I dont have any problem with the Army, but the view of the american soldiers is often somewhat idealized. In a very patriotic way. No offence. Patriotism isnt a bad thing, but soldiers should realize the true facts why they are in iraq and afghanistan. And its noch 9/11 or weapons of mass destruction. Its the oil. There are the good and bads with being a soldier. I plan on joining the military, but in order for me to do this, I must find the morals in life. It's easy to shoot a weapon, it's harder to live with a shot that destroyed a family and life. I commend those in the service and PRAY that people are aware of what goes on

But the Gulf War was ended with a cease fire not a peace treaty. Iraq did not met the conditions of the cease fire, so it was as the war never ended.

People can change... if all you saw before you joined the army were these army commercials and the only person you talked with about it was an army recruiter, there's nothing dishonorable about finding out the real story and being disillusioned and talking publicly about what you've been through. Veterans have always been a very important part of the peace movement, if nothing else they can act as witnesses to what's really going on in the warzone.

They do develop psychological problems. Most of the people who serve in the military are patriotic. This doesn't mean they are robots without consciences. VA hospitals around the country treat the psychological damage caused by unjust wars. This country's illicit declaration of war against the third world, takes its human toll not just on the slaughtered, but on the slaughterers.
