@lolman123852 not everyone has that kind of money and a lot of people have access to these or better monitors stop being an asshole motherfucker and quit hating on videos
@Manstarr29 You just have to put it there so the projector works as very strong backlight and the image can reflect to the wall. The display is just connected to a computer
@Hobden2XD if you use a computer monitor to do this, it'll already have the hookups, basically dude, you just take a regualr old flat screen monitor and take all the plastic off so you can stick the screen on the projector. you just only want the little plastic like screen on the overhead table thingy. it's easy, all the plugins stay dude. hope that helps
@MrAlexifrim No, Crt's have there own light, inside the tube, you would have to turn the brightness all the way up, but you shouldn't do it because it might overheat.
@toddshere I think that a better idea would be to get an incandescent light bulb that is the brightest that you can find. Perhaps 150watts with more than 2,000 lumens. You can also see if a powerful fluorescent light bulb (you know? the energy saver ones), but the BIG ones, that are rated, I think 38 watts (but imitates 150w to 200w incandescent counterpart) could do the trick in getting a super bring picture.
@pastryhat I think the key here is to pick an LCD display that is not bigger than the projector coverage area. If it overlaps, I guess you can scale down digitally through SOURCE. if that SOURCE is a computer, for some LCD screen, setting resolution to one step back from maximum resolution (if max res. is 1280x1020, then change to 1020x768 XVGA) would cause the LCD generate letterboxes on up/down and left/right about 1 inch margin that SHOULD be enough to mitigate overlaps issues.
@pastryhat part 2... also, if you notice that the LCD screen is stretching the lower resolution you picked, then you will need to disable any "screen stretching/up-scaling" features from your LCD's OSD, because if its up-scaling then lowering screen resolution would not help mitigate any overlapping you may be experiencing from using a bigger LCD screen than what the overhead projector can physically cover.
@yafilmDOTcom yeah, I've only seen that feature on some widescreen displays, but all the displays I have are standard 4:3. They have nothing of the sort. No matter what resolution you pick they fill the screen. The Smallest LCD i can find is 17 inches diagonal, and it over laps. I have found that if you change the settings in the graphics card so that the orientation of the screen is portrait then the height becomes the width. It might just fit that way.
Use a portable DVD player next time.much cheaper easy to find used and has RCA hookup for videogames.all you need is a old lens from a slide projector,a fresnel lens from staples, and a lightsource.once you build the box around it it's a much more portable and practical. Plus the disasembly is easy and has DVD player ready to go.the break down of the screen is simple and you don't have mess with DVD part.just remember to build it so the image isn't back wards.
What's the largest area that this can be projected onto? I live out of town and have a quancet that i'd like to utilize. If i put a screen up that is 17x15 feet will it focus properly? I only remember overhead projectors from high school and can't really recall how you focus them. Thanks for the video this is ingenious!
it likely wont burn, LCD panels are meant to withstand a lot of heat from the back lighting in a normal LCD panel and the part of the projector it rests on doesn't get particularly hot.
this is not new.. sharp and many manufactures made LCD Panels to put on Over head projectors for Years... in fact they stopped making them 10 years ago when projectors were more efficent, brighter.... over head proejctor bulbs are cheap..sure but they burn out every 40 hours.. so you are looking at a new bulb every week or 2

