  • just to let everyone know.

i grew up with these guys rob and mike. we were in the same group 'flashback' in the early 80's, but we've all been street dancing and locking since 1978. we were some of the originators of west coast pop-locking in san diego. we have more than paid ours dues. we were inspired by shields and yarnell, the footlockers, groups like tip-tap-and toe, and bugs bunny. we were the only group with 1 white guy, 1 black guy, and 2 flips.

    old school bay-bay!

    peace

  • @flashandshan big ups brah!!! I moved to Daygo in '78 but had been lockin' since '75. lived in murphy canyon navy housing when i started poppin' and had our own crew, The Jr. Aces. Got out of the poppin' scene in the 80's but was still down with hip hop when I started breakin and dj'in. don't know if you were around then but my dj crew was Party Wave Productions. Did a lot of gigs w/ the Southern California Jam Company at Montezuma Hall, City College, Masonic Temple and El Cortez Hotel.

  • @flashandshan Party Wave (cont) I used to spin w/ DJ Jam, Paul Rodriguez, DJ Oz, DJ Swann, and DJ Magic.i remember watchin' rob and mike do their thing at Stratus and Plaza Bonita too. Glad to see videos of the fellas up on youtube. Old School Daygo Represent. These youngins can learn a lot about musicality and keepin' things clean!

  • Naw I think Umin was inspired by the same people. I love Umin too but this dance is older than many of these folks. Funky!
