  • with a collaboration you're meant to hear each artist bringing something to the table.

This just sounds like another Venetian Snares song tbh.

Listen to Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding, this track could have fit in easily.

  • I dont know why but it reminds me of fluxus music or nam june paik or something like that.

  • Pure art.

  • This music is the essence of intellectual coherence. It is so elegantly presented. Painstaking accuracy and eloquence. If you can't understand whats going on here, it is a cacophony of improvisational energy being programmed into these machines, these machines then deliver extreme precision. This is the classical music of the 21st century.

  • oh, come on, thats some sick shit for me and i am really into it, i love Frusciante exploring new areas of music, venetian snares is sick as hell too

  • i love the shit out of this!

  • This >>>> Venetian Snares solo. (No, I love his music, I like RHCP also but not that much. But I have a tendency to be mindblowed by music.)

  • if he is not dead in 33 years, will never die.

    at least for 2011 years.

  • fucking amazing. Only way to get better would be to add Omar Rodriguez Lopez to the sessions.

  • ok as a huge john frusciante guitar fan and also venetian snares fan, i don't think this is very special.. it is not bad, it is decent, but for this genious combination this should be way better imo.. if you don't know Aaron Funk check out Hajnal or Masodik Galamb by Venetian Snares and see what I mean

  • Needs ah random darth vader voice.

  • @HoboJones10 a perverted vader sound like windowlicker ahhhhh

  • God I love the use of the monomachine here. These guys are great. Frusciante is one versatile mother fucker. His testimonial on the monomachine is partly what convinced me to take the plunge. Its also pretty amazing that this is all jammed out on the fly. I hope Frusciante keeps branching out and doing other things.

  • Reading through all the comments it really surprises me that not a lot of John Frusciante fans aren't IDM fans. It's shocking considering how adventurous in terms of music I use to think his fans were. I guess I was wrong. This has to be my favorite "side project" by him to date besides his solo work.

  • @kickliquid in my opinion idm is the pinnacle of modern electronic music and JF is one of my favourite artists!!

  • Sorry, I didn't wanna hate, I just don't like that style. Ok, I'm an ignorant.

  • I'm not amused. I hope Josh wont get to do something like this in a few years.. o_O

  • Well I don't consider myself a fun of electronica or "experimental electronica" and don't think I've ever listened to anything like it. I just listened to this because I'm a JF fan, but it sounds amazing. Looks like I will be expanding my musical tastes in the near future.

  • @CharlieWildcard *fan not fun

  • I love his previous solo/josh albums but not this this release :(, The Empyrean wasn't a good calling also...

  • Well we all know Aaron Funk <3<3<3 and John Frusciante but who is the other dude?

  • Aaron Funk is the most talented musician/artist to walk this Earth. That is all.

  • @RoboticusMusic Trent Reznor

  • @Eukenuba gtfo with your opinions there's no room for that bullshit. Aaron's prestige is hard factual science.

  • @RoboticusMusic

Blasphemy. Frusciante pawns. End of story.

  • @mussman717word Forget it. End of summary.

  • at the end if you turn it up loud enough, you can hear the birds chirping outside as they were recording!

  • muy bueno!

  • @dedemaister This rings true, sadly. Frankly most so-called underground stuff - from techno-derivatives to noise - has become awfully repetitive. I have stuff from the early nineties - on the channel too - far more innovative than 90% than most of the electronica these open-minded (read: prefabricated-notion-of-cool cliques) listen to. This is in danger of becoming full diatribe so I'll just note - when people can't categorise something, they often don't like it until others approve of it. :)t

  • love it!

  • @sodist sorry mate, everyone to their own

but i just know how amazing he was in the chili peppers and in his own solo career

for me and a lot of people out there this is just clicking some buttons and putting a beat underneath, he skill on guitar is unrivaled by 99.999% of the world

  • @sesh94 he's a great guitarist, but the shit Aaron Funk does is equally mindblowing, both creatively and in translating that into a live show, this collab is just two of my most respected artists jamming out together, the fact it ever happend is a blessing.

  • So refreshing!

  • Somehow, John manages time and time again to wrap me in something that feels so much larger than my own self. Its a cocoon of ideas and expressions I never knew existed. Awesome.

  • @oswyn123 well put.

  • You can actually hear the RHCP style in this song lol, in the melody layering style.

  • Comment removed

  • ranked 18th greatest guitarist ever, and this is what he gives it up for

    such a waste of talent.

  • @sesh94 Oh god, how ignorant can people bet. You dont have to like the music, but "a waste of talent"? Seriously? Didnt you understand what music is all about?

  • @sodist they don't deserve ears, narrow minded buffoons

  • @sesh94 i pity you. just the fact that you pay attention to pop-culture's "rating" of a persons talent, proves your shallow values and feeble mind...open your eyes and ears for your own sake

  • Such colourful music

  • Listen to it on your headphones and close your eyes

  • ...

  • i like the shit out of this. so many like.

  • yeah what i figured out by reading some comments is that the fans of experimental electronica who claim to be and were supposed to be open minded are just as small minded as the rhcp fans.all i see from both sides is comparing this to rhcp.rhcp is great and is my favourite band along with some others.but this project is amazing too.i love electronic music and i love experimental music and i love rock music and i love classical music and i love progressive and i'm not even thinking of comparing.

  • @dedemaister why even bother categorizing it? keep both, heart and mind open, and sounds arranged to musical pieces will either touch you emotionally or pass by unnoticed. When asked my reply towards "common folk" (simply ppl who dont feel as strong about this) always comes down to "I listen to music. period."

  • @affl1ctor absolutely 100 % right!

