@itsareligionofpeace Lots of movies are like that. Not sure what you consider "regular," but given what I imagine your criteria to be, there's A River Runs Through It, You Can Count on Me, Million Dollar Baby, American Beauty, Brokeback Mountain (unless they're not "regular"), Cash (Johnny Cash isn't exactly regular but you might count it as such), of course It's a Wonderful Life...But can you name a movie about "regular Black Americans living real lives...presented w/ love & respect"?
Tender Mercies changed my guitar playing forever. The guitar lesson scene helped me to try writing and singing my own stuff. Over the years a few heartfelt tunes have resulted. Thank God for this movie. Stewart
he was on Fresh Air today and he said he put into the contract BEFORE the movie was even shot that they COULD NOT dub in a professional singer in post production.
wow!!! I absolutely love this movie. This scene is awesome. I, when I was younger with my sister, would sit and watch this movie over and over. I love it. This is a nice rarity to see from such a great movie. Thanks for posting.
Love this film..one of my all time favorites....Duvall is amazing.

How did this great movie slip through the Hollywood system?
A movie about regular White Americans living real lives and the regular White Americans are presented with love and respect.
How did this movie make it through?

One of our most superbly talented and intelligent actors, along with Tommy Lee Jones. Thanks, Mr. Duvall.

This and "The Apostle" In my opinion is some of his best stuff. My two favorite movies with him.

I only came across this because of Michael C. Hall.

Watching this movie now. Duvall, in my opinion, has never gotten his due credit for his excellent acting.

@AbbbasGirl I don't know, he did win an Oscar for this. I thought Walken in The Dead Zone was the best of the year, but this was very good as well.

Beautiful movie.
Wonderfully acted and paced.
Anything with Horton Foote's name on it is worth seeing or reading.

This movie and "The Ace" (better know as "The Great Santini") are Robert Duvall's best films... hands down, no arguments.

True Story: Duvall surprised the boy by showing up at his b-day party and giving him this guitar. Now the boy is a guitar teacher. Love this movie!

Yes, a million times, yes. Hugely underrated flick. It's a top 5 (and number one on some days) for me.

this is the best romantic movie EVER.
Although Robert Duvall is a Bush supporter I still love him as Mac Sledge
