just as you've said- this is a basic of islam ("there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet"), but the purpose was the vibe I guess... I'm not sure, did the gathering now, what the sing, but Buddism says, that there's no god at all (god known as a person of course). but it does not change the fact, that the "anthem" has a great and mystic power. check the version of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan "Allah Hoo". bless up!
I doubt anyone is "tricked"... Generally a kirtan leader gives explanation of what the chant will be before starting. I'm sure they knew what they were saying.
Gina Sala seems to be particularly knowledgeable about a variety of faiths.

you all just got tricked: She is saying the Muslim shahada. They all just acepted the Islamic faith by islamic convention.
