I am very heavily tattooed and I am moving there this Summer you think it will make a difference the fact I am pretty much covered? My wife got a job teaching art there and is a bit concerned and wants me to be sure to cover up. Also watched your video on Costco excited about that. Apparently we will be living a 10 minute walk away from one. :)
@durkeeinkorea We will be living in Yangjae. She will be teaching at an International school in that area. We are very excited about the move. I plan to eventually try to get into school there to finish my animation degree and I know Seoul is a big hub for animation and art. I am an illustrator by trade and do a lot of mural and sign painting here in Austin. I am hoping I can continue to show art there as well. Do you know much about the Free Art Market? I have read about it some
@FriendsnEnemies Aww cool man. We live right in Yangjae. Do you happen to be working for a YBM school? I'd check out Hongdae for an art scene. I don't know much about it. Yangjae's a great area. Gangnam is really close. It's a nice little pocket. Will it be your first time in Korea?
@durkeeinkorea My Wife will be working at St. Paul's preparatory school as the Art Teacher. I am not sure what a YBM school is just know thats the school shes working for. This will be our first time to Korea. We are very excited we have watched pretty much all your videos haha very informative! Thanks for posting them!
How do they feel about facial piercings? I have my nose pierced and i'm planning on teaching out their in July/August and I've heard they are probably going to make me take it out. Have you heard or seen anything in regards to that?
My history teacher in America had a tattoo on his arm and I remember he had to cover it up.... He would wear long sleeves all year.So I'm kinda surprised that your boss was whatever about it especially when your teaching little kids and you have great amount of influence on them.
Dude, you are seriously the coolest (laid back) blogger I have yet to see, come out of Korea...maybe because most bloggers in Korea are Canadian. To happy all the time, eh? lol (stereotypical joke of the day) Anyway, good on ya! Keep it up. Nice to have an American perspective on things for a change.
@DestinyAgentCC I gots my mind on my money and my money on my mind. Thanks! Yeah those damn Canadians! All nice and stuff. Haha... Are you in Korea, Eh?
I have busted my knees and face before in front of people and I think I laughed harder at myself than anyone else did and it was at a football stadium of 100,000+! I am clumsy. Period!
Here in Japan....tattoos have to be covered up....normally....well almost always. Still a very strong connection between tattoos and the "Yaks"...yakuza! All of my coworkers who have them have to keep them completely covered.
On Americas Stupid funny videos, after the husband gets his balls slammed into his throat from his kids BB bat, his wife comes over and massages them, asking if hes OK. After hes recovered from his balls, they find it funny and send it into AFV so they can make some money from his pain. I have yet to see AFV put on something where someone gets hurt at that moment,
Have to disagree wit you on this one. I'm surprised you didn't at least turn around, show some concern, ask if she was ok and help her up. That would have been the gentlemanly thing to do.
@durkeeinkorea Not Weakest, Honest,.& I'm equally surprised by your response. but if someone (Not in this case) falls on their face, was hurt, bleeding, would you still be rejoicing you captured it on camera? Did you happen to see the video of the 2 year old chinese girl run over by 2 trucks. That wasn't very funny, was it. I've seen people fall before & have never laughed. I actually felt a turn in my stomach. Sort of ill & my first response would be to help her. Sorry if I seem a bit human.
@TheLivingDeadOne Ah yes, human. Those kind, heartfelt souls who... torture and rape victims whenever they get a chance, slice off the breasts of women because they have different skin colour and therefore aren't human, ravage the children of native colonies so they can steal their belongings, all, largely in the face of the all loving gods. We are so selfless, we don't even keep it to human-human action, we like to share and torture animals, wipe out entire species for fun or a royal snack.
@TheLivingDeadOne Also, context, livingdeadone, context. She obviously had a small fall and got immediately up again. I'm sure if Durkee saw blood gushing out of her eye socket, he may have had the decency to record more of it. (I'm sure you get what i actually mean)
@TheLivingDeadOne Seriously?! So, you're telling me that when you see clips on Youtube or Funniest Home Videos or something like that, and they show someone falling, you compare it to the little girl in China who got run over in the streets because her mother wasn't watching her... And even worse...you don't laugh? Really? Not funny? ... You're really gonna comment on my video and say something pretentious about the gentlemanly thing to do?
@durkeeinkorea Do you think I watch funniest home video crap? Your initial reaction "BEING THERE" would be "Are you ok"? Am I in a moral argument with you? What is funny or not? Look below at Abombs comments he/she sent to me. Full of hate. DO you see something wrong? Whether or not you helped her or laughed about it, I don't care. You're the teacher in korea, maybe you should care. I only said I didn't agree it was funny & I would have helped her. Are you telling me that I am wrong for caring?
@durkeeinkorea I'll go one step further before you,.. As a teacher, do you think any one that works with you, knows you post videos on YouTube, parents of the children you teach & should protect, and co-workers, would like to see this insensitive callus nature? Wanna bet money you remove this video so none of those people see it? I bet its gone tomorrow. I disagreed with how you acted & you defend your actions of callus. I'm sure this is the last we'll be speaking but you should know better.
in korea only gang members had tattoos for a long time. nowadays more people who have nothing to do with crime are getting tattoos to look cool and stuff but older people tend to think tattoo=crime, gang member
That's why I wear flats. But then again I'm in Ulsan the sidewalks are brick and really uneven. Was she wearing really high high heels? Love your videos!
Tattoo culture is really interesting over here. From what I understand, it is illegal for Koreans to get a tattoo from anyone other than a doctor. While I think we (foreigners) are given a kind of special pass (that pass being immune from judgement) I have heard that Koreans with tattoos are thought to be gang members and into drugs and other tomfoolery.
That was the most awkward fall I have ever seen.