  • @dedemaister Hey man not all the rhcp fans have a small mind, I'm a RHCP fan but I also hear this for Frusciante, and all his music

  • @adRHCP yeah me too I dont understand how people can respect Frusciante but not the Chili Peppers soon as he invested a lot of his time and effort into them

  • I want a TR-808 (:

  • i am in love with this.

  • thank goodness for this, experimentationalizm mzilanoitatnemirepxe

  • Iv been waiting for Venetian Snares to bring out more Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding style material. I love the glassy, fractured and convoluted glitches

This sounds a bit more messy since its all recorded in real time, but since it was done more as a jamming sessions that makes it all the more impressive in a way.

Anyone who's offended by the glitch aesthetic should at least realise that there's a whole side to electronic music that has developed itself just as much as any rock scene has.

  • @LarynxLove if you like this sort of stuff check out VSnares' Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding album it is a lot like this.

  • where can i buy this?

  • @Gazonkie go to planet.mu for the download. but if you want the 12" the release has been delayed and i dont know how long til.

  • @o0hedphuq0o theres a 12" coming out?!?! thats amazing, i definitely want that... are they gonna be selling it on that site when it finally comes out?

  • @Gazonkie go on this site for the 12". Its amazing!

  • @Gazonkie go on this site for the 12". Its amazing!

    TIMESIG002

  • pity some people don't know what real modern electronic music is like. well to you people: this is it. and for trained ears it's amazing!

  • i'm starting bets on when these dicks die anyone in ah well not too long

  • i can't believe how deaf all the haters here are. as if it isn't clearly noticeable that the bassline and over-all harmony of the different sounds is similar to some of JFs previous work. The EP is quite reminiscent of the intro to 'a sphere in... silence'. If he played these same notes on his guitar, fans would argue it's great.

  • fucking stool in my pants

  • I really prefer John's solo stuff (it's the best music there ever was), but this is interesting.

  • @LarynxLove (cont..) sound like the exact same thing could have been made 30 years ago. Rock music in general these days is just the same old shit recycled over and over again.

That's why experimental (not techno) electronica is so exciting to me - you can create TRULY unique sounds that likely have never been used before. RCHP, while talented, was a rock band playing simple rock songs. The fans complaining are the lowest common denominator and obvoiusly would be against growth in an artist.

  • @LarynxLove I'm a huge VSnares fan (and really dont mind Frusciante's solo stuff)- I was waiting to see what RHCP's more closed-minded, mainstream sorta fans would say about this. Most of them probably just have something against electronic music - as an electronic musician myself, I know a lot of guitarists have problems with the instruments I play.

What I don't think they realize is that guitar has become cliched and overused these days - it's hard to make a rock song now that doesnt (cont..)

  • John you rule, u are simply the best!

That shows us how much talent you have... You feel the music, you give us pure music.

    Thank u John Frusciante!

  • I think you PSSYs that didn't like it didn't drink enough wine before listening to it

  • This is great. I hope there's more to come from them. I'd like to hear some Venetian Snares breaks next time though, and moar Frusciante influence! :P

  • this is so awesome!! hope they release an album soon

  • Great! I was waiting for this, Im a big fan of John & I like Venetians snares too (I like other electronic stuff more, like aphex twin or Boards of Canada)

Sangchain: Obviously you dont like electronic music! Music is a very broad thing.

  • @Sangachin This shit is brilliant. You obviously have extremely poor taste. Venetian Snares has more talent than the majority of musicians out there.

  • Comment removed

  • remember when John released A Sphere in the Heart of Silence back in November 2004 it had a some electronic songs on it

  • john goes IDM :D

  • awesome

  • The demos had gotten me really excited. Glad I can hear the whole thing now!

  • personally i think this track is lack of feeling, i think the thing john most expeled from his guitar and singing was feeling.

  • I don´t really like it. What I do like though, is that John is making music that he likes.

  • i like it, because it seems that theres nothing repeating but the mainbeat...

  • john even admitted in a recent interview he's just making music "for him and his friends to trip out to".

  • @rocketpeacock i totally agree with you, but how dare us say such things, next thing we know we will have the physco Iva n her wimpy yes ppl from IM cumin after us haha total shite if u ask me like how can you go from TRHCP to this?

  • @FAL4L

lol this music is whack compared to RHCP

  • @rocketpeacock Whack means good right? hahah, Venetian snares is fucking brilliant... I don't mind Frusciante or anything, but Venetian Snares is faaaar more interesting than the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

  • @FAL4L By deciding you were done making mainstream pop fodder... and going on to make beautiful, complex music with a genius (Aaron Funk of Venetian Snares). I have newfound respect for Frusciante (though i like his solo stuff, and some rhcp was ok - californiacation etc. was fucking boring and trite)

This music actually does something NEW, it's not fucking paint-by-numbers garbage

  • @kwaal i'm not here to offend anyone and i am sorry, i came across a bit shity mayb because this music is new 2 me and i just didn't give it a chance like i should of b4 shooting my big mouth off, but on the other hand u came back all guns blazing when u like JF'S solo work & work he did whilst with TRHCP? don't shoot me down because i'm a RH fan then get annoyed because people don't get ur's. anyway i'm going to support JF and try not insult any more people in the process. p.s sory Iva ur gr8 x

  • @kwaal I'm voting your comments down because you're just spreading more hate. Don't hate, love. Just enjoy the music... I hate it when people say that but I guess I can say i understand what they mean now.

btw I'm with you rhcp are fucking shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • ty

  • Thanks for putting this up

  • @swakebording yes, i'm glad there's finally tracks to listen to
