Anyone thinking Palin would make a great VP is insane. Yes, she is a good person, seems very nice and like "one of the us", but really, in the world we live in, is that enough to be VP and possibly President of the world's most powerful country? Really? The story got started because some hospitals' treatment of rape victims goes beyond evidence gathering to include things like STD testing, and they bill for those services. There were 5 rapes in Wasilla during her 6 years as mayor, and 4 were after the state banned charging. There is no evidence that anyone was charged in Wasilla.

Palin knowingly signed the budget which slashed funding for rape exams, so there is evidence. She may now try to distance herself and say that she didn't know what she was signing, but even so, if as mayor she couldn't manage to read a small-town budget, does this make her fit to be VP?

When rape happens to YOU or a female family-member or friend, statistics quickly fly out the window, and you learn how painful and traumatic of an ordeal it is. To endure the additional burden of forking out $300 to $1200for rape exam expenses is a slap in the face. The very idea that Palin would condone the charging of rape victims is upsetting in the extreme, regardless of how many women it actually affects.

Palin fired Stambaugh, and replaced him with Charlie Fannon, who, with Palin's knowledge and signature, slashed the budget for the exams and began charging the citys victims of sexual assault.