who is this "malcommerriweather" impolite basket moronnn... is a shame to suite himself with all the foul language that he said... malcommerriweather=dumbershitbitches
You're about dumber than shit. LCD screens get a lot hotter than 15 degrees celsius. You must not have an LCD TV. You can barely touch the bitches. They can take well over 40 degrees and survive.
@HolyGuyz when i touch my monitor right now its a lot hotter than my room and thats about 30 degrees celsius so i cant see where you get those 15 degrees from, and i find it hard to believe that a monitor will keep cooler than the surrounding termperature with no fan at all, i stand by with having a fan will cool the lcd sufficiently
what a briliant idea, where si the projector from how mutch are they? i have a lcd with a cracked screen but it still shows a picture would it work for this with out the glass?
so where is the second circuit? are they not used? good idea that i 've always knows it can work . .... but until this time i dont have lcd monitor...so i dont know it works..thx for videos
It's too bad that this "How To" video stopped half way through. A good How To video shows the steps from beginning to end, yet this video stops after placing the unconnected LCD screen on top of the overhead projector, and the next thing you know, Star Trek is playing. Where are the missing steps? You have to actually plug the LCD screen somehow into something, but that somehow and something are completely missing. Someone whose field is not electronics would not know how to finish the project.
I must respectfully disagree my friend! It is fun to learn how to do new projects.
To me, the specific steps in cloning DNA are quite simple and seem to be commons sense because I do it every day, but I would not assume that you knew how, because common sense isn't specific to a field. Common sense is more like "Don't sit on a board of nails", not things like, "I can't believe you don't know how to lyse DNA from it's cell without breaking the strands, dude!" :)
One very vital note: I tried this with an overhead projector, 3M 2770, which has the lamp light OVER the stage, not from under it as your projector. So, it did not project any image, the LCD just was was lit from above, and kinda blacked-out. Nothing was projected on the wall/screen.
Now if anyone has succeeded in using that kind of a projector where the lamp is ABOVE the stage and throws the light ON it, then please let me know how you did it. Thanks.
Hey Whatsup.. I had been saving up and I came up with 800 dollars to buy a big screen TV to put in the garage to play all my Video Games..I think i like this Idea Better..Where can I buy a projector like that? I have a Flat Screen Monitor that I was about to throw away and I can use that for this.
i used a portable dvd player insted of lcd screen.i just took the back of the screen caseing off so everthing still togther.the i taped it to my overhead projector fit's nice.now am playing 360 on it.exept power supply for the fan had to be seperate.quallity is awsome i still get to controll pic quality i love it.
Ya. the lighting from the lcd isn't sufficient enough to project onto the wall, so you have to take it apart enough so the light from the OHP can shine straight through.
hahaha..!!I was wondering why not keep your LAPTOP stretched out on the OVERHEAD PROJECTOR and project the same..!!Ofcourse you need a plane mirror to mirror the image on screen which you can figure it out easily..!!Nothing is distroyed and no hightech knowledge needed..! Anytime you can take your Laptop and walk off...!!
what did you connect the LCD screen to? iam using the screen from an old laptop.. and when i stripped it, it looks identical to yours, but the thing is that the mother boeard is broken... so what did u connect the screen to and how so you were able to get image and sound ? please let me know.
I'm using a no name brand, 15" TFT monitor, i wish i hadn't taken it apart now, after seeing the circuit lay out, it dosn't just open up like a book, since the horizontal board ribbon's have to stay intact and attached to the left side's vertical circuit board for the image to transmit through the screen. I'm not going to quit though, i'm sure there's a way, i'll figure it out. ....thinkin' of going to the local gas station or grocery store to jack a few of thier monitors from the registers.
Thats friken awesome I looked up items to make that and it cost less than my 22" inch Tv

can you just get the screen and lay it on the ohp?
Xbox360Freakout 3 years ago
No. the heat the OHP produces is dangerous to the lcd screen, which is why you have to separate them and have the cooling fan pulling the hot air.
irocksyoursocks 3 years ago
i mean do you have to gut the monitor from the casing
Xbox360Freakout 3 years ago
Ya. the lighting from the lcd isn't sufficient enough to project onto the wall, so you have to take it apart enough so the light from the OHP can shine straight through.

oh ok mate thats for the help

great tutorial, very well shown and looks like a brill result. slight concern over cooling for the screen, but i guess the fan takes care of that.
Thanks!

hahaha..!!I was wondering why not keep your LAPTOP stretched out on the OVERHEAD PROJECTOR and project the same..!!Ofcourse you need a plane mirror to mirror the image on screen which you can figure it out easily..!!Nothing is distroyed and no hightech knowledge needed..! Anytime you can take your Laptop and walk off...!!

dude - the light of the overhead projector has to go THROUGH the projected image - don't know if your laptop is see-through...

Hahaha, build your own projector instructions.
1) Destroy your 1200$ laptop and take LCD display out.
2) Buy a 500$ slide projector.
3) Figure out a way to get the sound from your now destroyed computer.
4) turn on and trow out your couch cuz you need the xtra space.
There you go a homemade projector for only 1700$ dollars!!
Migavi29 3 years ago
1) Buy an used tf/lcd monitor from ebay for 30/50 bucks.
2) buy an over head projector from ebay for 30/50 bucks.
3) Have some patience and install the things.
4) Saved over at least 300 bucks buying a new beamer.

or you can buy an lcd projector from ebay for 200 bucks... and its guaranteed to work..

Your sarcastic over-exadduration needs a little revision:
