERATION 3 years ago
